first Time I seen any of these recreations and I am totally gob smacked , as the British say. I especially like the General's Car , What a beauty, also liked that they did not leave out the role of the WAC Nurses , as they also played such an Vital role in the war effort , If I recall correctly Carentan was a vital town to the Americans in the effort to Link UP the 2 American Beach Heads. GREAT STUFF ❤🤍❤🤠 from Canada 🍁 viv la France ❤

Thank you for remembering us...My great uncle was in the Red Ball Express during the war. He refused to speak about it which puzzled me as it was not a combat unit. I guess despite that he saw action even if only skirmishes and ambushes by stay behind enemies... anyway I think we paid back the debt for Lafayette, Rochambue and the French Atlantic Fleet....vive la France! And vive America!

It was not a debt, the allies are made to help each other and France will always remember the sacrifice of American, Canadian, British and other nations soldiers.
I am from Normandy, born in Rouen I still live 25km west of this city and the landing beaches are located 1h30 drive from my home.
You have to come and gather here to understand that the people of Normandy maintain a close relationship with the Americans, the recognition 76 years after the landing is still very present and we are trying to bring memories to life through these popular events.
Each year in Duclair, next to my home at Chateau du Taillis, a military camp is organized.

What a nostalgic and historic ‘travel through time’. It’s been 70 years in 2014 when the “greatest generation” came to liberate France, Europe in 1944 and the rest of the world in 1945 from fascism. Let it be a remembrance of their sacrifice and a reminder to the younger and future generations not to be complacent in defending the freedom and liberty they fought for.

Great little clip. Interesting though that as well as these re-enactors recreated the uniforms and vehicles you can still tell they are not Americans! Something about the cadence of the walk and the accents when calling out the cadence to the marching paratroopers. Americans have a swagger and lingo all their own!

The Americans were also fighting for 3 years before d day because it was 1944. The British and French got thier asses whooped up and down Europe from 1939-1940 until the Americans joined. France surrendered literally after one week

В 15 км от города кладбище с несколькими тысячами немцев, рекомендую побывать чтоб глупости не писал ты. Пушечным мясом для немцев были комуняцкие деды на восточном фронте.

They really shouldn't make reenactment clothes in plus sizes. They didn't exist in the '40s and they're just an embarrassment now.

I totally agree and we say it too, but it is difficult to exclude them from these events.
