"Three thousand years ago Ahmanet, princess of Egypt, due to inherit the power of the Pharaoh, discovered that power is not given, it must be taken." - The Mummy, 2017. Rather mediocre movie (mainly due to Cruise's participation), but this is a strong line which I think fits nicely to this powerful mix!
Several issues with the line 1) princess 2) it must be taken -> I get she became supernatural. But its just not in the nature of women to "take" power. "steal" is far more appropriate, and sets up something far more intriguing.

The people were looking for the next warrior who will demonstrate his skills and power. Whispering was heared in the rows. The man on the forum hit a big gong and the crowd went silent. "Our next guest, is a famous warrior. He is known for his brutality, precicion and speed. He is a feared man, even by foreign kings. He once killed a whole army of our enemys in one night. Alone. Hundrets of knights found their dead. Please welcome, the knight of the shadow, the conqueror of the evil, the assassin... Prince Dorian." He stepped in the light. The sun was blinding him and he looked around. He saw shocked faces that couldn´t belive that their prince was the anonymous knight they heard so many legends about. "Stand up for your majesty, your future king, the prince!" The people stood up and started calling his name. He made another step into the arena. Dust whirled up. This is that moment when you finally get to write a historical fiction story for your class project where the only limit is that it's during the time of the roman empire.
The gods blinded themselves as the highest, most powerful beings to walk the skys... believing that they hold authority on what shall be of every man and civilization. The more they graced their followers with riches and power, the more egotistical and narcissistic they became. So much so they refused to pay attention to the very people they believed loved them unconditionally. They never saw the men taking these riches and this power, and slowly saving it up. One day, the gods woke to no prayers, love, nothing. When they looked down, they saw men steeling themselves with the very rewards they had been gifted, prepared to strike the gods down. The gods retaliated full force, whether it be by blade, hammer or pure power over the elements. They tried to flatten the world of these traitors to show their unwavering dominance. They were fatally mistaken. The men had the very arms of gods, the ones gifted to them, generation after generation. The gods had no chance, for they only then realized they had practically handed over their control of this world over to the followers. And these scorned followers were furious. Tired with the gods self centered nature, and unending sacrifice, they struck them down, one by one. And they didn't start small, as the first confirmed slaying was of the very son of the king of gods, the next to rule the skys. With every fallen god, they grew stronger then any of them could've believed was possible for mortals. And yet, one stood atop them all. He was named Hercules, as if to mock the tales of ancient times, to display that mortals were no slave to these fake rulers. Hercules, the Godslayer. To call it war would be an insult to those who fought in the many battles of past against their fellow man. This was an massacre against the hierarchy, an uprooting of the old. One last remained, the king of gods. He stood not on his throne, nor any remnant of his world. He chose his finale to be in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but the sea and sky in sight on all sides. He didn't have a last stand, he merely resisted his injurys and ultimately, his fate, till he simply kicked one last time. Their was no immediate fanfare, no parades or celebrations. The world stood still in the final moments of this seemingly unending fight against their dictatorship. Some cheered, some cried in joy, others were in disbelief, still not sure what to make of it all. A massacre against the almighty, and all things holy... and it ends with a feeble whimper. Humans are now free to make this world their sanctuary, a paradise of epic proportions. They were their gods now. But one day, inevitably, Hercules will declare themselves the ruler of them all, and only the strongest shall join him. And then, the hierarchy shall be reinstated once again, to begin the cycle of divine influence all over again. As all things are, their will never be freedom forever. Only one thing will remain the same every time... There will be those who disrupt, and take control. The GODSLAYERS.

Sweat was running down his forehead. His warm breath made loud metallic noises underneat his visor. He stood at the entrence of the arena in the shadow of the massive walls. The people were looking for the next warrior who will demonstrate his skills and power. Whispering was heared in the rows. The man on the forum hit a big gong and the crowd went silent. "Our next guest, is a famous warrior. He is known for his brutality, precicion and speed. He is a feared man, even by foreign kings. He once killed a whole army of our enemys in one night. Alone. Hundrets of knights found their dead. Please welcome, the knight of the shadow, the conqueror of the evil, the assassin... Prince Dorian." He stepped in the light. The sun was blinding him and he looked around. He saw shocked faces that couldn´t belive that their prince was the anonymous knight they heard so many legends about. "Stand up for your majesty, your future king, the prince!" The people stood up and started calling his name. He made another step into the arena. Dust whirled up. The croud cheered for him and started shouting his name: "Long live prince Dorian! Long live prince Dorian!" He arrived in the middle and twisted himself one time to look into the eyes of his loyal people. A smile appeared on his face. In his ears he heard the never ending shouting of the crowd. He pulled his heavy sword out of his scabbard and looked at the man on the empore. He gave him a light nod. "And now please open the doors for his opponent. The strong and powerful..." The prince didn´t listen. He saw the hopeful faces on him. And he knew he would win. The metallic doors opened and a big black shadow walked in his direction. His smile grew even bigger when he saw who it was and the prince made himself ready to attack. After so many years they finally met again and he could revenge himself for the scars on his back, the months of torture and pain he got when he was younger.ˋI am stronger now. I will pay you back. Every.single.scar.you.did.to.me.ˋ The man was shocked when he saw that his oponent was the prince. He couldn´t belive he had to fight against one of his previous victims. "Please get ready! Good luck my prince. And... START!" He looked his opponent in the eyes. He could smell his fear, but no regret or shame for the things he did. The prince took a deep breath and started running...

I have listened many hundreds of "epic osts" but i can say this one really has what it says..
The gods blinded themselves as the highest, most powerful beings to walk the skys... believing that they hold authority on what shall be of every man and civilization.
The more they graced their followers with riches and power, the more egotistical and narcissistic they became. So much so they refused to pay attention to the very people they believed loved them unconditionally. They never saw the men taking these riches and this power, and slowly saving it up.
One day, the gods woke to no prayers, love, nothing. When they looked down, they saw men steeling themselves with the very rewards they had been gifted, prepared to strike the gods down.
The gods retaliated full force, whether it be by blade, hammer or pure power over the elements. They tried to flatten the world of these traitors to show their unwavering dominance.
They were fatally mistaken.
The men had the very arms of gods, the ones gifted to them, generation after generation. The gods had no chance, for they only then realized they had practically handed over their control of this world over to the followers. And these scorned followers were furious.
Tired with the gods self centered nature, and unending sacrifice, they struck them down, one by one. And they didn't start small, as the first confirmed slaying was of the very son of the king of gods, the next to rule the skys.
With every fallen god, they grew stronger then any of them could've believed was possible for mortals. And yet, one stood atop them all.
He was named Hercules, as if to mock the tales of ancient times, to display that mortals were no slave to these fake rulers.
Hercules, the Godslayer.
To call it war would be an insult to those who fought in the many battles of past against their fellow man. This was an massacre against the hierarchy, an uprooting of the old.
One last remained, the king of gods.
He stood not on his throne, nor any remnant of his world. He chose his finale to be in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but the sea and sky in sight on all sides. He didn't have a last stand, he merely resisted his injurys and ultimately, his fate, till he simply kicked one last time.
Their was no immediate fanfare, no parades or celebrations. The world stood still in the final moments of this seemingly unending fight against their dictatorship.
Some cheered, some cried in joy, others were in disbelief, still not sure what to make of it all.
A massacre against the almighty, and all things holy... and it ends with a feeble whimper.
Humans are now free to make this world their sanctuary, a paradise of epic proportions. They were their gods now.
But one day, inevitably, Hercules will declare themselves the ruler of them all, and only the strongest shall join him. And then, the hierarchy shall be reinstated once again, to begin the cycle of divine influence all over again. As all things are, their will never be freedom forever.
Only one thing will remain the same every time...
There will be those who disrupt, and take control.
The GODSLAYERS.
