Lyrics:
[Intro]
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
"There's just one thing I wanna say.."
The reel to reel to reel to reel yo
"There's just one thing I wanna say.."
Copy copy copy copy copy
"There's just one thing I wanna say.."
We gonna hit it down like this, y'all know the flav
"There's just one thing I wanna say.."
Uh, Alamo, is you wit me?
"What goes around comes back around again.."
Stud Doogie, is you wit me?
"What goes around comes back around again.."
S.O.S., is you with me?
"What goes around comes back around again.."
Yo this how we gon' bust it down, yo you know the flavor
"What goes around comes back around again.."
You know what time is it, check it yo, this how we flow
[Verse 1]
Here comes the Puba and you know I won't fake it
Usually bust records on gettin' butt naked
Made for the Benzi, drive a nigga trendy
Pump the tape, grab your dick, get with the Puba frenzy
C'mon honey sing, don't you, try to eject
"Slow Down" is what you say, once my joint gets erect
Some try to copy but they just can't sketch it
Some try to follow but they just can't catch it
With the boom boom tap, yeah alla dat
Huh, I'm livin fat, me fall off, there'll be none of that
See who's the one to flip it? Quick to tell a nigga to zip it
Stud drink the forty cause we ain't got time to sip it
Grand Puba, God body
Kick some of them, some of those, and some yardies
As dope as they come, suckers sing or hum
Don't try to step to this, you know your shit is slum
First, batter up well here's the pitch - it's a curve
Second, batter up because the first got served
The one who arouse, as I browse for a blouse
Kick styles by the piles, as I leave a trail for miles
Skins when I please, hit from here to Tel Aviv
I'm gettin G's, no more time for the line of free cheese
Here's the four one one hon, the one who gets the job done
I know you know the flavor of the Puba
[Hook]
"What goes around comes back around again.."
Yeah yeah yeah yeah, na-nah nah nah nah, this how we bump it yo!
"What goes around comes back around again.."
Yaknahmsayin? Big Jeff in the house, we gon' move it like this
"What goes around comes back around again.."
Ha hah, Baby Pop Baby Pop in the house, bust how we bust it down
"What goes around comes back around again.."
Y'all you know the flavor
Sincere Allah, check check check check!
[Verse 2]
Okay okay okay, what more could I say?
Alamo get the boom and parlay parlay
I'm far from the average, civilize the savage
When I'm low on protein, I'm with the bean soup and cabbage
Skins on the diet, kick the flavor, cause a riot
Do a show and get the dough and then I'm off to the Hyatt
Sometimey on the spliff, ain't no and's or if
And if you really wanna riff you just might end up playin' stiff
Girbauds hangin' baggy, Hilfiger on the top
Knapsack on the back, that's just my flavor, akh
As my man gives a zigga zigga, watchin three grow bigga bigga
To Pos K, that's my nigga
Here goes the wreck, whaddayou expect?
If you wanna see some wreck, send cash, not a check
Grand Puba, more than a public figure
Quick to kick the bone up the butt of a gold digger
Now Tic-Tac-Toe means I hit three in a row
If I do a show, then you better have my dough
Low, low, well how low can you go?
Call on Grand Puba if you really need a pro
Cause my shit's more rugged than G.I. Joe
Don't front honey, act like you know
Now big up to my Brooklyn mob (Brooklyn! Brooklyn!)
Big up to my Uptown mob (Uptown! Uptown!)
Now brothers wanna diss me cause it's my turn to burn
My best advice for the brothers is to sit back and learn
I don't diss nobody to be somebody
I just like to kick the flavor to make the people party
See all I'm sayin' is respect due
Those who tried to follow, sorry I left you
Grand Puba, Stud Doogie, and Alamo
So if you ever want the flavor you know where to go
Now how we go
[Outro]
Yeah, ha ha ha!
The reel to reel, yeah yeah yeah, this is how we move it
You know the flavor, y'all know the flavor, you know the flavor
Here we go yo, and you don't stop (big up to all the people)
Big up! Big up!
Big Jeff hold tight! Ha hah, ha hah!
On and on y'all
Time to get gone
Word is bond

Why isn't Grand Puba mentioned among great MC'S like Kool G Rap,KRS One,Rakim and others. No gimmicks just straight dope lyrics from a master MC!
Not enough material imo. Same for Treach/wise intelligent. Super dope MCs though
His flow and ability to make words blend is unique, even in 2023
This guy deserves much more success. He was really good
on gawd
The God is Supreme
how much success does one man need?
Great voice no..auto tune!
@@ctb7376 loooool we don't hear about him or alot of the pioneers with real talent
It is a travesty this man is never mentioned in a conversation about the greats...truly unmatched wit,skill,flow...peace to the god!!!
his lyrics were anti crack and telling men to take responsibility for their community, can't have that
@@zxcccccc1 of course not…Brand Nubian plus Puba solo joints..still in heavy rotation
Grand Puba the Originator! Nobody sounded like him. And I love a man who has a way with words! ❤️
@@claudetteh67 if you never heard It is what it is off of Retroactive..go listen!!!
Well to be fair I think people know.
I just think it was due to his lack of discography. Puba was almost like Kool G Rap in the sense insanely nice with it but laid low when it came to the popularity.
People knew he was deal (as well as Kool G Rap) but they played the background.
Puba is one of the goat rappers of his day... Don't take my word, listen to his verses on One for All, dude was gifted.
@@glennlyons2178 one of one. There's nobody ever in the game like him
Real hip hop fans know about Grand Puba
Slow down was when I first heard
Puba I was 13

Facts!
My good ol' days in high school!!! The 90's...
Grand Puba one of the best!
Sooooo underrated...
Mine, too!
Grand Puba is a straight wordsmith. A dying breed amongst these newer rappers 😎
Flow was literally the most important thing back in the days, now these new skool fools don’t even think about what they’re spitting!
grand puba put us on to dressing with name brands in the early 90's...this shit was dope
He mainly brought out girbauds for us. We was already wearing Lee's, mcm, Gloria Vanderbilt Lee's with mock necks 3 finger rings name belts and gazelles and bk's
Yasss... Tommy Hilfiger owe him royalties.....I'm almost certain of it :)
'cause of Puba I use to rock rugby polos in high school
@@serantav same here bro
So true,,,,, the 90s float was off the chain ⛓️💯,,,, wearing used jeans 👖,,,,,, guess,,,,, Polo,,,,, major damage,,,, and of course Tommy,,,,,, 90s fashion were the best,,,, and Grand poobah made it all (worthwhile)!👍
This guy has one of the best wordplay in the game. Fact!
Grand Puba is so underrated.

Grand Puba: "I don't diss nobody to be somebody, I just like to kick the flava to make people party!"

Bars for days and the beat, well that's just magical!
The 90s was the best of time for music and (fashion),,,, Grand poobah was so slick,,,, is lyrics was (off the chain ⛓️)💯👍
NYC 92 93 94 95 was the best Tommy had all the dopest hits
Donna Graham Word is Bond
Im a rap music check its out and check me on TH-cam and check me out 3rd bass and in 1990 😀🎶🎤
Word is life!!! 💯
It was the best hits but he also had some shady contracts. Artists on the label never saw their royalities.
This is older than that
"Girbauds hangin' baggy, Hilfiger on the top..."
-That's that 90's swag, no doubt.
Grand Puba is Hip Hop hidden gem man.
Definitely him and Mc Shan I just love their style of rap.
Summer of 1992!
Best summer ever!
13 yrs old going to the Empire Roller Skating Rink!
Whenever this hip-hop/rap, jam/tune/song came on; it was pure fun!
Best of times!
Respect to Grand Puba and Brand Nubian!
Empire! Now that’s a straight classic. 💯
BROOKLYN... STAND UP!
Nothing will top the 90's, the music, the fashion, the vibes, the natural women damn wish I was born a decade earlier so I could've experienced it.
I tell ya, I was a teen and it was the best music and dance era EVA!!! I WOULD GO BACK IN A HEARTBEAT!!! (Sorry for the all caps) I just really miss when music spoke from the heart and soul!!!😊
The 90's ain't got shit on the 80's.. music, styles, etc....
It was a time to be alive I tell you, the 90s was my teenage years, so you know that shit was 🔥
@@NADI-MICAH777 The 80s was cool, I was a child in the 80s unforgettable times.
U just don't know it was beautiful I was in college when this came out great times
Puba has one of the most unique flows/cadences I've ever heard.
That elastic cadence was popular in the '90s. They used to peak their inflections at the end of lines and really rhyme on beat, hittin' those snares hard.
Puba, Snoop Dogg, B Real and Eazy E are unique flows
I always thought Puba & Sadat X sound similar
Nice & Smooth Greg Nice n Smooth B very unique flow both played off each other with they styles Greg Nice was funny off the wall while Smooth B was a storyteller straight to the point miss the late 80s
Bruh his flow is Flawless!!!
When hip hop was real and had alot of dope creativity💯💯💯💯💯
Reel to reel
Girbaud hanging baggy Hilfiger on top. Napsack on my back. That's just my flava Ock. Lines I've live by back in 92-93.
Jay Gatling Yep
Jay Gatling Word
yes....he put us on to dressing fly
This man doesn't get any fuckin recognition for his style calibre. He signed an endorsement deal with T Hilfiger years before people even heard of Hilfiger!
I was just telling my people the same thing. Puba was my stylist...lol
RIP Stud Doogie🙏🏿🕊"Stud Doogie is you with me"
Puba's flow was nice. One of those situations that have you wondering why he didn't take off into something bigger. I mean, he had a strong presence in the game early 90s, but suddenly flew off radar after his second album. I always thought Puba had one of the most original voices and styles in hip hop. He never gets the credit he deserves. I'm still bumping this track heavy 🔥
Gangsta rap took off. The media would rather push violent music than conscious rap. Gotta fill those prisons up
Yeah it seems like he should've been bigger. Music is filled with such acts. In any event he made this jam here so he did good.
@@khalilharris5204 tru dat. Arrested Development became the butt of jokes, but their message was awesome. Got drown out by The Chronic and The Predator.
Gangster rap took over...music exec wanted violence in the streets not knowledge
Go go go go go yes
Bumping this Grand Puba in 2020.. Man, the lyrics were sick!!!!
Happy Belated 55th Birthday to Grand Puba 2021!!!
I wish he owned his music

SHO DO!!!...LOVE THIS SONG!....LOVE BRAND NUBIAN!,,,GRAND PUB ARE YA WIT MEH???
Calling out the garbage early. As it's done. Thank you so much
voice is crazy grand legend!!
Grand Puba started way back Maxwell like in 82-83 and was for runner to Rakim with word flow. He really was ahead of everybody by the early 90’s. He always a step head with the fashion and street lingo. A true trend setter without a doubt and Puffy always stay close to him and kinda was like riding Puba‘s wave. Yeah Puffy was a clout chaser at that time. Puba shows up on Mary’s joint cause they really this dudes clout. He also repped the lessons of 5 percent nation hard was a man amongst the people just like Rakim when he came on the scene in ‘86. So I’m saying all this to say he is my #1MOST UNDERATED RAPPER EVER. 2. Treach 3. Ice T 4. Will Smith 5. King T or Tragedy Khadafi. That’s how I saw and see it. Peace
backto83 Yeah this nigga is really dope. I love how u gave “Treach” his props as well.
Yeah mayne his first group masters of ceremony dropped there first track in 85 and dropped there album in 88 puba produced most of the album.. It's a golden era classic.. If you Aint herd it ya definitely should peep it 💯.. ✌️
Masta Ace is definitely up there too
I like the fact you had Will Smith on the underrated list....Because Will's style was light hearted and comedic ppl didn't see how clever he was. Also he stayed true to who he was as a rapper. But Grand Puba Maxwell is the #1 underrated rapper ever...Didnt get the true recognition he deserves.Another underrated rapper is Pharoah Monch
Definitely Will Smith underrated
Best time in hip hop!!!!!
True Legend!!!
gotta love real hip hop
Puba still schooling!
real hip hop...
MAN that dude had serious flow back then. He would kill a track!!! 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
Love some grand puba big up
This is what you call real Hip Hop!!!! He didn't move any ki's or catch any bodies on this record!!!! Don't front ninja act like you know!!!! Classic!!!
This Song A Mtfking CLASSIC!🙌🏽
If there's a list for most under rated MC...Grand Puba Maxwell is at the top of the list.Swag, lyrical content, original slang and clothing style. He was ahead of everyone.Doesnt get the proper recognition he deserves. But true heads know the deal.
CL Smooth right behind him.Pete Rock probably top 3 Producers of all time, but nobody and their mother talks about his Emcee.!!!LMAO
Puba must be facing downhill cuz GODDAMN HE FLOWIN’
Puba always had lyrics!!! Reel to Reel & 2000 always get regular play from me!!! Gotta add What's the 411 with Mary!!!
Classic!
Grand puba was dope!!!
Great music is timeless.

Yo MTV Raps
Ahh....memories. ❤❤😩
MTV classic brought me here.....😁
Puba is an underrated MC... I miss the days when hip hop was about style and originality and biting was frowned upon. You can tell Puba spent plenty of time on the mic at park jams when this shit was real.
