*03:40* Ehm I don't want to say the government of Greenland/Denmark have no responsibility. But i wouldn't say a town, village, settlement or even an individual is entirely free of any responsibility when it comes to their waste. There is still a store that imports packaged goods, a consumer discarding and some people involved in establishing and filling a dump site. Soo…

It's mainly the Greenlandic an Danish authorities not providing the means and regulation required, but to say the locals are not to blame? That man was literally throwing his rubbish into the sea. That tour operator's expression said it all, really. That the locals just aren't very interested in addressing the issue. He's probably one of the few who do care.

There are landfills in Denmark and in all of Europe. It's hypocritical to single out Greenland because here the background is icebergs instead of the green lush forests or the cultivated fields that surround landfills on the continent. And as everywhere else people prefer invisible landfills hidden behind a hill or below the sea to the fumes of an incinerator.
The real solution is reducing waste (less packaging, more durable products, shaming avid consumption) and subsidizing recycling.

Being a Danish citizen who lived and worked in Nuuk, Greenland for 3 years, I've always wondered how this problem could be ignored. In my mind both the Greenlandic and Danish government should join forces to mitigate this environmental disaster and come up with viable and sustainable ways to solve the majority of these issues, instead of turning the blind eye and doing nothing. Huge gargo vessels are sailing between Greenland and Denmark every day, mostly carrying goods from Denmark to Greenland, while sailing near empty back again. Perhaps these massive vessels could load containers with waste for further processing in Denmark, where we have huge facilities to do just that. Come on, citizens of Greenland and Denmark... surely this is not an impossible mountain to climb. Get on with it...!

In my opinion Denmark bears a lot of responsibly for this.
If Denmark didn't go to them those people wouldn't have even known where Denmark is located let alone being in unity with it. So since Denmark forced itself onto them it should spend a small amount of money to help them since Denmark is a vastly wealthy country and the number of people in Greenland is so small.
A small amount of no more than $20 billion dollars could fix this whole thing and can help lift these people up from their dire situation but no because they are indigenous people not whities.

That "Jon Burgwald", character's comments are totally illogical. Just because a town is small does not mean it cannot have waste management.
I can see why Trump wants to save Greenland from the irresponsible Danes.

@Delilah Gillis yes let's do look at the facts let's see he's building wall to keep out illegals and illegal immigration so the legal immigrants who are trying to come to this country get a chance no more wasting tax dollars on illegals he gave everybody a job or two he raised the minimum wage to be $15 by 2021 and then to keep in flexing at a steady rate for years and generations to come and on top of all of that he went out and said gay citizens of the United States can be gay and be proud of it in any nation and if any persecution happens we will come and attack because the gays are our friends and there are citizens and you can't touch them but you go ahead and tell me any other country in the world that has done anything like this you can't and to be honest you couldn't have an intellectual conversation with me because I bet you couldn't even understand half of what I just said

All he does is sitting and crying when he get criticized! All he have done all these years at the Whitehouse is tweeting and play golf when he gets bored.
