  • Masvingo was the first urban settlement to be established by the settlers, making it Zimbabwe's oldest. It is the provincial capital of Masvingo province, and it has a population of 100 000.
It was formerly called Fort Victoria after the queen of England at the time, it was renamed Masvingo in 1982. Masvingo was declared a town on 1926 and gained city status in 2002. Masvingo is located 27km from the Great Zimbabwe, from which the name Masvingo was derived. Masvingo means "stone ruins" or a fortress of stone structures.
Let's take a tour of this beautiful city.

I think generally people do agree that Zim is beautiful but the management of the country is what makes people negative sometimes. It can be hard to separate the two when people are living in poverty. I have friends from other parts of Africa and they ask about migrating to Zim and I can see why because some countries are in bad shape with dust, dirt and crowds of people everywhere.

@@rachaelrae4532 It's refreshing to hear that some people would consider immigrating to Zim when the trend is emigration from Zim..shows at times we don't realise and value what we have..True, we need better leadership and management. Zvichaita chete.

What I can see here is that Zimbabweans care for their environment and know that it's the only one they have and must be taken care of. Down here in South Africa the majority care for nothing. They eat at an outdoor table and once finished all their garbage goes on the floor although a refuse bin is right there.
