I think it is a common problem in kendo that a lot of people "know" that we do things a certain way, but many of us do not know -why- we do these things. I also think it comes from being taught these things without explanation. Without that explanation, it is hard to accept some teachings outside of a "looking correct for gradings" perspective. But I'm sure there was a reason for them all originally!
Thank you for your comment, Ben Simpson!😀 Hope you liked the video. The do (way) is to seek your way. Of course, teachers will show you what to do and how to do it with/without explanation. Even when we receive everything we need to know, we cannot fully understand what it is. It might take years to realize what it is. But yes, it is always good to know why and why not we should and should not do certain things. And study them and tweak them. And they will become a part of you. The do (way) never ends as long as you don't quit walking on it 💪🙂
one of the best instructors I have had (judo sensei) when he was told about some error in the execution he always told us: things are as I explain them, not how I show them
Thank you for your comment, Academia Cheung!😀 That is deep and very true. 😀👍We all have to go through the basics and from a certain point, we start seeking what works for ourselves.
Thank you for your comment, Reni Murdini!😀 Hope you liked the video too. My father started kendo at the age of 55. He loved it and enjoyed it. Great explanation, and natural, I think kendo must be natural, not forced, and all the paths are different, and beauty just let's keep it that way.
Thank you always, sensei.
Thank you very much for posting!
