A short video about dyeing with Poke berries. White vinegar is the only mordant used. It was added to the berries as they fermented, the soak water and the dye bath.
It's a lovely color, but it will fade with washing and exposure to light as will any other pigment from anthocyanins. And vinegar isn't a mordant but rather alters the pH of the dyebath.
Regarding the colorfastness, I’m wondering what you made with them and if they are exposed to light or washing? I’ve wanted to try this for years, but I’ve been told that pokeberry would not be colorfast.
I used a lot of vinegar in the process. These skeins were dyed last year and have been hand washed at the end of the dye process. All of the skeins are 80% Superwash wool and 20% Nylon. I’m sure like almost all natural dyed yarns that they will fade some. Thanks
Love the music also
Informative and BEAUTIFUL-Thank you!💜
Thank you for watching!
Such a beautiful color of purple!
Thank you
@@thesimmeringdyepot8136I just watched the video again. Still the most beautiful shades of purple I’ve ever seen.

These are beautiful! How colorfast did they turn out to be?
I dyed them a year ago and they are still holding their color.
Also, what is the fiber content of your yarn, please? Your skeins are beautiful!
