I would definitely say: 1.Zigmara Liepiņa un Māras Zālītes fragments no rokoperas Lāčplēsis; 2.Piena ceļš 3.Saule, Pērkons, Daugava All three are great and i can't really choose between them...Oh and they should be from the 2018 ( XXVI ) song and dance festival ( Dziesmu un deju svētki ). But then again these videos on Latvia don't really seem to get that many views sooooooo...I would get you not reacting to these.

That song from Livi with the title "Mother's language" was recorded at 1987.probably, and that logo with V and rainbow was a music TV show at that time on central TV. Music videos at that time was something new- and those were filmed usually by the same TV which showed the shot. This was a really brave song at that Soviet occupation period...and made a big impact when there was referendum voting for official Language of Latvian SSR. So this was really big. By the way, singer for this song wasn't typical frontman and usually, he was performing a couple of songs in concerts. Moustache in 70-ties and 80-ties were popular.

i don't know much but in the second song (dzimtā valoda by līvi) in the scene with the fire thing and flowers around it, it is a national graveland monument, where around 2000 soldiers were burried, you can find more info by looking up "Rīgas brāļu kapi." the song itself is about how the mother of latvian people is their national language. essentially if we have nothing else left of our country, we still have our language. and the song serves as a kind of an reminder of that fact. i don't exactly consider myself patriotic anymore, haven't for several years now (haven't had much of a reason to do so, don't ask pls). but regardless of that i still agree with the songs sentiment as i do like my national language (i only really like our language and mythology).
Nice! & interesting and thank you for the video! I'm Estonian so it's interesting to hear Latvian music. I liked it a lot! "Riga Haute Couture" - didn't understand the words, but the rhythm or something made me listen... Livi "Dzimta valoda" was great, great voice! And the song "Maybe" - when it came I was like "this song, really? it can't be! oh, it IS this song, I love it!!" (for some readson I wasn't sure it was Latvian, but it is Latvian:)). I personally didn't like much the last song (rap is not my kind of music anyways, so...). Brian, perhaps you could do someday also Lithuanian music as well?:D I mean really. (and then the next country, and then the next...:D) I've been to Lithuania once and for some reason I kind of fell in love with Lithuanian language, although I don't understand it. Oh, "ačiū" (aachu) is "thank you", that much I know (just had to look how it was spelled). I remember a couple of times searching for Lithuanian music on the internet. I was born in Riga/Latvia and my Family still lives there! I only can speak some words😫 but I am trying my best by learning it at the moment! I have been in summer by a concert from Prāta Vetra, they’re music is great!! You should listen to more songs from them!😇

I guess one suggestion is: Latvia isn't really Latvia without the songs written by I.Kalninsh or R.Pauls, no matter who performs those. Check some of those and some good ''lions'' like Intars Busulis, Igo Fomins, Ainars Mielavs, Zigfrids Muktupavels...uff..toooooo many to name. (about Brainstorm comparison to the Maroon 5, you are right, however, Brainstorm appeared way before Maroon 5, so they should be compared the other way around ;-))

i don't know much but in the second song (dzimtā valoda by līvi) in the scene with the fire thing and flowers around it, it is a national graveland monument, where around 2000 soldiers were burried, you can find more info by looking up "Rīgas brāļu kapi."
the song itself is about how the mother of latvian people is their national language. essentially if we have nothing else left of our country, we still have our language. and the song serves as a kind of an reminder of that fact.
i don't exactly consider myself patriotic anymore, haven't for several years now (haven't had much of a reason to do so, don't ask pls). but regardless of that i still agree with the songs sentiment as i do like my national language (i only really like our language and mythology).

And the song "Maybe" - when it came I was like "this song, really? it can't be! oh, it IS this song, I love it!!" (for some readson I wasn't sure it was Latvian, but it is Latvian:)).
I personally didn't like much the last song (rap is not my kind of music anyways, so...).

I've been to Lithuania once and for some reason I kind of fell in love with Lithuanian language, although I don't understand it. Oh, "ačiū" (aachu) is "thank you", that much I know (just had to look how it was spelled). I remember a couple of times searching for Lithuanian music on the internet. But, yes, I understand it's only my persional fascination.

I guess one suggestion is: Latvia isn't really Latvia without the songs written by I.Kalninsh or R.Pauls, no matter who performs those. Check some of those and some good ''lions'' like Intars Busulis, Igo Fomins, Ainars Mielavs, Zigfrids Muktupavels...uff..toooooo many to name. (about Brainstorm comparison to the Maroon 5, you are right, however, Brainstorm appeared way before Maroon 5, so they should be compared the other way around ;-))
