    Again enthusiastic material. A piece of beautiful nature. And those asphalt-like undulating rocks and between them a stream in the color of a tea with lemon. Just a fairy tale!

    Very cool. First time I have seen the type of habitat where Galaxias live. I've always been curious, as they very much remind me of trout and I've imagined that their habitat would be similar... it is and it isn't, like I said, very cool! The species which I think is most similar to trout is Galaxias truttaceus and judging by its species name, so did the ichthyologist who described it. I think Galaxias truttaceus would make a fantastic target for your next adventure. It would be nice to show trout anglers that Australia has its own type of "trout" and get the message out to conserve native Galaxias!

      Thank you very much! I’d love to find them. I recently found some Blackfish which also look similar to Galaxias but are bigger, if you haven’t seen them before I’d recommend checking them out. I actually found them on the next mountain over from this one and it was interesting to see how different the two looked despite being so close to one another

      @@murkyseb another great video, I've never heard of blackfish before, they remind me of a cross between a cod and a cichlid. Thanks for bringing the experience of your countries aquatic wildlands to us. It's very unique and I expect that your channel will grow a great deal as your exposure increases. It's exactly the type of material I'm most interested in.

      @@AguabonitaAquatics I'm glad now another person knows about the blackfish! They are actually closely related to the Murray cod, if you'd like to see some I uploaded a documentary on them a few days ago.
      I'm really glad to hear you enjoy learning about Australia's aquatic creatures :) the TH-cam algorithm rarely recommends my videos but hopefully people find them eventually. I will continue making them regardless

      I was unable to find out why they were named, i know galaxias means milky, probably because of their skin looking milky in appearance? I dont know for sure though

    Well said about trout Seb! They are a pest and nothing more. They should be treated like rabbits and cane toads. Not enough people appreciate their impact, and many lay people I have found actually think they are native, especially in Tasmania (like "Tasmanian" salmon). There is a wealthy trout fishing lobby which will not accept any criticism.

    • @murkyseb
      @murkyseb  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, im glad other people realise how bad they are and how stupid it is having them in our waterways!
      If only there was someone in a position of power that realised this and would stand up to that wealthy trout fishing lobby
