Everything he said is exactly right. I frequently write lyrics then write melodies then notice a pair of melody and lyrics that go together. I had a song written for months and I heart a chord progression and instantly knew it matched the lyrics of that one song I'd written. I'd say, don't throw out everything you've written. You don't need a finished product right away; keep it and maybe come back to it later. If it was good enough you won't forget it and the right melody will make you remember the right lyrics

I could just listen to interviews with him as he goes off on these tangents and be totally satisfied at the end wanting more videos. That says a lot about his character and charisma that people really listen.
