- What tools do you need to get started with mosaics? this first instalment of the series looks at what tools you need to get before you can really start with mosaics.
Amazon is by far the best place i know of for getting mosaic supplies at a good price:

For tiles try ebay or amazon, and if you are lucky you might have a good local supplier or art store that get get mosaics for you.
More than a few of my classmates back in high school frequently turned in beautiful mosaics as projects for Latin class and I always wondered how it was done. I've finally decided to learn!

Great video! I have found that standard nippers can be used alongside a oil cutter-scour on any type of glass as the oil cutter traces a line that the standard nipper can break and it is really good for accurate and long cuts.

The video is very informative to me because at first, I thought there is only 1 type of nipper to cut all of the mosaic tiles but I was wrong. There are 2 types of nippers to cut the specific tile: the wheeled nipper and the standard nipper. I am so interested in this kind of art because I am really amazed at the outcome of the art.
I've been wanting to create mosaics for a long time now but never really had the confidence to try it. I have decided to have another look and found your video. It is a fantastic video explaining all the basics for beginners. You have a lovely, clear, warm voice and explain everything in detail. Have a gardening Mosaic glass table that fell over and the in side broke through a metal frame and the back itself is glass too! Mosaic on glass? Anyway, I was going to throw it in the trash but it looks so awesome I'm going to try a piece of wood-board on it's back with grout to save it thank you...

So do I apply my glass tiles first and then grout over them? I'm using mirror mosaic so I don't want to grout to fog the glass. Will it wipe away well?
I'd probably never do this but if I ever live in my own house with a big bathroom, I'd make an ocean picture on the wall and floor.

I'm very new to beginning Mosaics, but I'm about to try a massive project. I've been thinking about doing it for a while now, and just purchased my very first Mosaics. Plus I'm thinking about also making my own. The projects I have seen doing this cost thousands to buy, so I thought I can just make my own for a fraction of the cost, plus I think I can do a way better job. With so much more details. My project is going into my dream home as well, so it has to be great. I'm nervous, but excited too. Thanks for amazing video.
I see most people use grout is that ok and heard the powder stuff is not safe for lungs

What is the adhesive grout product that you mention is good for doing projects with kids? I looked online and thinset came up but it doesn't look like what you were using in the video.
