      I recommend the Mustang seat for passenger!! You can also get the mustang solo tripper seat to go along with it.

    The Gunfighter looks great! I bought the Corbin Dual so I could install their Corbin adjustable backrest.
    I still may buy a Solo or gunfighter in some custom color finish to swap back and forth for a different look but am spending a lot on other upgrades I find more important to me. “ This Month”😳

      @@papastevesgarage I am liking it and did ride it a couple of times for a whole fuel tank between stops and it is definitely better than stock and with the flat rear section it can hold luggage possibly without a rear rack. I am having trouble finding a rear. Luggage rack with out a stationary passenger back pad/sissy bar. The bike is getting a bunch of add ons in the Honda shop this week. I like to watch you work but at 73 yo. I rather let this one Honda Tech work on it. I trust his work. He has done many bikes for me including the CRF1100L Africa Twin I traded for my Rebel. The Rebel is getting softer grips, T-Rex skid plate, T. rex centerstand , crash bars, V&H pipe🤔, probably forgetting something I hope he don’t!🤷🏼
      Loving the Corbin backrest.

    I'm riding with an AirHawk pad on the stock seat and while it's OK, sorta...I'm thinking yet another Mustang may be in my future.
    The two-up corbin looks nice, but the only corbin I ever had was just too damn hard and I just didn't have the butt to break it in I guess.
    Three Mustangs later, I'm looking for yet another.
    Love the bike. Love the video. Cheers.

    Much enjoyed your video, as usual PS. The Corbin seat looks well made, at least from the top. Howsabout some kind of a quick-release mechanism (spring type cotter pin that you can put your finger through) instead of the threaded allen bolt through the rear mudguard? You would regain easy access to the storage compartment.
    I'm happy enough with the OE seat, and I've just fitted a very smart SW-Motech topbox, which limits seat options.
    'Gunfighter'? Though, like yourself, I'm a seventy-something codger, the last thing I need is a shot in the arse.

      Thanks for being a loyal viewer. I like the idea of the cotter pin. I'll look for a thread version. Seems to be a fair number of 70-something cycle enthusiasts out there. We should start our own club. Call it maybe: "Satan's Septuagenarians"

    Hey Papa Steve, Did you notice if the Corbin seat moved you up closer to the tank or back farther from the tank?

    • @papastevesgarage
      @papastevesgarage ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm a little further from the tank. When you order the Corbin Gunfighter seat, they ask you for the length of your inseam as well as other physical measurement's. That makes me think that Corbin custom builds the seat to your physical requirements, but I don't have any confirmation that is true.
      My inseam is 30 inches. If I remember correctly, I told them my inseam was 31 inches. That could account for the slightly greater distance from the tank. Even if it is irrelevant, the saddle is roomy enough for me to adjust my position forward or back if I need to. I like the fit.

    I saw that part about the seat storage. In relation to that. What would happen if you remove the metal piece that would require it to attach to the fender? That way you can access the storage. Or would that result in the seat being wobbly?

    • @papastevesgarage
      @papastevesgarage 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not a good idea. The only lock would be at the front of the seat then. That would not be very safe. I have since installed a chrome knurled thumb nut that I ordered from Amazon. It looks great and eliminates the need for a tool to open the seat. This solution is still not as convenient as the latch down for the stock seat, but it works well otherwise.

    Is the back support as good as something like an actual separate back support?

    • @papastevesgarage
      @papastevesgarage ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your question. It's not a simple answer. I like the way the gunfighter back support curves up the back of my butt because it makes the ride more comfortable. Though, it's not the same as a separate back rest. However, unless you've put on handlebar risers or swapped out the stock handlebars for bars that are tall enough to let you to sit up straight, a back support is not going to do much on a Rebel 1100. At least that's the experience of my 5'10" frame. Before you consider a back rest correct your riding position to more upright first.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Cobin Gunfigthter. I had one on my Honda Magna about 20 years ago and just ordered a new one for my Harley Switchback. Your video is reassuring that I made the right choice. I do have a Mustang on the sprrtster. I am also over 70. Thanks again and ride safe.

    dude all you gotta do is use a thumb screw for the back end of the seat and then you can un screw it pretty easily and quickly for using the under seat storage still

    • @papastevesgarage
      @papastevesgarage 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your suggestion. I actually considered a thumbscrew a few months back. I would prefer a thumb screw in black or stainless for aesthetic reasons. However, I wasn't able to find even a common steel thumbscrew that was short enough, at my local Home Depot, much less one in black or stainless. I'm still looking, but the priority is low. The method I reported in the video works for me. I don't really need to get the seat off all that often.
