Edgar and his brother Johnny are albinos. They spent a lot of time inside as kids and studied all types of instruments. Both had huge music careers. ❤❤
I wonder if one reason why so much great music was made in this era is that many kids in the 1950s had parents who could afford music instruments and lessons but not an expensive TV in their bedrooms. They practiced instead of watching TV and playing video games. (I'm old enough to remember when "go to your room" was actually a punishment.)
Edgar Winter is an Albino hence the white hair, lived in texas and couldnt go out in the sun, stayed inside with his brother Johnny Winter also albino and played instruments, Frankenstein was a warm up song for concerts but the fans kept trying to get in to hear it so they recorded it and releast it as a single, You Need to see Hocus Pocus by Focus if you want more like this!
I know people who say the 80's had great music, but I disagree. I think 70's had the best, most creative music. People then mostly wrote and played their own music. The 80's, not all, but for the most part has this sound that is very disturbing to me, plus we started getting into crazy hair styles, clothing styles, choregraphed dancing in groups. I personally don't like it a bit. I know many would disagree, but I think the late 60's and 70's had the best. And I didn't grow up with that music, I listened to 90's, which is better than the 80's. lol
My Dad took me to see Rick Derringer for my 21st birthday back in 1997, in a little bar in Daytona Beach, FL during Bike Week. I had my first legal beers in America (first beer in Munich after I graduated high school on a family trip abroad) listening to his guitar.

PLEASE….PLEASE, MOLLY BOY…if you’re gonna do Hocus Pocus, do the album version BEFORE you watch the Midnight Special performance! That performance, while great for its “frantic” speed, does a disservice to the work. That song was YEARS ahead of its time, guitar riff-wise…and the live version is just too much for a first listen. Album cut first, THEN do the live one. It gives it much better context!

Edgar and his brother Johnny were both Albino. Johnny was an amazing guitarist. Check out his performance of 'Jumpin Jack Flash' from The Old Grey Whistle Test. Also Johnny and Edgar's version or 'Tobacco Road' is a classic.
Edgar can do everything! He is an absolute master of music!! A couple of suggestions to show his range: Free Ride (rock), Tobacco Road (blues), Easy Street(jazz).
Synthesizers were in their infancy back then. Noises were crying out to be heard! Also, the tiny guitarist is Rick Derringer. Find some of his solo stuff. Rock n Roll Hootchie Koo, Still alive and well, or anything off his live album
There it is! My favorite look on your face. It came when Edgar brought out the sax, lol. As a music lover and a person who appreciates musicians and talent, you can't ignore the Winters brothers. They are both excellent. Try Tobacco Road.
That Call & Response on the drums has always been insane. Edgar Winter is an Albino that explains the white hair & light sensitive eyes. His brother Johnny Winters also masters many instruments as well AND sings. Check out Tobacco Road by the brothers. Frankenstein is a monster of many styles & timings. Edgar also played the feedback. "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific" made Edgar's hair so smooth.
Johnny Winter's younger brother Edgar was also an albino. Two gifted brothers, Johnny famous for his guitar skills & Edgar a fabulous Musician/singer who played many instruments went on to be a major music producer after Johnny passed on about 15 years ago ! I love the radio version. It's called Frankenstein because it was too long for radio play so they had to chop it up to get air play...and put the pieces together to fit radio..so Frankenstein
This is 2024 and everyone both the young and old are still impressed with this song, the crazy/futuristic sounds and the musicianship/skill behind it, but imagine you're hearing this in 1972 ..and the dude even kinda looked like an alien too! Hahah great stuff, thanks for this reaction.🤘
I was born a decade after this came out, didnt here until my teens so 20 years after release and will agree to that jawdrop effect it has. Own a 12inch single myself
Edgar Holland Winter[3] (born December 28, 1946)[4] is an American multi-instrumentalist,[5] working as a vocalist along with playing keyboards, saxophone, and percussion.[6] His success peaked in the 1970s with his band the Edgar Winter Group and their popular songs "Frankenstein" and "Free Ride".[7] He is the brother of late blues singer and guitarist Johnny Winter.
This song came from an album called "They Only Come Out at Night. I've always thought it was a joke they're playing on us. There's another song called Free Ride. Both Frankenstein and Free Ride made the top 40. Frankenstein was the first instrumental to make the charts. Outstanding reaction. This video blows my mind every time I see it.
Wow. I grew up listening to this in the 80s and it still hits hard. I did not even know they could get that sound live. The drums surprised me since I thought it was just one drummer. Still impressive. I must have listened to it a thousand times.
Edgar is one of those guys who collabed and worked with _everyone_ in the music industry. He's played on so many other musicians albums, produced, engineered, wrote, you name it. He's been everywhere in music.
MILES of Smiles watching mollyboy watching this! 😁😁😁I saw brothers Johnny and Edgar together in '76 perform this Live at The Electric Rodeo concert. They jammed everything out to the Max! RIP, Johnny Winter.
First time I heard this song was in 1973. I was ten years old. I went out and bought the album, "They Only Come Out at Night" after saving up enough allowances. I still have that album and "Frankenstein" is _STILL_ my all time favorite song. I recommend you listen to the studio version too.
It does my heart and soul good to hear young people appreciate the music I grew up with. I've been fortunate to have heard The Edgar Winter Group with Rick Derringer preform 3 times. Absolutely mesmerizing and unforgettable performances. Thank you for keeping this music alive.

The white haired guy is Edgar Winter. I saw them at a free outdoor concert about 15 yrs ago. I took my 2 young sons. They played this and it went on for at least 20 min. It was fantastic. My sons still talk about it to this day.
Gawd damn I love it when you give that face!! Man the 70’s had the best stuff! I’ve said it before, the 70’s was a cacophony of fabulous music. No one was afraid to try different stuff! Keep going down the 70’s rabbit hole bro!
Check out Edgar's first album, Entrance. He plays most of the instruments, wrote all the songs except fr "Tobacco Road" where he teams up with brother Johnny, one of the best blues guitarists who ever lived. Edgar m9re or less invented that method of holding the keyboard with a strap in order tobe able to stand while playing.
14 year old me, sitting in the middle of the back seat of a car that the boys had hoisted onto the railroad tracks, going 75-80 mph, no one's steering...first real hits of a joint, and that section of music made me feel like I was melting into the seat!
I knew when I saw the title of this reaction that you were about to get your mind blown. If I was never able to watch another reaction of music again this one would carry me. There was a little diner close to where a grew up. It had a juke box that the owner kept all the latest tune in it. When I first heard Frankenstein it just blew me away. I bet you I played that song hundreds of times over the years on that juke box because the owner knew whenever I came in (at least twice a week) for hotdogs and a soda I was going to play that tune $2.00 worth while I ate. I miss him, the café and the juke box. Best reaction ever. Thanks.
I gotta say that it's been more than a minute since I've heard this. Yep; the Edgar Winter group really knew how to keep it tight. I always love how if you really like the music from my area, then you are one of the rare people on this earth that actually 'get' so much of the massive hits from many of these groups. Keep enjoying the music so many of us grew up listening to. Keep up the good work!🎵🎶🎹
My favorite video for people to react to LOL. You cant really understand the genius of this live performance until you hear the studio version, and how insanely well it was replicated live.
I was in my early 20s when this came out. I can only say it is wild!! It wasn't until I saw this video that I was shocked by the number of instruments these guys can play. It is insane!! You do the best reactions❤
Imagine. Sitting in bed listening to this on your little transistor radio. We had some amazing music. The technology may be better but I would not trade anything for my generations experience with musical innovation and freedom. It's so cool to watch your reaction.
two brothers who were albinos. probably didn't have a lot of friends growing up. so they stayed in the house learning to play multiple instruments. Edgar and Johnathan. listen to tobacco road.
He and his brother Johnny Winters are musical geniuses~!~ 🤟🎸🤟🎸🤟 Another rabbit hole 2 go down & lots more great tunes 2 add 2 your Playlist, which is coming along quite nicely~!~ 🤟🎸🤟🎸🤟
For those lost at the end: before digital synthesizers and samplers, synthesizers were analog machines that used dials, switches, and patches to manipulate the shape of the wave form, creating different sounds. Typically, the musician would set the synthesizer settings to make the sound needed and would then play. What Edgar Winter is doing here, though, was having the keyboard produce a wave and then adjusting the shape of the wave by manipulating the settings and filters in real-time.
It was fun watching your reaction. Edgar wrote this song in the 60s and performed it with his brother Johnny. Back then he would jump over to his own drum kit..
Edgar and his brother Johnny are albinos. They spent a lot of time inside as kids and studied all types of instruments. Both had huge music careers. ❤❤
Back in the day, apparently Johnny was regarded as the talented one. I think unjustifiably Edgar got the bad end of that one! :0/

Just in case nobody mentioned it yet, Edgar Winter's older Brother Johnny performed at Woodstock in 1969.
@JPMadden that's a good point. So much talent!!
I had a wonderful opportunity of seeing this Edgar Winters band play live at The Boathouse in the late 80's

The white haired guy is Edgar Winter. I saw them at a free outdoor concert about 15 yrs ago. I took my 2 young sons. They played this and it went on for at least 20 min. It was fantastic. My sons still talk about it to this day.
every time he says mad on this one, take a shot hahaha. i cant wait to see his reaction.
I saw them live and half way through the power blew! They started over.... good times!
Honestly best reaction Chanel in the uk love how you give honest reactions 💙 also imma keep saying it react to SNOT - stoopid 😁
Gawd damn I love it when you give that face!! Man the 70’s had the best stuff! I’ve said it before, the 70’s was a cacophony of fabulous music. No one was afraid to try different stuff! Keep going down the 70’s rabbit hole bro!
You should see his brother Johnny (and Edgar) perform the song “Tobacco Road” live 👍🔥
It's been a few years since I've seen him but I believe that he is still out there doing this show.
One of the most creative and talented group of musicians. That's it. That's plenty. Thanks for your reaction.
Enjoy! The Geezer with the white hair is Edgar Winters lol.
He wasn't a geezer. You know he's an albino right? Also he's still alive making music
14 year old me, sitting in the middle of the back seat of a car that the boys had hoisted onto the railroad tracks, going 75-80 mph, no one's steering...first real hits of a joint, and that section of music made me feel like I was melting into the seat!
The tastiest guitarist that ever lived
Tommy Bolin-Poast Toastee (75) 🎸 🔥
RIP
I knew when I saw the title of this reaction that you were about to get your mind blown. If I was never able to watch another reaction of music again this one would carry me. There was a little diner close to where a grew up. It had a juke box that the owner kept all the latest tune in it. When I first heard Frankenstein it just blew me away. I bet you I played that song hundreds of times over the years on that juke box because the owner knew whenever I came in (at least twice a week) for hotdogs and a soda I was going to play that tune $2.00 worth while I ate. I miss him, the café and the juke box. Best reaction ever. Thanks.
You just opened a wormhole, bro. Check out Tobacco Road, he does this song with his brother Johnny Winter next.
Keep up the good work!🎵🎶🎹
Lol , that was flat out jamming
My favorite video for people to react to LOL. You cant really understand the genius of this live performance until you hear the studio version, and how insanely well it was replicated live.
I'm guessing this baked your noodle😂
I was in my early 20s when this came out. I can only say it is wild!! It wasn't until I saw this video that I was shocked by the number of instruments these guys can play. It is insane!! You do the best reactions❤
This was my Halloween pick for you !!!! There are no words to describe this one !!!!!! Enjoy the madness !
I could imagine driving a 1970anything and that coming on the radio and hearing it for the 1st time. Mind blowing 🤯
Are You ready?
Definitely, that's Edgar Winter. I had the privilege of seeing them live in the 70s. Awesome show.
He and his brother Johnny Winters are musical geniuses~!~ 🤟🎸🤟🎸🤟 Another rabbit hole 2 go down & lots more great tunes 2 add 2 your Playlist, which is coming along quite nicely~!~ 🤟🎸🤟🎸🤟
I totally agree!!!
The white hair. Edgar and his brother Johnny(another great musician) were albino.
I love watching people react to this song Edgar Winter is unbelievable. By the way people call me Frankenstein.
It was fun watching your reaction. Edgar wrote this song in the 60s and performed it with his brother Johnny. Back then he would jump over to his own drum kit..
