I was a HBCU athlete(JacksonState Univ.) so I definitely understand. One of the players mentioned support and that’s the main thing HBCU’s need. Especially in Athletics, if you really trying to compete at a high level.
I also salute these guys. Keep pushing for change and equality. ✊🏾

That was a well thought out and intelligent letter to the president asking for what any student athlete needs and deserves. These young men should be proud of what they've accomplished and the wheels that they've put into motion. Keep making your voices heard.

I played ball at an HBCU, at the time we had the largest endowment of any HBCU in America (and the most expensive tuition)and I experienced this kind of struggle. These colleges have been in existence for over 100 years and they owe our young Men way more than what they are getting. It should be incredibly embarrassing to administrators to see their young people have this kind of experience in college, one of the greatest times of development in their life

It takes a village even in college… parents/families stay engaged with and advocate for your young adult as they transition into college. College is a business, it’s expensive, there are many rules, dates, and deadlines that a young person can get lost in.

Issues they need to take a look at?? I played for FAMU 95-99! We dealt with this same mess and we had a winning historical team!! Rehashing the hurt all over again!

I understand the pain. And I respect the chances you guys took. Make it count now. Another log on the fire. Another reason to keep going till you reach that destination. Another Purpose.

NCAA is at fault. For this and other issues like this thats going on with student athletes. A few brave souls should look at the terms of a scholarship where the school fail to fulfill their part there should be a penalty file suit against school conference and Ncaa.

Come on now…. We won’t the same love that we give out on the field to be reciprocated! Awesome comment!
I pray this upcoming season doesn’t see these same obstacles!

The LOVE of money may be the root of all evil, however money as a tool makes the world go round. If for a moment many may say money is not a problem at HBCU. Ask that same crowd to consider exchanging the budget allocation of most HBCU with that of most PWI, if money woes are not the root of evil.
