@@NewLayer Do you think I could put these behind the edge of my desk which is metal. I find the regular govee rbg lights always break or malfunction. I'm don't with those tape lights. Would one of these magnetic ones be good to light the wall behind my desk and monitor?
@@jcap8391 I used a 4' tube light exactly the way you're describing, and it worked great! I had a metal cable management thing that it sat on/magnetically attached to, and pointed it upwards, and it was super easy, and way better than strip lights. A 2-light kit of 2' lights might be a bit more flexible, and allow for multiple colors too, which might be cool.
I have 3 Godox TL30s. I love them! Compact, buttons and dial are easy to use, and visually pleasing to look at even when off. However, I do wish they came with a better carrying case (like the zipper case of the TL60) and mini tripods. Guessing cost is the factor for those 2 being left out.
They are great little lights. Pretty on par with things like the Nanlite Pavotube II 6C. I may be selling mine since I don’t have a full set, just in case you’re interested in a 4th 😄

Hey! I was wondering if you could let me know which light is which when you show them all side by side at 0:13 intro the video. In the future it would be great to see all side by sides labeled so that we know how the look to the eye compared together. Thanks!
Is the diffusion on the Falcon Eyes significantly better than the GoDox TL60's? Also, do you have affiliate links for the 4 pack of TL60's? When I click over to the 4 packs the URL gets significantly shorter so I'm guessing they're stripping out the affiliate links when I change SKU's.
Yes it is much more opaque. The Godox lights are some of the least diffused, so if that’s very important for you, I’d stay away from them. And no worries on the links, as long as you click mine, you can browse around and I’ll still get credit if you buy something else. Thanks for the support!
Thank you for the video! For the next one you do about tube lights would you mind putting them all side by side with their respective names so we see how they compare in size?
Hi! Great video! Really good review! I have a question, what is order of lights in video? It's different from that on your review. I'm interested of the first three (the smallest one's) starting from the left - on miniature :) Thanks for reply!
The ones in the thumbnail from left to right are the Luxceo P200, Iwata Master S, and Soonwell MT1. I am selling the Iwata and Soonwell lights, so DM me on Insta if you're interested! @newlayercom
In some ways yes, which is why they are as expensive as they are. Features-wise one of the cheaper options in the Soonwell MT1 matches it. The MT1 is waterproof but the IRISA is bigger and has changeable batteries, so each light has its pros and cons and it just depends on your needs. Personally I like the skinnier tubes because mounting them with regular T12 hardware is easier, but others may prefer the girth 😅
@@mikeyfl No problem! I won't be keeping my IRISA 2, so if you're interested in a very slightly used one to save some money, DM me on Insta @newlayercom
If I had to pick 1 light from this batch it'd probably be the Soonwell MT1. The battery lasts around 2 hours 45 minutes at 100% power, so around double that at 50% power, etc. I'm keeping mine! Hope that helps.
Looks like Lumin8 might be a dead company. I've got two of their 4' tubes and one of the usb C ports just... broke off. No luck in contacting or finding an online store, the attached email addresses no longer work. Sad because I actually love these in their longer form. Out of curiosity, do you have a clear favorite for 4' or longer tube lights as I'm now forced to look for replacements?

Pavotube II 6C, II 15X, and II 30X: geni.us/nanlitepavotube6cii, geni.us/nanlitepavotubeii15x, geni.us/nanlitepavotubeii30x
Neither is better really, the LC500R is bigger and brighter while the TL60 is smaller and a better fit for use in-frame in my opinion. Just depends on your needs.
The far right is the Godox TL60, and the second to farthest right is the SGC Lights Prism 60. The Falcon Eyes IRISA 2 is longer than both of those, but it's not in those shots. Hope that helps :)
Thanks for a great video! I have a small army of Aputure lights for my gaffing work, so the SGC prism seems like the ticket... However, I have heard that the output might not be great (compared, say, to quasar rainbows)? Any thoughts on that? Thanks!
I've never used the Quasar Rainbows, so can't comment on those specifically, but they are in the same range of brightness as the Nanlite Pavotubes, Godox TL60, and other tube lights of the same size. There's only like 1/3 stop difference between all of them for the most part, so not a big difference. I'm hoping Aputure releases some tube lights soon, and if possible, I'd try to hold out for that. Over time the Prism has become less reliable connecting with Sidus Link, so if that's your biggest selling point, it could be an issue. You can compare the photometrics of lots of tube lights here: newlayer.com/gear/lights/compare?light1=Godox+TL60&light2=SGC+Prism+60
Do you know which brand that match's up with Quasar science light quality? im not using them as practical lights but for actually lighting a scene with only tube lights
Pretty much every modern tube light will be as good when it comes to color accuracy when compared to the Quasar tubes. There are a few exceptions, but I don't every really cover those because they aren't worth buying.
The Godox is 1/3 stop brighter and more color accurate in CCT mode, but the Pavotube has better diffusion and more professionally useful special effects. Pavotube also feels a but more well made, but that also means the TL30 feels lighter. Both are great and you can create just as good content with either. You can compare them here: newlayer.com/gear/lights/compare?light1=Godox+TL30&light2=Nanlite+Pavotube+6C+II Hope that helps :)
