Good tip, if you use the steel wool from the supermarket, make sure to get red of all the soap and pink stuff, it'll light much better :)

Hey Haydon, you get the the best result with very fine steel wool without cleaning agents. Lightning is best done with a 9V Block battery. 🔥 😂

Anyone wanting to use steel wool. Couple tips. Use 0000 grade or "super fine" Metal wisks are the easiest and safest way to cradle/spin it. Be conscious of where you're doing it. Large chunks fly off towards the end, it could start a fire or land on you which is another good point. When you're slowing down your spin watch out🤙🏼 anywhere from 2-5 second shutter is a good starting point. ANDDD Have the person spinning wear black to hide them

Little tip, you can use a square 9v battery to spark the steel wool. it basically shorts out and lights instantly

I've used bunnings for a lot of long exposure/light painting tools that I have created
9v Battery is the best tool for steel wool spinning, just never store them together
You want fine grade 00, 000 or 0000 from bunnings
Add bits of Magnesium or Copper to the Steel Wool!
