Nice video! Serbia is one of the safest countries in Europe! There is no racism! It's perfectly normal for anyone to move around safely at any time of the day or night! Belgrade is much safer than Vienna, Paris, Berlin... Of course, the media don't want to write the real truth, because we don't want to join the EU! we have good relations with the EU, but also with China, Russia, Saudi Arabia

I was surprised how kind the people are in Belgrade and that everything went well eventhough there’s a language barrier and I can’t read their alphabet. 😁 I discovered and learned some things too.
People here don't care about race or nationality (and most speak English, at least understand). When I was abroad, I stayed in black neighbourhood, and people were staring at me like I'm insane to come there, but when you explain that you are from Serbia, things change a lot :)
I felt that when I was there. People I met were so kind. I just met one person who can speak english at the Korean store. The other people I met had a hard time to talk to me but everyone tried their best to help me and I always see a smile on their faces.

In high school you could choose second between French, German and Russian. My parents were like - you already know English (plus all the movies, we don't use synchronization, but titles), you will figure our Russian anyway and Germany is closer than France. Und so war es. Girls liked French way more. On faculties there is also a mandatory foreign language. To cut short, about everyone understands a foreigner of many languages, bar those who didn't finish schools properly :)

Im not sure that is the case. I've been there a few times and last time was about 6 years back and one had to buy a card and top it up with money. It may be that drivers cannot handle payments so what to do other than accept that some passengers will travel for free. Inspectors may fine people but what are they to do with foreigners on a short visit?

@@lovemarcia95no, a1 and E mini bus lines will remain with tickets, those are the only exceptions, since those lines are run by private companies, but under city control. All other regular city buses, trams, trolleys and city trains are free as of 1st of january 2025. You have 72 line that runs from the airport to the center, or 600, which is faster since it's going over the highway and end up at Belgrade's main railway station (just across the street from museum of Yugoslavia), but you can leave at Mostar stop and then switch to buses/trams toward the center. There is new railway extension being built to the airport, so in few years there should be city train line from the airport to the city.
I didn’t plan my trip so I didn’t have any idea of Belgrade before. It would be nice to go back on those months since other people on the comment section recommended it too.
Next time definitely visit Zemun neighborhod, it is on the other side of Sava river, it has nice old town, riverfront area with restaurants and Gardoš tower overlooking the city (you can climb to the top). Also definitely visit Novi Sad, it is a beautiful town, it is just 30 min ride by fast train from Belgrade, they run every 1h and you can buy the ticket over the app with card. By march/april 2025 200 km/h train line extension should open from Novi Sad to city of Subotica, it is north on the border with Hungary, it is also beautiful city, and by new train ride will be only 1h30 minutes. Best time to experience Serbia is probably may or september when temperatures are not extremely high like peak summer.

@@lovemarcia95 what train station, old one in the center was closed since 2018, near that big Stefan Nemanja monument you visited. New Belgrade railway station (Prokop, we call it) has two levels, so trains are not visible from the outside, they are one level below the train station building. You probably was passing by the station when you went to museum of Yugoslavia.

Po turistima vidimo da imaju neki strah i nelagodu kad slete u Srbiju. To se mora pod hitno promjeniti. Vise prisustva na sajmovima turizma i puno rada na promoviranju kulture, gastronomije, povjesti ...... jako je ruzno sto nemaju ni najmanji uvid sta bi bilo lijepo posjetiti . To sto je sve besplatno je pravi uzas za turizam u Srbiji. Turisticke zajednice trebaju imati svoj info point na raznim djelovima grada , depliani, mape,internet stranice u hotelima se na tv trebaju vrtiti slike iz cijele Srbije, turizam je ozbiljna grana ekonomije koju pod hitno treba razvijati.

Just to clarify things for you. The reason bus machine/reader did not work is because our mayor declared free bus, tram, trolleybus rides for the time being as a small toll of appreciation to his citizens. Credit cards do get tricky especially American Express ones but I dealt with same issues in Greece and Italy last year. Welcome back anytime!
I was in Serbia on the last week of November 2024. I was able to pay for some of the bus and there were 3 or 4 times that I didn't to pay because the machine is not working. Thank you. Would love to come back again.
Next time plan a longer stay and make sure to take your time to visit other beautiful cities in Serbia such as Novi Sad, Nis, Kraljevo, Smederevo, Vrnjacka Banja, Subotica and Kragujevac :)
I usually don't plan where to go or what to eat when I travel because I want to discover it myself but I love my experience in Serbia so now I know that the next time I will come I will plan where I will go and experience the food, culture, visit places and talk more with the locals. 25:50 public transport if FREE in Serbia, this is a reason why drivers tells u, u not need to pay. About credit card. All credit cards works in Serbia, i really do not know why your does not. Reason for no racism in Serbia is because we do not have to many immmigrants like wester european countries. In latest times we have it more and more, mostly from India, Nepal, Shri Lanka,Bangladeshand Kenya.Also arount 20 000 people from Turkey and China as a workers who will back home when they finish their work here, smaller number will stay, mostly delivery workers and truck and public transport drivers- Second reason is culture. For example, in Serbia, we have free to stay hotels. U can enter, take a room, sleep and go out. At the entrance in hotel, u will found big plastic or metal box, where u can put money if u want. It is your free will. Welcoming culture here is very strong. Also, about racism.Euurope is full of immigrants and racism there is stronger. You know. "They will tak our jobs, they are different then we are,... So, this is a reason for some racism in Europe. I suposse, i am not sure 100% in my words.
Thank you for sharing. I paid the A1, E9 & some of the payment machine in the bus works. My card works. It just stopped working while I was suppose to pay for the bus ticket and at the grocery on the same day. I found out that I used contactless payment a lot of times that’s why it stopped working so I just had to type my pin and it worked again. I had cash with me so the gentleman who offered to pay when I had a problem with my card didn’t have to pay for the groceries. I didn’t know about the hotel. Thank you for sharing these things. I live in Europe for 12 years now and luckily I haven’t experienced any racism. 🫶🏻

But, public transport is free now. Your visit to Serbia is probably mutch older then date of video upload, when public transport isnt free and costs 40 cents per 90 minuts.

I love doing everything spontaneously. I don't make plans anymore. I want to be surprised by the places I visit. I book flights, rooms and transportations by myself. Don't worry, the rainy and cold weather don't bother me. 😊 I still had a great time.

During the WW2, ustasha regime organized many extermination camps for non-Croats (mainly Serbs, Jews tortured and slaughtered in Croatian death camps like Jasenovac, Jadovno, Stara Gradiska, and many more) , And although Tito was a leader of partisans, he never even tried to attack or liberate any of the camps, since he closely cooperated with ustasha regime and against the Serbs. Thank you for sharing. I paid the A1, E9 & some of the payment machine in the bus works. My card works. It just stopped working while I was suppose to pay for the bus ticket and at the grocery on the same day. I found out that I used contactless payment a lot of times that’s why it stopped working so I just had to type my pin and it worked again. I had cash with me so the gentleman who offered to pay when I had a problem with my card didn’t have to pay for the groceries.

@@lovemarcia95 Public transport is free. Last price of public transport before it became free is 40 cents, 50 serbian dinars as a SMS mesage. U can use public transport 90 minuts for that money. But, public transport is free now. Your visit to Serbia is probably mutch older then date of video upload, when public transport isnt free and costs 40 cents per 90 minuts.

@@lovemarcia95 in that case, SMS ticket for public transport is 40 cents for 90 minutes of ride, u can use any bus tram and electric bus in 90 minuts. After that, u must pay new 40 cents for new 90 minuts. But. From 1.1.2025. public transport is free.
