  • Featuring the rich microcosm that is the Dutch classic car scene, this show has a simply incredible mix of cars - so many that this is just part 1! I was repeatedly stunned by the cars that turned up, many of which I knew, some of which I definitely did not! There's an Alfa Romeo Rio, built in Brazil, many Daihatsus, many Renault 15s and 17s, a Centennial (a rebadged Hyundai Equus) and even a few British classics! Next time, we'll see a DAF Pony and a Renault Premiere!

Great to see the Y10 in there! Mainly because I had two in my younger days, a 1.0 FIRE in slightly-faded "baked bean orange" (think of the coulour of the sauce, not the beans) and then a white 1.3 GTie with a matching tailgate. Meanwhile, in the latest issue of Classic. Retro. Modern., Gavin Braithwaite-Smith has been wondering out loud if its successor - the 1995 Lancia Y - is a classic. I wanted one, even if it was LHD-only.

@Flaming Hedgehog. Very true, the UK seems to have a much more diverse classic car scene, and the Netherlands looks to be even more so, which I love. In Australia, the classic car scene in dominated by Holden and Ford, and mostly the performance models (cool as they are...by the time you are looking at your hundredth hot Commodore/Falcon et al variant, it's getting a bit old). I know there is some variety here, but just not anything like the Brit's or the Dutch have. Cheers!

@@HubNut Same era, the Starion was available as the Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouth Conquest.
There was also a El Camino-y type version of the Dodge Daytona, the Rampage. Although that was on the earlier L platform.

It’s so good to see so many very average cars
They are always the first to disappear 👍👍👍
I am amazed to see the Mitsubishi sigma
That model was called Magna here and I had that same model
Sigma was a smaller car here cheers Ian

Brought back memories and made me realise how much fun we had from 2000-2005 when we had a first UK generation (therefore LHD) smart and participated in events like that with 30-50 other smart owners. In 2003 we changed to a RHD cabrio, but moving the wheel to the other side ruined the car.
Friends had a heavily modified version which did in excess of 100mph and I remember a member buying the first UK Crossblade. I'd have a Roadster Cabrio Brabus in my dream garage.
About 6 years ago tried to relive the dream and bought a new Forfour manual and it was terrible! Turbo failed after 10 months so we got rid.

This was a great event. We only got there by about 13:30 and some of the cars in the video had already left. But there was still enough to see. It was nice to meet you, be it ever so briefly. Do take me up on my offer to test my Méhari the next time you're here again.

Does one of the Cuores (the one you followed) have tiny, tiny Xenon headlamps? fantastic 😁 Mind you, the yellow one appears to be dead 😂 Really looks like a great day out, I may have to wait until the eldest is a little older and drag her out for a roadtrip like this 😊

That would be an Opel Kadett D, fourth generation of the post-war Kadett. It was succeeded by the Kadett E (until 1991) and then the Astra F. My neighbours swapped a dark blue Passat (I think a B2) for a green Kadett D around 1990, a downgrade in my eyes back then. The Kadett was smaller and an ugly colour but it seems to have served them well. I don't know enough about the reputation of Vauxhall in the UK but Opel has strong "petty bourgeois" vibes, possibly elderly men driving with a hat on. Definitely not the description of my neighbour though 🙂.
Those Urvans were reasonably common in Austria, along with the similar Toyota Hi-Ace and the Mazda E2200 of the same era. Even in the 2000s you could still occasionally spot one with Datsun badges (pre-1983).
The first Reliant I ever saw was a red LHD Rialto speeding out of a Hofer (Aldi) car park with the front wheel lifting off. I had no idea what that strange little three-wheeler was at that time, until I saw it again a while later and got to read the badges.

Wow some rarely seen cars. My late best friend had a Subaru Justy. The Renualt 12,15 &17 remember them well. Miss Hubnut would be so pleased to see the Dhaihatsus. A garage local me dealt in them around 20 years ago.

What a fantastic event. Time for a quick game of which one do I want to take home? For me it's the Granada Mk2 coupe. But I'll change my mind in part 2.

That Hilux camper was a gem. Good to see a few DAFs too. I went to Den Bosch for a week in 2017 and didn't see any; just a couple of Volvo versions.
