Love how natural the string sustain sounds which is why Pacific has become my main strings library. It sounds like a real string section.. And the liveliness in its sustains are incredible. Yes, it may not be able to do everything, but what it does will cover most of the basic needs and it does it like no other competition in the market. The sustains sound so beautiful and alive and when compared to the likes of other libraries like the Abbey Road Orchestra V1 you can clearly see how dead the strings of th ARO sound... The legatos are amazing in ARO but after that, the sustains sound so dead..

The brass is mostly 8Dio Century Ensemble Brass with some CineBrass Pro. Woodwinds are Hollywoodwinds and Berlin Woods, Percussion is a mixture of stuff inc. 8Dio Majestica, ProjectSam and Abbey Road One. Harp is Performance Samples Pacific Harp.

This is stunning. The music itself is great but getting the programming to sound convincing surely took work.
Lovely composition! Great use of Pacific and I *think* (being familiar with it) I can hear where the Cinesamples stuff was used. The 8Dio bits kinda stick out, but I think that's more of a "them" thing than a "you" thing.

I was wondering how you achieve the scrolling piano roll with transparent background?
@background; Record DAW screenflow and change its opacity when layering in your video editor. Make sure your DAW background is set to black on all elements, except midi events.

Beautiful rich and taking composition David, so colourful and filmic! Curious about the legato options in this string library, does it have slurred also, could use some on the 1:08 descending line?
Thanks Jeff. No slurred legatos per se with this library but plenty of variation with the attacks/portamentos. Spitfire Appassionata has some nice slurred legatos though. Not sure how well those libraries will mix. Another experiment for another day.
@@DavidTregoning Ha great, and still a bit strange one can not change ads(r) details within the spitfire bbcso gui.
Challenge to mix those string libraries and create your own vibe, tweaking with mic balances. I'm working on a string mockup using Appassionata for warmth/thickness, and BBCSO Pro strings for detail.

The default and only legato transition is slurred legato. It's rather over the top, nearly achieving a portamento type of effect. :)

I am so damn torn about whether I should get this. As a hobbyist I own an insane amount of string libraries, but this sounds great...
If you’re gonna get it, I’d get it now, the loyalty offer ends tomorrow (March 30). I still use CSS quite a lot, I’m slowly figuring out how to blend them together better.

I checked the demo page of the library in Pacific website, but this track was not on the list.
Hey David, how did you get Century Brass to sound so regal? Did you use the default mic mixes or crafted one yourself? Any tips you can share?
Does it have key switches, like VSL, or do you have to use different tracks for different articulations?
Mostly different tracks for different articulations. I generally prefer to work that way and my template is built that way. I use key switching for some libraries, particularly Hollywood Winds and with a few 8dio libraries.

How did you make this video with the midi notes and automation info? 🥹🥹
I screen record the piano roll from my DAW, then bring it into After Effects, apply some curves and change the blending mode. You can also do this in other video/motion graphics software. (Final Cut, Premiere, Resolve etc)
