    another nice tool is to use your wacky jig o-ring tool, works like a charm, never broke off the rubber skirt o-ring, just ad a little bit of Vaseline to the o-ring tool and it comes right on and off

    I really love the Boss products. Very high quality, cost-effective and you get that custom look that you mentioned. The bulk of the jigs and buzzbaits I throw were put together with their products at home. That Boss finesse flip head, with its short, beefy hook, is an absolute killer for bed fishing.

    Love the colors. I got a guy who custom does mine. Sweet muddy water color I use is a mix between junebug and PB&J. Everyone throws a black and blue, so it's nice to mix it up and give them something new.

    Mikey, have you ever thought of mixing in some round-live rubber strands with the standard flat skirt material? I tried it with a couple skirts I made for some finesse jigs and it looks like nothing I have ever seen in the water

    Great vid brother and thanks for them all.Along the lines of a couple other comments I been making my own skirts for years and another great addition is the krinkle cut/textured skirts they also help with that more natural look.

    Mikey!!!!! You HAVE TO make a South African Special jig for dirty water. I live in Arkansas and I fish mud holes A-LOT! It's a killer color for dirty water. If you dont know what color I'm talking about look it up. Alot of silver/gold stands are the deal. I've been playing with it for years now. If you make some good ones I'll strait up buy them from you brotha! Love your vids!

    I know this is an older vid but hopefully you get this. You can quickly fix the strands sticking together by either pulling the tab taught when you cut them or you can just pull or pop the skirts after you cut it. I might have missed it but I didn't see anyone mention that in the comments. Great colors selection though. I have to get some of those orange and brown tabs.

    Heck ya on any skirt that I'll skip jig chatterbait or buzz bait I tie a 4 turn uni knot with old flouro 20lb works great.. no sliding down and if the collar rots off or breaks my skirt is still good to go

    The new ehler jigs from boss are dope! Just ordered a bunch, wish I had picked up one of those skirt machines when I had a chance. Problem with the ones I use, ive been experementing with the new living rubber skirts they just came out with amd the "pen" style skirt tool has a tendency to bunch the skirt up when pulling it through the pen and the skirt ends up being wicked uneven. Awesome content!

    Where do you get the cool skirt tool? I got the skirts unlimited tube and it works good. Does this wheel type also use boss o rings? I been getting to make my own color skirts, and bladed arkie heads w a weedguard. I feel that the boss heads are good enough for most jig situations. I buy select models.now for there needs.And boss heads for the rest. I now use the Gary Klein hvy cover jig,the sparkie,head w vertical.tie for making bladed jigs,the 7/16 ballhead,and the 1/2 oz dock knockers.i own lots of football head jigs,so when I lose those I'll buy some to make as well. Cool getting bit on your own creative colors! Go MBRF 🎣.

    thoughts on hand tied vs collar? i know too many people that are all about the wire ties, that they last longer than the rubber collars. i dont know about you, but i lose them before that rubber wears enough to break 😂

    • @TheEastBayAnglers
      @TheEastBayAnglers 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tied many with nylon and some with GSP thread. Also have used collars, and ultra wire. Yes hand tied last longer.

    Huh...... If you look at a pipe threading handle, that is basically a plastic version of the centering device on one of those pipe threaders. I wonder if you can glean one off of one of those tools....

  • @TheEastBayAnglers
    @TheEastBayAnglers 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    IMHO this is the difference between most fisherman, they only use what they buy when they can make better products for less money. This is really funny, all the years you been fishing and you just started making your own skirts, i have been doing this for years and yes there are many tools all work well, I even did a video on this a few years ago, showing ppl how easy it was to create your own look. I Made about 800-1000 jigs/spinnerbaits/chatterbaits in the last 2 yrs. It's so funny how ppl want to spend all this money on baits that are simple to make.
