Sickle bar part 3

Replacing guards and hold downs. This is a very time consuming process as there is a lot of fine tuning and hammering to get it in the right spot so the sickle bar can guide smoothly. I also have to cut and make a special end guard for the far left of the assembly. I hope it all comes together probably should have started on the right side and worked my way to the left instead of the other way.

Where do you order a new sickle bar

Do you know an easy way to replace a single broken guard without drawing back the sickle bar?

I unhook the pto shaft from the tractor and then use the pto shaft at a 90* for leverage and rotate the driveline. Then if you get the sections in between each guard you can then replace the guard without removing the knife.

Did you have to shim under your hold downs for clearance?

Dale McNalley I did have to place washers under hold downs at times. But never used more then two washers. Then I would shim down rather then shim up. Just depends on how much space I needed for clearance of sickle bar. Hopefully that helps. Let me know. Thanks for watching.
