Thanks for this review. I recently bought one of these and assumed that it would come with instructions on how to use all the various straps and strings which can be confusing if you've never used one before. Not a thing! I like the vest but I learned far more from this video than anything the company itself puts out. :)
@@UltraTrailSteven sadly they are sold out of LG currently. Im on the waitlist for the mountain vest as I really dont want to "settle" for he Ultra 5.0 vest with less pockets and features. Hopefully they restock with the sale. Ive seen deep sales repeated with them before.
Thanks for your nice review. I just bought a Race Vest, which is very similar to the one in your review. Your review helped me learn how to use the one I bought.
Have you used the Mountain Vest 6.0? What are your thoughts about the 6.0 vs. 5.0? What are your thoughts about the Mountain vest vs. the Ultra Vest? Thanks for your input.
I never have either. I don’t run too far which is probably why, but this looks like a really efficient way to pack for a day long hike or something so I have enough water and a place for everything!
Great review! I was torn between the UD mountain vest and adventure vest. I'd settled on the mountain vest, as the 2 bottles up front seemed perfect. Then as I was about to order, I watched 1 more review and she mentioned there was no convenient pocket for a phone on the previous model. Running alone in the woods, occasionally at night, having my phone up front is crucial. I got the last version of the adventure vest on clearance for $60, and it's so darn comfy I wear it for any run over an hour just to have my 'stuff' with me. Now I need to grab a smaller flask to fit in the burrito pocket with my phone, to last over 2 hours.
Great Review. I am still using the OG Anton Mountain Vest 3.0 and I love it but it is in rough shape. I hope to upgrade to the 5.0 this year and finally retire mine.
Steven - thanks for a great review. Time to retire the UD Mountain Vest 4.0 to the UltraTrailSteven museum of ultra gear lol! Appreciate you showing the comparison between the versions. The sliding rail for the sternum straps is an outstanding feature. I run with the Nathan VaporAir 7L vest (lighter version of the VaporKrar designed by Rob Krar). I have 2 UD hydration belts that are awesome.
I just had this same question yesterday I think. I will copy my answer for you here: I did consider it. The reason I chose the Mountain Vest is the pocket configuration. I really like the two flask design with the two "Gel" pockets on each flask pocket of the Mountain Vest. The Adventure Vest has one flask pocket and what people call the "burrito" pocket. I personally do not like that combo. I have used the Mountain Vest for some really long self supported runs where I was carrying a lot! It holds quite a bit!
I have the Ultra Belt 5.0 which I've been using for my longer runs and have been super happy with the quality, breathability, and comfort. I was debating between the Ultra 5.0 and Mountain 5.0 vest for trail runs and this review really helped me out in deciding to go with the Mountain 5.0. Thank you!
I cannot say for certain since I haven't tested, but the pocket seems to be the same dimensions as the 4.0. The little elastic loops from the 4.0 that I used to clip the carabiner to are not there any more on the 5.0.
Great video. Is the vest breathable? Also is it machine washable? I currently use a minimal style Nathan vest but I want to upgrade to something with a few more pockets and hydration options. Thanks, Sage
Thank you! Yes it is fairly breathable, and it dries fairly quickly too. Yes, I wash mine in the washing machine. I put mine in a large garment bag so the straps and cords don't get caught on anything, and then I hang dry it.
Great review - I think I have decided on this vest ,it seems to fit you perfectly, may I ask what size you went for ? I am 5ft 10 and 158lbs so thinking a Medium. Thank you

Just getting to this review now as there is a major sale! Thank you for the informative endorsement!
Yeah the 40% sale is huge! Well worth that price!

@@richardalbanese4869 that’s the same reason I didn’t go with the Ultra vest. I wanted the additional 2 pockets on the bottle pockets

I have not tried the Mountain Vest 6.0 or Ultra Vest yet. They both look pretty similar, but the Mountain Vest has a little more capacity.
Wow, I've never run in a vest -- but I'd like to try this one out. I'll have to try one on next time I'm at a running store. Great review!

Could double as a road guard vest too!!!

I’m going to need this in pink please.
You could only wear it on Wednesday’s then.
Great one! 💯

Great review. Good work! Running is principality. Love it. Much Luv Fr Mannys Fitness Program.

Did you buy the medium or small? I’m right there in between sizes on the UD size chart. Thanks!

My favorite is this vest!
