Well, for trees in development (younger) I repot more often also because I usually slowly move to smaller pots. For older trees that have slowed down a bit, I repot less often.
Can boxwoods be hard pruning? I have one with a fairly thick trunk that I rescued from a dumpster but it has many errors in the branch structure so I wonder if I can start from zero if I cut them all, can it back bud from the trunk?
Hm I havent tried a complete cut, but I did cut back significantly, say reducing to 20% of the foliage. Perhaps ask on our forum for more experiences at www.bonsaiempire.com/forum
