If the Lucifer Show started a few days after this, then there must have been Teasers, Trailers or Leaks from before that, so it does make sense to do the reference on surface level "The Devil solves crime on LA"
This was a great arc for Sam and showed real character development! Sadly it gets overlooked your first time watching. Had this been in the past Sam would've said yes. Lucifer used Sam's Guilt, Shame and desire to do good to try to get him to say yes the same tactics he used in season 4. Sam knew drinking Demon blood was having a negative effect on him and his personality, but he was willing to endure it if it meant saving the world and all the evidence he had supported that theory. Also Sam desperately wanted to use his demon blood for good because he was ashamed of it and it disgusted him, so he wanted to use it for good. And Sam in the end did say yes to Lucifer in season 5, he said because him sacrificing himself was the only way to make things right. Sam's mentality is the only way he can make things right is with suffering and sacrificing. And he will leap at the opportunity to make things right so much so that it blinds him from other options, he was in to big a rush to fix things and that's why it was easy for Lucifer to trick him with the visions. Sam was so wrapped up in fear and guilt over the darkness he didn't see the obvious problems with letting Lucifer out, as mentioned himself Lucifer was only one of four of the arc angels that battled the Darkness so the odds of one alone beating it were slim. The other issue is Sam's self-confidence and his faith in Dean. This goes back to season 4, there Sam didn't believe he was capable of anything without drinking demon blood because it made him feel powerful and special, he also didn't have faith that Dean could stop Lilith despite that was what the angels were saying. Here though Sam does what he should've done in season 4, he has confidence in himself and faith in his brother that together they will find another way to beat the Darkness, he's not putting it all on his shoulders or on Dean's their sharing the load.
I’m telling you, season 11 keeps proving how good it is. This was an awesome episode. Casifer is definitely polarizing. I’m amused by him, although sometimes there’s a bit (a lot a bit) of overacting lol
So a lot of people give Castiel grief over letting Lucifer out but I'm going to try to defend him and explain why it makes sense and how it parallels to what's been going on with Sam. Aside from this episode Cas has only been in four episodes so far and in each one he's clearly been through the rigger with loads of mental and physical trauma. He's also been by himself he hasn't opened up to Dean or Sam about what he's been through or how he's feeling and just like Sam he is overwhelmed with feelings of fear and guilt over letting the Darkness out. Than you have this episode where he failed to save a fellow angel and got branded by Amara seeing firsthand what a threat she is. Just like with Sam obsessing over Amara it blinds him from other dangers to the point where he actually thought letting Lucifer out or at the very least visiting him was the best choice. The difference is Cas self-worth is at rock bottom so he isn't thinking straight, also a part of him believes that if he didn't take it one of the brothers would eventually have to say yes so he was trying to spare them.
Sam only wanted to get back into the cage, not release Lucifer. this was something he was never going to do again. As for Cas, I agree with you, it all sounds very logical. but Cas’s act is strange in relation to Sam personally. Sam already told Lucifer no. Cas knows Sam has PTSD from Lucifer. and he considers the best option to allow Lucifer to be free next to Sam, in the form of Sam's friend. when Sam doesn't know about it.
So originally they were going to bring back Micheal and Adam instead of Lucifer but Micheal/Adam’s agent kept wanting a higher price so they scraped it and went with Lucifer. The actor didn’t even know he was offered to come back to the show, he was so mad he fired his agent. That’s why their are plot holes regarding Micheal. Like by Sam’s logic if God wanted him to free Lucifer because he was one of the arc angels that helped seal the Darkness then why didn’t he send the same dreams to Dean? Two arc angels is better than one snd God is more likely to trust Micheal over Lucifer
Didn’t they claim at this point of the series that Micheal was insane though. So he wasn’t in any condition to fight. I guess Sam should of been suspicious since god wasn’t sending him to Michael but the devil himself. I would of loved to have seen them bring back jack for this part of the series. It would have changed a lot for the future of this series.

But it always felt off that the brothers believed it considering Lucifer was the one who told them and he isn't known for being truthful. Another thing that bugged me it this is the only time in the season Micheal is brought up as an alternative for dealing with the Darkness.

Imagine being the leader to heaven from one moment and then being in a prison that god built. There’s also the fact that he’s stuck with his biggest enemy. But I do get Sam trusting Lucifer’s word is a bit weird. Spoiler, but we actually see later on this season that god also tells the boys that “Micheal is in no condition to fight.” So there’s that.

Also, Amelia didn't know Sam was a hunter, she didn't really know him at all. Their relationship had been based on their similar losses (she lost her husband, Sam lost Dean). That's all it was. They also had zero chemistry.
Agreed! and Jer completely misread the comment of Lucifer mocking Sam/Amelia, like he was pretty much saying it was Sam's worst storyline not that Sam did Amelia dirty...😑
The Casifer thing makes no sense. Now, Lucifer could easily kill Sam and Dean, whenever he wants to. Instead of Cas protecting the brothers, now he's done the opposite. Also, Lucifer didn't defeat Amara alone, it was a group effort, so there's a good chance that Lucifer can't stop Amara, anyway.
The only canon ship i have liked thus far is Sarah/Sam, all of Deans are boring/forgettable... (although my fav for Sam is coming) Introducing Casifer!! Misha does such a great job portraying him as well!!!

But that's just my opinion. Then not you asking if Luci wanted to make out with Sam 😂 **laughs nervously in Old Samifer Shipper** I haven't been in contact with anything Supernatural related for a very long time now, so that side of me is not present anymore, but I was such a big Samifer shipper until the end in spite of how wrong that is 🤣🤣 Not a shipper in the show itself though, Eileen best Girl, but beside that... Yeah, Samifer was actually my OTP back then 😂
13:25 I liked Lisa a lot, but I think the show did her dirty. Amelia, not so much. You haven't met my favorite Sam ship yet, but I'll say it only when it's no longer a spoiler. I liked Ruby, even though in the end she was evil, it was a fun duo, I also liked Jess, liked the art dealer girl, the monster girl Dean killed, Sam has that romantic vibe, so other than Amelia, he's been easy to ship. Favorite Dean ship is a trickier one, it would probably still be Lisa, in a large part because of Ben, if the show had handled that better, but Dean's deeper connections don't seem to be the romantic ones. Sam, Bobby, Cas, Charlie, Ellen and Jo. These are/were his strongest connections up to this point, so I am rarely super invested in his actual romances. Regarding Jo, it gets a big NO from me in the ship department. She felt too young when we met her, sort of like a teenage girl with a crush (I don't know her age, but she felt pretty young originally), so it would feel uncomfortable to me if they got together.
I don’t want to offend Misha, but his Lucifer is terrible. these antics, unnatural face, it looks like he has an upset stomach, and he can barely stand it. I see Mr. Bean in this Casifer( I’m ashamed to look at this, I don’t want to see Misha doing this
