I use a Jackery 2000 pro. It has a built in UPS built in. Other features you like are % for battery life. I’m running a Harman P35i and it’s run watts are as low as 68w (maintenance burn) 168 with auger and fan at medium. 238w during ignition. The Jackery 2000 pro also has estimated run time real time calculated at current wattage draw I’ve seen it drop from 14.4 hours to 8.8 hours. (Obviously those are estimates but nice) my UPS test simulated 1 hour power loss during regular run/settings consumed 6% (100% start 94% end) so the 14.4 hours estimated seems to be close. Subtract 20% to compensate for aging battery I estimate an old Jackery 2000 Pro could still power 10/11 hours
Your pellet stove was probably running hotter on the auto setting than the low/manual setting on this day you filmed. I live in NY state. My basements unfinished, and my comfortbilt runs on the "3" setting in cold January, versus running it on the "4" setting because it runs too hard and emits an odor. I generally only run the stove on "4" after start up when it's below 10F like it is tonight. The manuals usually tell you not to run them all the way up for too long, anyway. I'm glad to see that in that space it appears to be comfortable. But, yourself living in PA, and depending on the age of your home, or the location of the stove, my guess is your stove is at least running on the "2" or equivalent setting in your home on auto and you've just figured it out in this video. Sorry I saw this like two years late.
I use a Surefire 512 inverter/charger and a 200 amp deep cycle battery for backup power for my Harman P-68. I opted for the Surefire 512 because it was one of two sources of backup power recommended by Harman. The smaller unit was only intended to safely shut down the pellet stove in case of a power outage so you don’t get smoke in your house. This unit can run as long as you would like it to because you can run multiple batteries in parallel. Living in Minnesota there are many nights well below zero and I use the P-68 as the only heat source for my house.
Can you tell me how it's working out with your pellet stove? I'm still trying to find the best way to prevent smoke in the house in the event of a power outage 🤷
@@m.s.3436 the Surefire 512 has worked beautifully whenever I’ve tested it. I have had only one actual power outage of a few hours since I’ve had it but the power was restored by the time I got home from work. But my pellet stove was still operating normally so I have to assume that the 512 worked as it was supposed to. It was expensive but it gives me great peace of mind as I tend to work 14 hour days quite often and have been very impressed with my Harman P-68. Even when it’s 20 degrees below zero the Harman heats my whole house. It is a smaller well insulated house but still it’s quite impressive.
Thanks for this video! I have been thinking about getting one of these solar generator packs for running our pellet stove during a power outage, and I was wondering how many hours I would get out of it. It seems like it would make the most sense to get two or three of them and swap them out over the course of the day/night. Your idea about extra batteries is also a good one. Might be a little cheaper.
If you look down in the description I have a link to a Titan solar generator. With the Titan you can connect as many batteries as you want to it. It also will except 500-4000 watts of solar panels. Just another option I will be making a video on the Titan soon
Thanks for putting this together! Interested in a pellet stove, so found this interesting. I also find the "solar generators" to be good tools for folks who need an "all in one" solution, with the understanding that not everyone is familiar with batteries, solar, wiring, etc. Personally, I find them very expensive for what they are, as you can get batteries and an inverter way cheaper with a much higher capacity.
300 watts is a lot for running wattage on a pellet stove. I am considering ones that are under 1 amp hour to get max time on my inverter battery system which has about 6000 watts output before the lead acid batteries hit 50%. That way we can run the battery backup all night and recharge with the generator in the daytime. Thx.
Would love to see how long it would last with the solar panels or if it could while using it. I bet it would run off the solar panels most of the day. Plus with the 2400 one it would help out a bunch.
If you look in the description I have a link for one called a Titan that I think will be better. I’m sure it would last longer with solar if the sun is out it would not drain the battery at all. Here in pa during the winter the sun is never out. With the Titan that I am getting you can hook up 2000 watts of solar
@@DIYJIM I do like that the titan. It seems like a well built, well thought out generator. Better than this generator, but also more cost, and is backordered until June.
I have a question? if the Bluetti is plugged in and the power really goes out!! is the Harman stove plugged into the Bluetti and will it automatically switch over to the Bluetti and keep the stove running and will it automatically switch back to charging when power comes on ? otherwise you need to act quick when power goes out? If not i wonder if there is one that can do this that would be ideal :-)
@@DIYJIM True i was looking at that one too but the Bluetti looked interesting too bad they do not add that feature Eh!! Just bought a Comfort built pellet stove Hp61 and was looking into how to keep it running when the power goes out. Thanks for your response Cheers :-)
Hi DIY Jim . I have a blaze king Sirocco 2.01 woodstove with two- 30 watt fans ( blower). I thinking about buying a Bluetti EB3A power station which runs 268 wh and has a 600 watt invertor and to handle peak loads ( by lowering voltage). How long do you think I could run my woodstove blower in case of power outage ? Does it a reasonable proposition to you ? Thanks 😊
I have a Quadra Fire pellet stove. Maybe 10 years old. I asked a sales guy if I used A Solar generator would it work. He said No because it would drain the charge down just when the stove would fire up. I didn't even tell Him the kind of watts I had or what kind of generator. He seemed confident. But I see it wasn't the case with yours experiment. Do you disagree with what he told me? I was so hoping a solar generator would be my answer. Because I don't know how to heat the house if the power goes down. Gas generator needs fuel. If my electric goes down that means the gas station is down too. I don't want to store much gas. For safety reasons of course. Please, Do have an answer for me ? Was he wrong for telling me it wouldn't work? Thank you.
I definitely think he was wrong but I don’t think it will work for days unless you have a big solar generator and a lot of panels with a lot of sun. Check out my Titan generator it’s bigger. I might make a video with it th-cam.com/video/nkgF_1K4_b4/w-d-xo.html

Another option for those with RVs would be to use the rv battery in the off season paired with a pure sine wave inverter to run the stove.

If you set your auger feed to the lowest setting and the temp gauge to the lowest setting, that would give you more time. Or i think it would
