    Prime Attribute on RHS of FD is allowed in the case of 3NF
    3NF allows 2 condition:
    1. Either LHS should be super key
    OR
    2. RHS should be Prime
    Thats why BCNF is stricter than 3NF since it does not allow condition number 2, but it is allowed in 3NF

    Sir..@ 3:08
    3NF can be explained like this: A table is in 3NF if it is in 2NF and for each functional dependency X-> Y at least one of the following conditions hold:
    X is a super key of table (or )
    Y is a prime attribute of table
    But according to you left hand should be prime or non prime ???? Please Clear Sir.

    Your explaining is good and your examples are good.
    One question that I would raise is that where are the tables ? where are real time examples using tables ? Making A B C D E F and joining arrows that is a good work to teach basics, but this is a thing that I can do now in front of a class after listening your brilliant basic tutorials of 1 2 3 NF, Disappointing thing is that when we deal with real example in case of tables, that is where actual problem arises. That is completely missing.

    Sir ,The video ends abruptly. How will the relations divide for BCNF or will we simply remove the f.d C->B because C is not a super key?

  • @aditibose3486
    @aditibose3486 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Sir,in his video explanation for BCNF you didn't explain till end how are we going to eliminate C->B ?? Do we have to remove this and make a separate relation consisting of B and C attributes?

    You have amazing explanatory skills. :) I am in Master's in Canada and just wanted to refresh my concepts of normalization and your series served the purpose completely in less than 2 hours for me. (even my prof here sucked at explaining this) :) Perfect. And the blend of Hindi/English is music to ears :)
    One thing though, your erred usage of "do/does/is" in English bug me a lot ;) although its a very small thing but it really hits me every time. If possible, please try to correct it. Anyways, awesome series.

    • @raunakmaheshwari2034
      @raunakmaheshwari2034 7 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      "Anyways" itself is wrong usage of English language and is mentioned in your comment. If possible, please try to correct it.

    • @heeralkadam2388
      @heeralkadam2388 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Really omg I doubt if you're really working in Canada omg always finding mistakes in others teaching is a psychic act and atleast he is trying to help others free of cost not showing off like you by commenting here merely . So go and show your fake skills somewhere else and try to appreciate others efforts .

    • @MinhazMurks
      @MinhazMurks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      The funny thing is you are trying to correct his grammar but your grammar is awful:
      "erred usage of "do/does/is" in English bug me a lot" should be bugs*
      "...although its a very small thing but it really hits me every time." no need for but
      and you randomly capitalize words here and there, so please try to correct it.

    @Sanchit Sir I am confused about this video. Why you choose AC as CK because C has an incoming edge. I think only AB should be a candidate key ??

  • @yeeshusrivastava9651
    @yeeshusrivastava9651 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    From AB we can find C and from C we can find B. I laughed so hard on this!

  • @sachinsingh9165
    @sachinsingh9165 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    sir A is also a candidate key
    a ->c and c->b so a->acb ,hence it is also a candidate key

    How do you find a candidate key if the functional dependencies loop all the way around like A --> B, B --> CD, BD --> E, E --> A?

    • @dipankersingh7186
      @dipankersingh7186 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A, B and E are the candidate keys !

      Dipanker Singh I guess even D is also a part of the candidate key
      If I'm not wrong...

    Sir, when you upload video on multivalued dependence and 4NF. We are egarly waiting for that.

  • @username-zg8og
    @username-zg8og 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is a mistake at 5:17. We can find C using A and B using C. So A is prime attribute
