This brush up on rocks is wonderful!! This reminds me of the water/rocks/rapids in streams running beside the roads in the Smoky Mountains. Incredible opportunities to paint and I have made so many pictures through the years that I could use as inspiration. Your methods bring everything to life on the canvas. Thank you so much!!
Mostly, they mixes would be the same, but you would have to change some color progressions because I let the underpainting dry before moving to the next layer.
Wow this is very helpful ...I’ve just painted my first landscape and my rocks grew very big and round ...I will paint them out and re do them ..hopefully to look like yours 😊
Nice explanation of painting rocks……first define the planes: light source (top), receding side, and shadow. Next begin to work in the broken colors…breaking up edges with warm and cool colors, to create visual interest. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this great lesson on rocks. I have a few of your books and am looking for a video on the Painting Landscapes Vol. 1. Have you ever made them available?
