    Lourre is sometimes called Gigue Lente slow jig , it is named after the instrument of the same name, another example is Hornpipe which is a dance named after the instrument and of course Gigue comes from Geihga German word for fiddle or violin. The french influence in Baroque dance forms was a for runner of what we now know as Ballet. Certainly very different from folk dances Irish traditional music and Hoedown. Music in Bach s time was for elite. Adam Beanstock

    One often what a Lourre dance would look like? By the way it is played elusive like a ballet as pas de Bourree is actually a term for ballet dancers on their toes which is a more common french dance . Adam Beanstock
