I have no problem with a expressing his strong displeasure with his team and staff in the privacy of the locker room. Publicly reprimanding the players and coaches, while taking no responsibility does not exemplify leadership. If the players aren’t performing, don’t renew their scholarship! This team has one Freshman, meaning several players had their scholarships renewed. Ultimately, the coach cannot force individual players to work hard, but he/she can remove them from the team. He needs to learn about Trickle Down Behavior economics-he and his coaches are responsible for the culture.

Look at Dan Campbell. Wanna know why his guys will run through walls for him? It’s because genuinely cares about them as people first. And would never belittle anyone in his organization. Do you want all your guys to do the right thing even when you aren’t looking? Show them that you care about them and take blame for them because that is your job. The head coach is responsible for that entire team win or lose. If you aren’t willing to accept responsibility for a loss as the leader of that organization, then you don’t deserve to be the leader of that organization.

I like Mick. He'll say things that are interesting and provide more insight on the basketball landscape than most other coaches. He's also obviously maniacally obsessed with winning (what UCLA MBB fan wouldn't want that). That said, agree that he should have kept the post-Michigan comments in the locker room. See Augie Garrido legendary locker-room rant - guy loses his S on the team but at the end lets them know that he failed them. There's also an interview clip where he (A.G.) admits that he can turn into a little boy that blames everyone when they lose. This is a good team but will have trouble against skilled 'bigs', especially if they (Bruins) don't shoot well from 3 (as MC likes to say, "it is what it is"). This team needs to remember it took down Oregon and Gonzaga and can play great ball. I see Eric Dailey Jr emerging as the leader they need and getting them going. Go Bruins.

If you could only hear what these coaches say behind closed doors, what he said was pretty tasteful in a respectful way I’ve seen some of the attitudes of these coaches and these coaches are just as nasty as you and me, but to elegantly put it like he did Was pretty straightforward and respectful.
When you have a kid that plays at this level, you will understand participation trophies are not good . When you want your kid to make it to the next level and you want your team to make it to the next level, pulling punches and boosting egos will not cut it.

The NIL has changed the game no longer will a prestige school with a great program cut it better throw some bread on top of it. These schools are able to find boosters that can do that. I can’t wait for next year cause it’s gonna get even worse if they don’t change things up UCLA no longer has the cream of the crop players. That coach does have a chance to make them the best and that’s what he’s doing. He’s letting them know and the world know so they have an option to think about it. Not to mention kids today think they are so much better than they are because they can shoot a 3 from 30 feet. Yet their basketball iq is as low as it’s ever been. They lack fundamentals and skills. They feel entitled before even playing a game in college and then transfer from school to school every year just like the pro’s. Sign a long term deal yet demand trades and pout after two years
