The story of Maryam (a.s.) in the Qur'an wasn't without purpose. We learn from her, that if we devout ourselves to Allah, then Allah will take care of us and manage our affairs, to the extent that we get bounty from Allah without measure. Women in the west need to take this lesson. If everything is for Allah, do not worry about the rest. Allah is our provider and sustainer.

25 yrs ago, i wanted to fulfill my duty as a wife and mother. It wasnt easy for me. My inlaws and my husband opposed me. It was tough. But with tawakal i manage to get through it, although i endured a lot of pain for more than a decade.
I'm glad i was there at every crucial point of my children development. After our 3rd child, my husband could see the bright side of me being a stay at home mom. But all the pains and hurt i went through, only Allah knows.
I fear for the next generation, because nobody is raising their daughters to be wife and mother; they are raising their daughters too be working, income generating female machines.... this is the society I'm living in, in a secular Muslim country in South East Asia. 95% of the women are working, and just exactly as sheikh Assim described in his lecture; free mixing, annual fancy dress parties during kickoff events overseas, giggling joking laughing, late dinners or luncheons and even shaking hands, is common! One colleague of my husband company who went to hajj in the same year as us, i saw her stretch her hands out to shake hands with both muslim and non muslim men in one of the company event i accompanied my husband, she was in hijab, yes! And these men were the same men who out of respect did not stretch their hands to me for shaking hands as they noticed i did not do that with other men

Your last example, I think, is wrong. Our prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had always advocated to act justly towards everybody, including the enemies of Islam. Competing against Israelis should be treated as an opportunity for Dawa. Try to show them the plight of the Palestinians. Try to bring them on the side to bring justice for the Palestinians.

@muslimresponse103 I'm pretty sure that the wali must be reasonable. He can't forbid her because he likes the power. He needs to accurately reference the Quran, Hadith, and interpretations that go behind his reason.

Mother khadija never went out to the markets from 9-5 like these corporate boss babes do. She had mehrams working for her, she didn’t free mix with men. She inherited all her wealth from her previous marriages etc, bear in mind she was widowed twice before marriage. After Marrying Rasulallah SAW, she too care of the house, used to cook and do all the house chores. Feminists love to use Khadija RA example to justify their whims and desires, free mix with men etc. may Allah guide us

But she just owns the business since she inherits the wealth from her family. She hired people to do it for her. She never went out without her mahram and never personally handled the business either.
