Bam was at his peak in the early 2000’s. Absolutely ruled the skating scene and was untouchable. On top of the world. Has his own style of skating and didn’t care what anyone thought of him. Truly one of the most humble and upstanding guys towards his fans.

My son and I are big fans of bams skating style. But truthfully.....if I seen him now...if would give him a quiet nod...if he was way over in southern illinois he would have to be trying to hide and find a place to skate.....after all the fun I've had watching him skate and do stunts. ...guess I we owe him that

Must be exhausting skating with all those people around. Knowing that every time you mess up, that a collective groan is coming your way. Equally as frustrating, I bet it's sometimes nice to bathe in the silence of success, which is impossible when people are cheering and chanting and clapping and truckbanging...
Bam has kind of confirmed what I already knew. Skateboarders are a simple breed of people. At their core, I think all they want to do is just skate in peace - that's it. In public, in private, whatever it takes to get some peace and quiet, and get away from the constant limelight.

Could never understand how he was a pro. All of his video parts were padded out with him wrecking cars and being a dick to his family and friends. I genuinely hope this guy gets help and recovers but him as a skater? Nah.

You're wrong man. Bam had a plateau yes but watch early 2000s vids he's a phenomenal transition skater, what he lacks in tech he makes up for by going big, skates switch almost as well as regular, and his varial heels down huge sets are top shelf, and well as his crooks. Sure he's more of a celeb now but was very progressive in his day.

His first pro part for toy machine had hijinx in it. That's part of the package with him.

Maybe if he came out with a decent street part with some good skating instead of him talking about himself. If he did that then I wouldn't think of him as that guy who doesn't deserve to be one of the top pro skaters because there are people out there who work ten times harder than he does and are ten times better.

He was pro for Toy Machine and sleeping at Ed Templeton, Tom Penny and Chad muskas house in Cali before you were wiping your own ass. He was one of the first skaters Nike ever sponsored back in the day. He went pro in a time when you didn't have to know how to do every single flip trick regular and switch like a robot. He has better style skating than any of these new aged kids.

I don't think it has ever been about "Hey everyone! Come look what I can do!" though I'm sure having friends with the same interest, in the same type of situation, is certainly appreciated by the pros. Plus, showing off is fun. Who doesn't like to strut their stuff every now and then? Around the right company, of course, not everybody is an extroverted exhibitionist. But having family and/or friends watch you grow and develop a skill that you love, is definitely a plus. Even more so when they share your passion.
