Replacing an Evaporator

- This Altima needs an evaporator. the problem with this evaporator is that the dash has to come out first. which means center console, A-pillars, steering wheel, gauge cluster, glove box, radio, AC controls, and THEN dashboard. It's a pretty intricate install, but once its done, the AC problems will be done as well.

Muffin tray is a good idea. I’m stealing that one.
Especially if you have an old, crusty one that has had too much use...
Until you accidentally lean on it and spill the fkn hardware everywhere 🙃🤣
@@Fuaarrkkwe have tons of old magnets from magnet trays at the shop. I’m sure they do to and could take off all the old adhesive and glue a few to the bottom the magnet pucks are just about that size
@@tkc2406 was just about to say, that I hot glued magnets into the try and it works great!
Glue magnet in middle 😊
He sounds like a honest mechanic
I don't think a dishonest one would be making youtube videos.....
I did an evaporator for a friend of mine back in the 90's. I'll never do another one. Not even for myself! Good on that guy for tackling that job!
I've Been A Mechanic Since 1973. That Tray for All Your Screws Nuts Bolts Clips And Small Parts Is An Awesome Idea !
After that muffin tray you just became my favorite TH-cam mechanic.
This guy will blow up im convinced. Hopefully he gets more attention as his attitude is very relaxed
"am not too far away" the car looks like it's at a factory line getting assembled for the 1st time! This guy is a stud
This is the mechanic everyone dreams of having.
I hope this guy is getting paid his worth and more. Some people do not understand the knowledge a mechanic has to have and the physicality to repair a vehicle 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Anyone who uses a muffin tin for bolt organizing is a king in my mechanical world!
Genius idea for that tray!
Unbelievable the amount of work it takes when something behind the dash needs to be accessed...
And you just hope they put it back together correctly with no spaces or clips missing or rattles and squeaks. I had a head unit put in on a 2008 Monte Carlo SS back in 2013 and that shop basically butchered my dash. Saw a few clips hanging out and broken. My hazard light button didn't fit securely and moved around when I would press it. The glovebox was off a little bit. It's like with these cars and shops, you hope they fix the actual problem but then don't screw up something else. I just got my current vehicle out of the auto body shop a few weeks back because I was hit on my driver's side. I wasn't too worried about the damage since it was minimal but the paint I was more concerned about. And I was right as the color is too dark. I have to now go back and get that fixed.
I love this guy's energy. His vibe is awesome. Great work man. Please keep sharing these amazing tips. Very helpful and makes me happy.
Very smart man a old mechanic gave me one years ago I still use it and especially for steering columns you have everything in order you took it out have a blessed day and thank you for the tip
thats a great idea for holding all the fasteners. clever.
FINALLY, a HONEST non-lazy mechanic. Take notes wanna be mechanics/thiefs.
Gilod bless you, Sir.
Just saw that they’re located in Houston. 20 minutes from me! My ac has been acting up and I’m glad I was able to find someone who seems trustworthy
I subscribed after seeing the muffin tray😂
I’m
Glad to see a honest mechanic still exists
Reminds me alot of how my shop runs..
Customers are in good hands here . Great workk..
I need this guys business card.....
That muffin tray is genius
I love that muffin tin idea.
I really like your style!
Is that a fancy Snap-On muffin tray? 😂
I'm also stealing that idea 😁
Damn i never thought of a muffin tray. I always just used ziplock bags and paint pens
Muffin tray is a must for interior repair
This guy awesome true mechanic
Finally, not a "You just go like this mechanic", of which their are many.
I would love to see more video
You explain your work so well
I wish all the best in you future endeavours
I did one in a 92 Ford Ranger. Book repair time 9.5 hrs
You can tell he’s a honest worker. Reminds me of my dad. Would never over charge for anything. Always giving stuff away.
Muffin tray man this guy is a genius
Outstanding work sir
You can have that job...muffin tray won't hold all the nuts, bolts and clips you gotta pull to get that dash out!...rock on!
You're one of the guys i have to go clean up after because you can't figure out what goes where. I can put all of them nuts and bolts and screws in a big gulp cup and remember where each one goes.
What a job!
I swear he’s an honest mechanic I like him
Him on Shark Tank: "I present to you the future of Muffin Trays..."
Mark: "Say no more Im in"
Excellent idea.
Wow the work for one part
This guy… is my kinda guy ❤
Now we need a MAGNETIC muffin tray for automotive use
That muffin tray is different..great mechanic taking his time. You can tell he loves what he does.
Muffing tray added to my mechanic tool kit :)
There's new bolt organization mat called Boltster. Check em out they're the shit
I use a plastic ice tray to keep the bolts together.
You know what I think that’s very smart what you’re doing with that muffin tray that is just to me genius God bless you and your family. God bless the world with all just get along.
Good mechanic
Muffin tray is a brilliant idea. They are a heck of a lot cheaper than what any tool company will offer.
Mans gonna hit 100k subs and stick rock default picture?! Nice video & cool idea on muffin tray 😂
Have to do this in a 2010 focus. 12hr book time I read. Nice
Good man, great mechanic!❤
Yeah he better get a raise
I've always had an old muffin pan. Each hole has magnets
You're a good man keep it up
Good idea on the muffin tray.
I miss when people would visit me at work and see me tearing out a large section of an engine or some components in the dash and be visibly shocked that it could could apart like that let alone go back together and only on those days did I realize the gravity of some of the repairs we do most these cars now are made by robots so it's honestly a miracle that we're able to do any repairs at all let alone the more complex ones like anything that requires dash removal 😅
Who IS this guy? I LOVE him! Add another subscriber, Sir!
Love the muffin tray idea. Find a way to magnetize it, perfect for jobs like that where there are a lot of little pieces
I'll nickname him "The Muffin Man" 🎂😂
He is now the muffin man
What an interesting and wonderful man!
I like the muffin tray. I would put good magnets in each one first though because i know now matter how careful i would be, i would flip that thing over at some point.
It'd be nice to see a collaboration with you and Scotty Kilmer
Next week I’ll see a matco stamped “bolt tray”
I wish vehicle design engineers would make dashes that easily come apart and back together again
Most important is the cheapest, most often common fix: Check the shader valves first. Usually with several drops of PAG oil.
GR8 vídeo clip
Muffin tray is genious
All about that muffin tray from now on
Great idea, but my wife doesn’t think so lol
Thanks so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm going to use that
Went to Firestone to get some freon, my condenser was busted. They still put the freon in it & charged me $150 for the service. At the park the next day, it 85 degrees, ac blowing hot. You can't put freon in a car & NOT know the condenser is busted because it leaks immediately.
Took me hrs to pull one out in1985 on a cutlass supreme.
Stealing the muffin pan, will beat my cupholder anyday!
My god all that for the evaporator.
Now I see why I’m getting quoted $4k to fix the evaporator, I guess that’s it for my car 😩
😂😂😂😂 love it crunchy muffins 😅😂❤
Snap-on Muffin Tray...$200 dollars
$2999.99, pay 10 dollars a week for the next 6 years
Wait I am going and buy a muffin tray right now
Ufff $$$$ all that work !!!
My mind doesn't work like Y'all. I always have extra screws and bolt left over.
There's a method to his madness
Bro I did this with my dad one time on a dodge caravan and oh boy i would never do that shit again for any kind of money.
Bolts make the muffins more crunchy
This is why I got rid of my 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport. The evaporator and heater core both leaked and it was too much to fix.
HE KNOW HE STUFF....
Hey, what's the model /oart number of that purple light?
Dash removals are fun.
Thought everyone uses a muffin pan
This is pet peeve of mine: FREON IS A NAME BRAND!!! It’s called Refrigerant!!! It’s like calling all tissue paper, Kleenex! Or all cereals Corn Flakes! Diff between mech & technician
My car has 251,000 miles and I have the same problem with my A/C. I just recharge it every month during the summer. $ 30 worth of refrigerant every year sure beats the cost of the repair.
You must bank on this job
Ill just roll my window down
Probably the hardest problem to fix in any vehicle is a bad ac
I use small snack size ziplocks and a sharpie permanent pen to identify them
probably cheaper just keep replacing the gas as required
On my 03 Ford ranger the first sentence in my repair manual says " REMOVE STEERING COLUMN " nope !
Yeah those the jobs we send away lol
They should sue the dealership for putting condensers behind the dash.
