Great overview. Definitely agree with all of your mech assessments. Wish the Griffin was available outside of the Beginner Box, but I'd still buy a second copy of Beginner Box but that would make three Wolverines....which, in itself, isn't a bad thing. Keep it up and looking forward to the next one.
Yeah compared to a metal one its worth getting a beginner box and I'm generally able to figure out what to do with the wolverines. Honestly though I wish agoac came with a vindicator rather than a second wolverine.
While it's a bit dated now April of '23 still great info. I really hope you have done one for the Clans & it would have been nice if you had mentioned which mechs have clanner variants.
Hello 👋 Really great video Kathil. If may i ask, is Battletech available for newcommers into the wargaming? I have friends, who told me Godtear is more available, but Battletech looks more, more much awesome.
as for actual force building. there are several methods. the standard innersphere forces have lances, company, battalion and regiment (and larger) a Lance has 4 units. mechs, armor, infantry platoons. (Aerospace has 2) a company has 3 lances. (12 units) a battalion has 3 company's (36 units) there is a basic configuration for lances. light lance: 3 light mechs, 1 medium mech medium lance: 1 light mech, 2 medium mech and 1 heavy mech heavy lance: 1 medium mech, 2 heavy mech and 1 assault mech assault lance: 2 heavy mech and 2 assault mech this can be adjusted to anything you want. but this is a typical format when building lances.
Thanks for the video nice work. All of the opened boxsets you have showed are they enough for a 2 player game or is this a sort of a beginner buyers suggestion for one player? I always have to buy for 2 players and I am very much interested about this game.
Then do so. For some one starting out though you will get more games in by starting with A game of armored combat than you will a Clan starter, but hey if you got a group that mostly plays 3050 and beyond have at it.
Very helpful mech buyers guide for someone new to the hobby like myself. Thank you for taking the time to share!
I really liked this video. Clear amd no-nonsense.
Glad it helped.
the very best "opening the box" review of catalyst products. I look forward to more.
Will be doing more as product comes out. Fortunately a lot coming down the pipeline this summer and fall.

@@kathilmechworks4895 1000% agree with the Vindicator. I always thought it was weird that they added a second Wolverine to the initial release.

Is it necessary to buy multiples of the same box? I’d like to field an effective lance. Is it possible to do it with no repeat mechs?
Completely fine to do so. I generally only double up or triple up with lights such as the Jenner or the bugs some times.

Honestly what was opened could do a company on company game. 12 mechs each. Most games especially for new players would do only 2 to 4 each side.
Very helpful but are there any packs that the awesome come in
Awesome came in the game of armored combat only. Some times you will see singles on eBay or fortress games and minis.
Your opinion is fine and all, but as a clanner nerd from MWO, I want to play my clan mechs damn it lmao
