Jimin said it's a fan song which he made when they announced begining of their solo career.
I think it's a hidden track because he made it without commercial purpose.

I heard it last Friday when the album
Came out and I was at work and I just started crying because it was the most beautiful thing I have ever heard and Jimin is the purest soul full of care and warmth and it shows in his words and delivery. I have watched so so many album reactions and EVERYONE is saying that Letter is their favourite track, and I agree. It is so beautiful, and Jimin choosing to have Jungkook on this track, on his debut album, the person he is the closest to for this beautiful song is everything I have ever wanted (well other than it being available on streaming platforms)
@AceKook Stop being such a toxic solo stan. This is Jimin's heartfelt gift to ARMY and his and Jungkook's voices are interwoven beautifully at the end. And Jimin did write the song. Also, I don't understand why you would automatically assume their 'fav' was Jimin when it's clear they love both Jimin and JK (and no doubt all the members). Jungkook deserves better fans than those who would question and attack his genuine bonds with the members.

Both Jimin & JK share this special love/affection/attraction for Armys - they consistently also share a similar deep passion in performing on stage, especially for Armys. So I do understand that JK gets to do backup vocals for this Army song - it also symbolizes the beautiful connection/bond between Jimin & JK.

❣️So beautiful how BTS hidden track, like “Sea” and now Jimin’s “The Letter”, are mainly written just for army. It’s like a more personal private message by way of song, meant mainly for army. It ties in with albums topic of what Jimin went through, his inner thoughts, feelings, his emotions during pandemic. Jimin mentioned just how much army gave him so much support, showing their love, praise & faith in him, that helped him so much during this time. Only army would get the word out about this so heartwarming, so beautiful song. Though anyone who actually listens to the physical Ep will get the wondrous, ever delightful surprise when discovering this song as well. Also more and more are talking about it so ppl other then army are now hearing about this hidden gem as well!

Its a letter for ARMY according to Jimin, that's why he made it a hidden track and only available in physical album. Also the alternate/sub title registered in KOMCA for Jimin’s hidden track ‘Letter’ is ‘Dear ARMY’. 💜
I'm new to BTS, and I couldn't wait to buy the album. Most of my LPs I bought in the 1960's. Love Letter, and I think Army deserves something special for them. Buy it.

This song is exquisite. I think it's what many people have said: a hidden track for a hidden couple. Take a look at the notes in the CD package; there are handwritten lyrics there that Jimin wrote when he was first composing the song. He clearly wanted this to be a more obvious love song, but some of the lines got changed later. When asked today whom the song was for, he said ARMY, but what else could he say while living in Korea? And then Jungkook's WLive today ... most of it was all about Jimin. Make of that what you will.

Jungkook does the ad-libs towards the end. The backups earlier on is definitely jimin. Absolutely beautiful.
Imo, (and I am probably going to get hate) I think Jimin should have done his own backup vocals and ad libs a layered them in. Just for his first solo album. Jungkook really only came in towards the end. I love Jungkooks voice also but it was Jimins debut. Beautiful song, Beautiful Jimin and Jungkook...✌💜💜💜

Hidden tracks are for army.. the desert into sea metaphor is from sea the hidden track on the 5th album.. so lovely and especially, as you said m, the lightness of it … it contrasts with lyric “ not taken lightly” so beautifully…

I luv this song sooo much. Jimin’s voice is perfect for these lyrics, the sentiment, everything about. Oddly a secret that is probably the best song on the album. It doesn’t matter who he wrote it for, Army or JK, it is beautiful and meaningful for anyone who loves and is loved 💜💜💜💜💜🌸💕💐🌺💜💜💜💜💜

The way I interpreted the album, based on the lyrics, imagery and what Jimin himself has said; this was an album that touches upon his depression throughout the pandemic as well and his identity. Except for the hidden track (which reads exactly like a love letter. The interview he did on AERA magazine actually points more to him writing it for Jungkook and BTS rather than ARMY), I interpreted the album as him questioning who he is. Rather than alcohol (although it can be a big part of it), it feels like he used to get drunk on the fame and his work, and not that he was without it he was questioning who he was without it. SMF, for example, touches upon how the expectations from outside sources made him suppress a lot of who he was but no longer. n his interviews over the last few days Jimin said that this whole album is inspired by how he was so depressed over the pandemic. He found not performing in front of fans so hard and there are many times over the pandemic there were behind the scenes videos were he said how hard he found performing without fans.
He said it on swuchita with Suga, the song is for BTS and Armys.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

JK did the backing vocals, love when they harmonize . Like all hidden tracks, this song is for ARMY. Jimin stated this himself during his appearance in Suga's Suchwita Episode that released today on their YT channel. He explained that he wrote it after they announced their hiatus/lbreak from group work. So it expresses his hope that we will all still be there once they return from the military and that things wills till be the same between ARMY and BTS.

IS this a song for ARMY? I mean, that's what Jimin will say. Because of who he is, he pretty much has to say that. And I'm sure it is! ...in part.
But Jimin--especially these past few years--has put a firm boundary between himself and his fans. He's super private and doesn't have nearly as much of a parasocial relationship with ARMY as some of the other members do (ahem-JK). Jimin's definitely not "holding" his fans physically, nor does he call them "baby." And if you look at the photos of Jimin's writing notebook that were released with the Weverse album, you can see that the original lyrics he wrote for the first chorus were even more intimate and specific--and native Korean speakers have pointed out that the nebulous "you" was written as "you and you only" (당신만), not a plural "you."
I don't think any of us will ever know who this song was originally intended for, but I think it's pretty clear Jimin had someone specific in mind that inspired it. Even if it did end up being about ARMY, too.
Personally i think Jimin sees army as individual people, he is not as open as before but there are many things that could influence that change, be it the pandemic, the time he couldn’t interact with army in person, the time he couldn’t see army faces, because i've heard some fans saying Jimin in concerts always trys to looks at army faces and makes eye contact.
Maybe in the sketch he wanted it to feel more personal but at the end he decided to make it general.
And i don't think is very good to feed delusions like JK does, but everyone is different. They all changed specially after their global success and is natural because they matured and know there are more eyes watching them.
