Abusive relationships always start like that, he say some bad stuff and you ignore, he hits you and you forgive him... you are just telling him it's okay to treat you like that and things gets worse and worse, until one day he won't stop. Never accept any type of abuse, fisical or emotinal, if a guy can call you names and hold you against your will, he can also do much worse.

FOR FUCKING REALS. This was exactly the reason why I could never get into this drama. I remember trying to watch this all those years ago as a young teen, and I knew that this was not for me because of his abusive behavior--it's honestly disgusting. I was also frustrated with how the FL was given little to no agency when it came to dealing with this asshole. This dude doesn't need a girlfriend, he needs therapy.

But this drama is really toxic, like forcing a guy to suicide, bullying a girl, almost getting her raped, trying to buy her from the money, spreading her pictures and rumours that she slept with a guy and had abortion, parents forcing her to be with him cause he is rich, her choosing him even though he treats her like trash. All this is really toxic and lowkely looks like a fanfiction. And there's also a forced kiss sequence if I am not wrong.

I saw BOF the moment it was released and I was a teenager at that time. Back then, F4 and Junpyo were so cool in my eyes, but after rewatching it now I see that they were quite toxic, abusive... I feel so bad for Jandi and she deserved so much better throughout the series. To end up with someone who is so violent, gets easily jealous if you have male friends and can’t even trust you is hell on earth. And the fact that he gets aggressive with her too. She lied sure but it was literally just a picture they took and she’s allowed to hang out with other guys that aren’t him or f4. The fact that he couldn’t even look at the photo and tell her she looked good or anything and only thought to be angry with her shows he’s not cut out for a relationship. Poor jandi :(

I totally liked this K-drama a lot, I must say , but can we just talk about the fact that Jandi let Junpyo bit the model until to the point he was bleeding, couldn't she have stopped Junpyo ?or at least tried to? instead she waited and watched everything until she finally said something.

I was a big fan of this drama before (when I was still in my teen age years). I've probably watched it almost 3 times and introduce kdramas to me. But as I grow older I realized how toxic almost all of the relationships here. All the bullying, the cheating and the fighting for the girl even though they were best friends. Honestly, I can't watch this show again because of the scenes that are cringy or if not upsetting.

Okay so:
I watched this summer 2014 and I remember loving it. It started my kdrama passion and I would recommended to everyone. I listened to the OST, I cried my worse heartbreak to those songs and fell in love again, and all along, the songs accompany me. In a nutshell, this drama was extremely meaningful to me.
Fast forward 2020 watching this plus other clips, I realized how terrible everything and everyone are!!! Ugh! From the classmates to the F4, to poor Jandi, the only guy I kind of endured is the orange hair guy but even he isn’t doing anything to stop violent Jun Pyo!!! The only reasonable one was the model and he was beaten the crap out of.
This drama is terribly toxic and I would not recommend it because we shouldn’t normalize abuse, jealousy and violence

He really did love her, he cared so much about her and he hated to see her crying because of Jun Pyo and he was always there for her whenever she and Jun Pyo fell out like the harsh way he broke up with her in Macau Jihoo was with her to make sure she was Ok he even tried to convince Jun Pyo to see her. He was always by her side and never abandoned her. How could anyone not love Jihoo he's so cute and has a heart of gold first Seohyun and then Jan Di. He was rejected by his two loves. Heck in real life if I ever meet a guy like Jihoo I'm keeping him ❣❣❣

I can't believe our whole household loved this drama years ago. Everyone was so excited everytime this was aired, but watching this again, even by bits and clips, I can't stand a minute of it. OMG were we hypnotized that time? Haha
It seems Junpyo can kick any person's ass with no legal reprecussions. The victims of his rage don't seem to get timely medical care. Suspension of disbelief gets stretched to the breaking point with scenes like this.
In real lif, he would have been in prison!
What I don’t like about this drama is how all of his abusive behavior is accepted, expected, ignored, encouraged, enabled, and even rewarded in the end. Now, I don’t know who made the decision to make this story and call it a romance but MAKE BETTER DECISIONS!!!!
I will forever stand by this. Yes he changed throughout the series. But he was 100% toxic, yes he couldn't help it because of his background but no excuse. Guem Jan Di should have ended up with Yoon Ji Hoo. He treated her like a queen. Whenever she was destroyed he was there to make her feel better.

The male protagonist is toxic, the plot is basic (poor female protagonist and rich male protagonist), also we have fucking amnesia. In the other hand, there is a lot of kdramas with better plot and with a non-toxic relationship but of course you prefer a man that scream, hit walls and grab you by the neck. Sorry if you like this drama but is the truth.

This drama was based on 90s Japanese manga comic "Hana Yori Dango". And back in the 90s, this storyline hasn't become basic yet. That manga was one of the first which portrayed rich guy and poor girl. After that, other mangas and dramas followed it and this plot became common. Also, this drama was one of the first dramas which made Hallyu wave and K-drama popular, that's why it might not be the best by today's standard, but it's a legend.

Everyone is talking about how Jun Pyo was abusive, overcontolling, possessive Jandi shouldn't have chosen. him some people also went has far as making F4 as F3 .I know that he shouldn't have beaten Haje and pulling Jandis collar was bad ,but why is no one talking about how he changed? Haje even kidnapped Jandi in the later episode, he was send by Jun puys Mom to create all this mess. Jun pyo was first abusive but later he totally felled and changed for her. He even went against his Mom for her. This drama has one of the best character development.
I think almost all commentaries are related with the fact that we don't have to justify this type of behavior, because in the reality the guys who have this kind of problems don't change because of one person, they change because they realize that something it's wrong with their behavior and it takes them a lot of time to make real changes (no like in the dramas).
This type of dramas can make you believe that you can be in a relationship with someone who has a lot of problems and for love, you can resist everything and ¡NO!
Maybe he loves you, but the way he loves it's not in a healthy way, so you have to avoid it prioritizing yourself and your stability.

Guys , don't think Junpyo is a bad guy. He is just can't articulate his true and unabashed feelings for Jandi. He also doesn't know how to control his jealousy. As the show, "Boys Over Flowers", goes on it gets better. This is on netflix. As well as the Chinese remake "Meteor Garden", I believe, which is just as awesome! 🤗 I hope everyone will enjoy these ! They are awesome series'

There are a lot of dramas that show the toxic side of relationships... The art lets us know there are many people in life that do despicable things and also lets us know the reasoning behind doing such things... And finally growing into better people... BOF showed this growth process beautifully for its characters. 🤗
I remember getting a huge amount of dislikes on a review I made at Viki app on Boys over flowers stating how extraordinarily toxic was the relationship between the two main characters xD

This was and still is my best k drama of all time
he was toxic and emotionally abusive towards her. When you start seeing it, you can see that the drama really isn't that great
I don't care what people say, but I have watched more than 30 dramas and this drama remains in my top 3... idk there is something special about this drama. I just love it sooo much some parts are toxic and cringy and I do agree but it gets better and better... it is just iconic. period.
At first I liked it but he just kept getting more abusive and there’s nothing special about this it has such a basic plot..

I haven’t watched this drama in so long, but Junpyo rly is soo toxic, idc if they’ve had cute moments, he always jumps to conclusion, disses any guy she becomes friends with, blames her for everything, puts his hands on her, manipulates her into thinking she’s the bad guy all the time, and like haje said, he doesn’t trust her. She just deserves better, honestly.
Now that I'm rewatching this scene, I hate how JunPyo reacted.
But I will always love this series *Boys over flower* 💙 So much memories!

This drama traumatized me, I never rewatched it again. I only watch clips here on YT because I love the actors. The abuse she faced from him in the name of "crazy love", his mom also terrorized her and her family, his violence towards other people, the bullying at school that went unresolved. I just 🤯.
The character Gu Jun Pyo was all about character development through love in this drama. I know it seems toxic here but people who have watched the whole drama know it.

Lee minho was so toxic (his character). If he didn't get her he practical embarrassed her saying the worst thing a guy can do. He when she liked Ji hoo he practical exiled both of them. Thinking back this drama was actual really bad lol.
