    Meater, I need you to implement the ability to set an alarm for the Ambient in your app. I need to know when my smoker gets too hot or too cold so I can adjust the fire. Say when smoking brisket, a low alarm of 200 and a high alarm of 300 would make life soooo much easier. Why is this not a feature????

    • @MEATER
      @MEATER  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You're in luck, @ZmannR2, that feature exists! You can create Custom Alerts based on temperature (internal and/or ambient) and time. Learn more in this video: th-cam.com/video/nYPEoQKW_jQ/w-d-xo.html

      @MEATER  ปีที่แล้ว

      Apologies for the late response! The probe is durable for deep frying. However, the estimated cook algorithm has not been fine-tuned for deep frying yet, so it's best to do a "Custom Cook" or monitor the internal temperature. Hope your cook went well!

    Now will we be able to do things that you said we'd be able to do all along, but that actually ruined the probes? (E.g., sous vide cooking.) Will the charging station work reliably in the new version, or will we continue to find probes with zero charge after being in the charger for a week?

    I love that it uses a AAA battery instead of a non-replaceable rechargeable battery. I prefer this because the rechargeable batteries tend to wear out and eventually fail to charge. This way the Meater products can last indefinitely as long as the probe is still in good shape. Please do not follow the stupid trend of rechargeable batteries. You made a good design decision that increases product lifespan.

    I like it, except.... I can't find a way to edit an in-progress cook. I change things up on the fly all the time and it seems there isn't a way to adjust target temp once a cook is initiated. The other thing, it takes an insane amount of time to calculate the estimated cook data (like 5- 7 minutes). Maybe I missed something, but have searched the guides and troubleshooting lists, to no avail.

    • @MEATER
      @MEATER  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can absolutely adjust the cook while it’s in progress, including the target temp. You just need to click into the individual cook, then click the ellipsis button in the top right corner of the screen and select “Adjust Cook.” You can then make all of their adjustments as desired, and click “Adjust” to submit them

    • @MEATER
      @MEATER  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As for the estimated cook time, the internal temperature needs to rise by about 18°F for the estimation algorithms to have enough data to generate a usable estimation. So for especially low-and-slow cooking, this can mean that it takes some time before that is ready

    Can you confirm the length of the Meater 2? I bought a different brand wireless meat therm. and the temp. was off by 30-40 degrees. After research, their probe was a little over 5 inches in total length, and their probe sensor was 1.5 inches below the tip. When I cooked a prime rib on the weber, the temps were way off because the sensor part of the probe was toward the outside of the meat, not the tip which should be in the center of the roast, and I could not insert any further. So can anyone respond about the Meater 2 not having the same issue even though this video says that there is a sensor at the tip?

    What's the deal on the Ambient Temp sensor? I get VERY low readings no matter what oven I put it in. On an oven set to 250 slow cook prime rib, I have to boost the oven to 285 to get the ambient temp to 250. Likewise, in a smaller electric oven, set to 280, I was pulling readings about 220. I'm not sure the Ambient values are reliable, and your previous claims of mirco climates seems a dubious explanation. I love this new 2Plus, but I'm just not sure if my ovens are at the right temps inside. Note, the sensor would have been placed directly over the heat elements, sitting on a rack on a metal sheet pan, so it should have been getting more heat focused on the sensor, and yet it still registers significantly lower than the thermo states for the device doing the cooking. I'm not sure who's right or who's wrong, the meater, or the ovens.

    • @MEATER
      @MEATER  ปีที่แล้ว

      Our ambient sensor is designed to be extremely sensitive to microclimates within the appliance. Since most cooking appliances tend to have hot and cold spots, the reading can vary greatly depending on the location of the probe. For more information, check out this video th-cam.com/video/GRo0d4kcO8A/w-d-xo.html

    • @bitcrafter
      @bitcrafter ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MEATER I have already watched that video. That's why I said that microclimates is not the answer in my post. Did you read it? I have a small electric oven with dimensions of 12x12x6, so I really doubt that microclimates is the excuse here. There's not a lot of room to heat up to 270 and yet the ambient sensor is routinely 30-50 degrees off from the temperature the small oven states. It's off by 35 degrees on a big oven. That's why I'm asking you.

    • @MEATER
      @MEATER  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MEATER’s ambient sensor is accurate to +/- 9°F of the temperature at the location where it’s measuring, but it’s important to remember that this temperature may vary a lot from the temperature your cooking appliance is set to, and this can happen for a few reasons:
      The reading on your cooker is based on the temperature right where the built-in thermometer is placed, but most appliances won’t have one single, uniform temperature throughout the whole cooking chamber. Heat variations depend on the size and performance of your cooker, and these hot and cold spots can have a difference of 90°F or more from the set appliance temperature.
      If the MEATER probe is pushed in too far, the ambient end can touch the meat, which cools down the ambient sensor and makes the reading less accurate. Ideally, the probe should be in the center of the thickest part of the meat, inserted to just past the minimum insertion notch.
      When you put a cold piece of meat in your cooker, it cools down the air right around it, and MEATER’s ambient reading will reflect that. The larger the piece of meat you’re cooking, the bigger this cool air bubble will be.
      For these reasons, even though MEATER’s ambient sensor is accurate to +/- 9°F at its position, you likely won’t get the result you’re hoping for if you’re using it to calibrate other devices.@@bitcrafter

    Loved my MEATER 2….. for a couple months. Quickly stopped being able to hold charge. Brand new batteries won’t hard charge. The claims of a triple A battery lasting a month are insane

    Excellent internal sensor but the ambient sensor is not accurate which is very bad for low and slow BBQ smoking.

    It's kind of sad and depressing that this doesn't have Wi-Fi still.
    that's the only dislike about these.

    I don't understand how the range is so shitty. The base is a floor away from the router and maybe max 5 ft, less than 10 ft between base and probe and you keep disconnecting, doesn't make sense. For a new version and I get the impression the Bluetooth range continues to suck, you missed the boat when you push cloud etc

    NO WiFi in 2023.... Seriously!? Your competitors have it. Even my home brew hydrometer has Wifi, and that only costs $60. This thing is $249 Australian dollars, and no WiFi....
