    I had great luck with yum dingers last year in the crystal clear strip pits I fish. Texas rigged mostly. 2.99 a pack. Started out with senkos but at the rate I was going thru them I switched to yum dingers. Didn't noticed any drop off in bites.

    Interesting perspective and you did a great job of being consistent for each.Funny tho, up here in Canada I use Yum Dingers in my fav colour and the small mouth at my cottage lake find them absolutely irresistible every time. they are the Go To bait every time. Senkos are too expensive and don't last more than 1 or two fish so I don't even buy em anymore.

    Great video. I just wish you would have put the rankings of each group at the end of each segment. Going back to see which worm ranked where is a pain. Looks like you did do it for the last segment but I don't know if that was just for the Neko rankings or the overall standings. Great video overall. If you do this again try the BPS Stik-O, they copied the Reaction Innovations Pocket Rocket as well but I've heard good things. I hate Bass Pro but these are the only two things I will buy from them.

    gotta try on a weighted shank swimbait style "flutter hook" for a horizontal fall- thats my #1 way to fish it. The wiggle as it falls horizontally is similar to a wacky rig, but texas style weedless for the best of both worlds. I skip it under bushes and trees- it is the very best way i have found to fish this lure. Check it out!

    Flat side goes down on the 48 baw. It and the ocho are my go to's for wacky style especially weighted. Senko for weightless texas. Any of them are good for weighted texas. My uncle came back to Louisiana from California with what they now call the Neko rig back in the early 90's. Funny to see it getting national acclaim today. We always used trick worms for that presentation. We just called it nail weighting. Believe it or not guys there are times when a senko is too aggressive and gets out fished by the cheaper do nothing competitors.

    James Barron, I 2nd the Bass Pro brand stick bait. Very similar action to Senko but considerably cheaper. Miliken fishing did same pool vid and came to same conclusion. Senko are essentially 1 bite baits. At $1 per bait, can get expensive quick.

    I read recently in the advocate that there were concerns about the overfishing of speckled trout in Louisiana waters I’m wondering if you as someone who fishes weekly.
    Do you feel that our waters have been overfished and do you agree with the need to reduce creel limits

    • @MarshManMasson
      @MarshManMasson 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm 100% in favor of reducing the limit IF it's done for biological and not political reasons. As we watch this process unfold, we'll all be able to tell if it's the former and not the latter: If the limit is dropped to the single digits, it's for biological reasons. If it's dropped to 15, it's for political reasons. Both of the top fisheries biologists at the department have told me for years a drop to 15 will have no benefit to the fishery because as a percentage, very few anglers catch more than that. A drop that will actually benefit the fishery will have to be significantly less than 15.

    • @jsalterxpress.2480
      @jsalterxpress.2480 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I grew out of having to get limits some time back but I know too many people who think they have justify a 2 1/2 hour drive and the cost of a trip with every fish they can get. I release every fish 3 pounds and over regardless the species but it especially warms my heart to see a fatty speck swim away. I keep enough specks to keep my family happy plus it supplemented with bass and catfish. I say drop the creel limit because it will not effect my weekly 2 hour drive from Clinton to Chalmette at all. Fun and informative video. Thanks, MM.

    • @timlong4860
      @timlong4860 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jsalterxpress.2480 Any reduction in creel limits need to address the commercial/charter market first. Those guys bringing 3-4 guys almost daily and catching 100 trout per day is hurting the fishery much more than the regular weekend Joe who may catch a limit once in awhile but not daily like the guides and their "client" do. The charters need a lower per person limit simply due to the sheer number of guides and the days on the water they get.
      If that is not addressed, then I am not at all in favor of reducing recreational creel limits. Going with only 180 days a year to fish and only a 3 man limit for those days ends up being 13,500 trout taken per year per guide. We all know they fish more days than that and even though they don't catch a boat limit every time they fish but it is still a very significant number of fish taken by each guide, every year.

      Joe I agree 100%. It’s a conundrum for sure. All the out of state of people who come say it’s for the “meat run” much like a Texas deer hunt is to some people. The big deal is gonna be all the money the limits bring to the state. Liberal limits are actually pushed as a selling point to visit our state. I’m headed out to Chalmette now, wish me luck.
