Stronger than telepathy is empathy. Stringer than mind to mind is heart to heart. Seeing into the heart of the matter with connection brings enlightenment. Excellent story.

Like the story a lot. A difficult situation that didn't end in blood and guts. Thanks

Liked the story so much that I recommended the channel to my Sci-fi book group. I'm confused by the comment about military protocol when it's a fictional story. You could have privates or civilians being saluted by generals and no one should care unless it doesn't make sense for the story being told. Did they complain when Sharpe written by Bernard Cornwell was promoted from the ranks.

Thank you very much, I really appreciate it, I ignore the bad comments, because sometimes people just want to vent their sadness on someone

The author of this story has no knowledge of military protocols

Worse than I served in the army... but some things go unnoticed

Trapped in our disconnected, individuated bodies, humans do not yet have the advantage of the aliens strong telepathy. However, even with that advantage they could not see it either. Maybe it helped the captain take the necessary mental step backwards, and gain a perspective they had overlooked ?
