Same here! I love the dub voices, although I started watching bleach when I was about 16/17 years old. It beats having to hear Kurosaki-kun all the time from orihime!
I watch anime roughly 50/50 in English and Japanese, and that's largely based on who was cast for it. I waited the entire time when the dub for Bleach went on hiatus for a year after episode 167. I'll do the same thing for TYBW. They absolutely crushed it. They did so well that I'd look for their names on other series, and case in point, I explicitly watched Durarara because of who was in it.
The genuine investment and respect Tara has for this show and these performers along with Greg coming in to derail things in a fun way made for a really great interview. Loved it!
It's BLEACH that made me appreciate platonic relationships. I love the whole idea of a man and woman being no more than friends. So when Rockstar introduced Arthur and Sadie to us, I was happy that they've kept them as just friends. Not everything has to be romance or end in a romantic relationship. I do ship both IchiHime and IchiRuki but I'm more grateful that platonic relationships are getting more recognition.
Same, I had a similar relationship like Ichigo and Rukia,but we didn't date nor had feelings for each other( he liked other people and he's bi). Then, I shipped Ichigo and Orihime together the way they are knight x princess and sunshine gir and grumpy boy. They have also a thrope of the couple whose the partner doesn't had family peers and lost their family members to them having a new "step family" and be happy. I started to ship a OT3,Ichigo, Orihime and Uryu along side with Masaki,Isshin and Ryuken. I ship lowkey OT4,Renji,Rukia,Orihime and Ichigo ( lowkey to solves wars and discourses) I have both platonic and romantic ships in bleach such Rangiku and Toshiro (Platonic),Gin and Rangiku (romantic), Yoruichi and Urahara ( romantic), Shinji and Momo(platonic), Byakuga and Hisana( romantic), Kaien and Miyako( Romantic), Ryuken and Kataigiri(romantic), Shuuei and Rangiku (platonic), Toshiro and Momo( platonic ), Toshiro and Karin( Semi-platonic beaucause its filler but some ship them romantically) Yoruichi and Soi-fon (Semi-romatic, but implied that Soifon might have a girlcrush on Yoruichi and people ship the romantically),etc. Some people MIGHT ship these romantically except few that contains pedophilia and age gap and it's fine,ship whomever and enjoy.
Been a fan of Johnny’s for years, and was always surprised when he said he related to characters like Ichigo and Nero from Devil May Cry due to them being punk kids. Dude is so chill and polite, it was hard to imagine. But this is the first time I heard the dude give a little more insight into his past as a kid when it comes to his self title “punk kid” phase, and it makes more sense now. It makes me respect him even more knowing that he was had that phase and was able to better himself; on top of making me respect and appreciate his portrayal of those characters MORE, knowing it came from such an organic place in his life. He’s one of the greats, and I hope he continues to succeed. It’s understandable, completely, why he had to stop himself from going further into it; but I thank this show for making me respect and actor, that I already respected a ton, even more.

Such a good interview. I appreciate how Tara listens and allows each interviewee to speak in length about topics without interruption and shows genuine interest in what each of her guests has to say. I also think that when she does interject it only adds more insight or helps to expand the conversation. Greg adds a lot of contagious laughter and smiles, it's nice to see someone spread that kind of joy amongst others. I love all of these actors and appreciate this style of interview with new questions I haven't heard the answers to before.

Tara Strong is probably the most iconic voice actor in animated history. It's insane how much talent she has, and how many things she has contributed to. Some of my favorites will always be Rikku, Raven, Timmy, Ben 10 and of course Batgirl! :)
This is amazing!!! So Happy that Tara and Greg are doing anime too! A really good recommendation would be an anime called Fushigi Yugi. Tara - Daran Norris and David Hayter were both in that anime as lead roles! Anime legends like - Wendee Lee, Bridgett Hoffman and Kirk Thornton are in there too!

Good episode all around guys :) as a fan of Bleach (favorite show) I liked getting into the acting aspect & learning more bout that creative process. I kinda vaguely recall the graffiti story Steph mentioned. I think they were referencing the first Opening cause thats where we see the cast graffiti a wall & the camera. It mightve been for the first Bleach movie which had Troy Baker as the villain and GK Bowes as Senna. On LGBT characters, there was one explicitly lesbian character named Chizuru (a very 2000s interpretation of a gay character somewhat okay for that time but offensive to lesbians). Altho there was a lot of stereotyping with her cause she liked Stephanie Sheh’s character Orihime. But I and a lot of fans would argue that a good amount of characters were LGBT either subtextually or pretty openly just unstated. Like later Soul Reaper characters and Arrancar. Also a good amount of fans think Orihime’s best friend Tatsuki (played by Wendee Lee) was gay. But its never explicitly stated in the show. On Tite Kubo, a lot of the time his prerogative with making the series was the simple fact that he wanted to draw cool stuff. He had a good eye for art and especially fashion. Look at any chapter’s cover art or bonus art and he always drew characters very fashionably in street wear. But he also brought that same mindset to physical appearances of characters. Bleach is set in Japan and has characters from other dimensions but racially he portrays people very diversely. For a long time Bleach had the most black characters in a main series. So people vary in how they physically looked and had cultural influences from different real world peoples. There was even a character Kubo drew with clearly Hispanic features and, despite the character being a Japanese student, made explicitly Mexican (half Mexican half Japanese but still, pretty cool). Oh and on shipping! I sitll always liked Ichigo & Rukia as a couple but as a fan I really enjoy them in the show as a duo. Like Holmes and Watson. Theyre two characters that just compliment one another and make each othere better. The anime definitely had a hand in strengthening their dynamic & definitely making it more romantic feeling. The show just is these two yknow? But Bleach is that one show where you had Orihime and a wholesome dynamic between the three characters. Differently from other anime, you had Rukia support Orihime as a friend & had Orihime adress her own jealousy of Rukia’s closeness with Ichigo. Even though Rukia wasnt interested in Ichigo that way I always liked that the series tackled jealousy and that pain when its with people youre close to. Lol also Im just amused at Greg. Bleach seems like a show up his alley. Also his register as an actor naturally sounds like Johnny as Ichigo. I dont doubt he couldve voiced a character on the show had circumstances aligned. Sorry for talking too much, I could probably talk all day about Bleach :)

@@lolsnez7542 yes she was but again, it was never portrayed as negative or as Orihime being catty. It was in the early Arrancar saga (just after the Soul Reapers came to the world of the living). When Orihime tried cheering up Ichigo - he got into a depression after being unable to protect her from Ulquiorra and Yammy - she couldnt and he remained sad. Who got him out of his funk? Rukia did. Rukia even grabbed Ichigo and took him to go fight a Hollow and openly talked to him about why he was depressed. She empathized with Ichigo but also wanted him to man up (not in a toxic sense but a general buck up, its gonna be okay sense). Then Rukia took Ichigo to immediately apologize to Orihime for how hed been acting lately and Ichigo made a vow to be better for Orihime (again, a great romantic moment where Rukia is clearly team supporting Ichigo and Orihime. No ship on ship conflict, just empathy). Of course, this led Orihime to really notice her own feelings of jealousy towards Rukia and how Rukia and Ichigo had their own close relationship. They werent romantic at all but Orihime still felt jealous that it was Rukia who could help Ichigo, Rukia who understood what Ichigo’s pain was, his emotions better than anyone. Cue Megan Hollingshead as Rangiku coming to visit Orihime. Bleach fans tend to think of Rangiku as just a fanservice character (I mean, theyre not wrong, shes like anime Jessica Rabbit as a Grim Reaper) but she was also a pretty empathetic character herself. And Rangiku was someone who sort of became like a big sister character to Orihime at that point. She saw how Orihime was in a depression and kind of turmoil over what she was feeling. Because Orihime was jealous and that led to feelings of self loathing and shame. Because she cared a lot for Ichigo and she also cared a lot for Rukia. They were two of her closest friends, they had her back, they supported her. So Orihime was at that point of thinking she was totally bad for feeling what she felt. Rangiku and later Rukia would however not think any less of Orihime for how she felt but empathized and embraced her. Rukia at the end of the day didnt love Ichigo in a romantic light. Sure they were close but their bond was that of two good friends that worked well together. She also saw how Orihime liked Ichigo and wanted to support Orihime along in that relationship. Rukia even gave Orihime a peptalk encouraging her in her feelings to pursue Ichigo and not feel ashamed for feelings in general she couldnt help even if it was jealousy. Plus Rukia (and Rangiku) both helped Orihime see that she was genuinely a good human being - being a caring kind soul who always helped her friends and do justice - and that her emotions didnt erase from that. That was what Orihime needed to hear and it did help Orihime in the long run be okay with who she was as a person and her place as Ichigo’s companion. Tldr: yes Orihime was jealous but it wasnt a bad thing like other shows make it out to be. Rukia and Orihime were wholesome friends and Rukia shipped Orihime with Ichigo and thats not bad either.

I honestly dont see them together. Rukia is too gothic of a personality, and Ichigo is too carefree. I dont think they are a match, doesnt seem to fit well together outside good friends. But Rukia is cool though
I've watched most of the series and I always thought that the two would be great together. With Ohrihime, I saw that connection too but I honestly didn't think it would develop (I was younger) but at the end of the manga it did take me by surprised who they ended up with. But was satisfied how it turned out. BUUUUUT!!!! I will always secretly (not really) ship Ichigo amd Rukia.

I really do think they will dub the new Bleach seasons. It was really popular in the west, even more than it was in Japan.
Even in Japan the dvd sales were pretty high and these records were years after the series finished.

Good episode all around guys :) as a fan of Bleach (favorite show) I liked getting into the acting aspect & learning more bout that creative process. I kinda vaguely recall the graffiti story Steph mentioned. I think they were referencing the first Opening cause thats where we see the cast graffiti a wall & the camera. It mightve been for the first Bleach movie which had Troy Baker as the villain and GK Bowes as Senna.
On LGBT characters, there was one explicitly lesbian character named Chizuru (a very 2000s interpretation of a gay character somewhat okay for that time but offensive to lesbians). Altho there was a lot of stereotyping with her cause she liked Stephanie Sheh’s character Orihime. But I and a lot of fans would argue that a good amount of characters were LGBT either subtextually or pretty openly just unstated. Like later Soul Reaper characters and Arrancar. Also a good amount of fans think Orihime’s best friend Tatsuki (played by Wendee Lee) was gay. But its never explicitly stated in the show.
On Tite Kubo, a lot of the time his prerogative with making the series was the simple fact that he wanted to draw cool stuff. He had a good eye for art and especially fashion. Look at any chapter’s cover art or bonus art and he always drew characters very fashionably in street wear. But he also brought that same mindset to physical appearances of characters. Bleach is set in Japan and has characters from other dimensions but racially he portrays people very diversely. For a long time Bleach had the most black characters in a main series. So people vary in how they physically looked and had cultural influences from different real world peoples. There was even a character Kubo drew with clearly Hispanic features and, despite the character being a Japanese student, made explicitly Mexican (half Mexican half Japanese but still, pretty cool).
Oh and on shipping! I sitll always liked Ichigo & Rukia as a couple but as a fan I really enjoy them in the show as a duo. Like Holmes and Watson. Theyre two characters that just compliment one another and make each othere better. The anime definitely had a hand in strengthening their dynamic & definitely making it more romantic feeling. The show just is these two yknow? But Bleach is that one show where you had Orihime and a wholesome dynamic between the three characters. Differently from other anime, you had Rukia support Orihime as a friend & had Orihime adress her own jealousy of Rukia’s closeness with Ichigo. Even though Rukia wasnt interested in Ichigo that way I always liked that the series tackled jealousy and that pain when its with people youre close to.
Lol also Im just amused at Greg. Bleach seems like a show up his alley. Also his register as an actor naturally sounds like Johnny as Ichigo. I dont doubt he couldve voiced a character on the show had circumstances aligned. Sorry for talking too much, I could probably talk all day about Bleach :)

@@lolsnez7542 yes she was but again, it was never portrayed as negative or as Orihime being catty. It was in the early Arrancar saga (just after the Soul Reapers came to the world of the living). When Orihime tried cheering up Ichigo - he got into a depression after being unable to protect her from Ulquiorra and Yammy - she couldnt and he remained sad. Who got him out of his funk? Rukia did.
Rukia even grabbed Ichigo and took him to go fight a Hollow and openly talked to him about why he was depressed. She empathized with Ichigo but also wanted him to man up (not in a toxic sense but a general buck up, its gonna be okay sense). Then Rukia took Ichigo to immediately apologize to Orihime for how hed been acting lately and Ichigo made a vow to be better for Orihime (again, a great romantic moment where Rukia is clearly team supporting Ichigo and Orihime. No ship on ship conflict, just empathy).
Of course, this led Orihime to really notice her own feelings of jealousy towards Rukia and how Rukia and Ichigo had their own close relationship. They werent romantic at all but Orihime still felt jealous that it was Rukia who could help Ichigo, Rukia who understood what Ichigo’s pain was, his emotions better than anyone.
Cue Megan Hollingshead as Rangiku coming to visit Orihime. Bleach fans tend to think of Rangiku as just a fanservice character (I mean, theyre not wrong, shes like anime Jessica Rabbit as a Grim Reaper) but she was also a pretty empathetic character herself. And Rangiku was someone who sort of became like a big sister character to Orihime at that point. She saw how Orihime was in a depression and kind of turmoil over what she was feeling. Because Orihime was jealous and that led to feelings of self loathing and shame. Because she cared a lot for Ichigo and she also cared a lot for Rukia. They were two of her closest friends, they had her back, they supported her. So Orihime was at that point of thinking she was totally bad for feeling what she felt. Rangiku and later Rukia would however not think any less of Orihime for how she felt but empathized and embraced her.
Rukia at the end of the day didnt love Ichigo in a romantic light. Sure they were close but their bond was that of two good friends that worked well together. She also saw how Orihime liked Ichigo and wanted to support Orihime along in that relationship. Rukia even gave Orihime a peptalk encouraging her in her feelings to pursue Ichigo and not feel ashamed for feelings in general she couldnt help even if it was jealousy. Plus Rukia (and Rangiku) both helped Orihime see that she was genuinely a good human being - being a caring kind soul who always helped her friends and do justice - and that her emotions didnt erase from that. That was what Orihime needed to hear and it did help Orihime in the long run be okay with who she was as a person and her place as Ichigo’s companion.
Tldr: yes Orihime was jealous but it wasnt a bad thing like other shows make it out to be. Rukia and Orihime were wholesome friends and Rukia shipped Orihime with Ichigo and thats not bad either.

Is people who hate her because of human emotions that make me mad. And also she took those feelings like a sane person would

I honestly dont see them together. Rukia is too gothic of a personality, and Ichigo is too carefree. I dont think they are a match, doesnt seem to fit well together outside good friends. But Rukia is cool though

I've watched most of the series and I always thought that the two would be great together. With Ohrihime, I saw that connection too but I honestly didn't think it would develop (I was younger) but at the end of the manga it did take me by surprised who they ended up with. But was satisfied how it turned out. BUUUUUT!!!! I will always secretly (not really) ship Ichigo amd Rukia.
