one of the best explained lessons, even in Manu's standarts. i really mean it. i finally got it. i also understood another thing (in the past tense, only verbs with essere change gender. for example sono andato/a. verbs with avere don't change gender. for example lui/lei ha mangiato). i didn't know this thing, and i always got confused. not anymore, thanks to Manu. i have a question: is there a difference in using ALLORA or QUINDI? Or it is the same? thanks

ALLORA is sometime used like the English "I didn't eat vegetables (back) then" "non mangiavo le verdure allora". Not the best example, but yeah... but look, you're not going to use it like that. I never do! QUINDI has a stronger meaning of "and, as a consequence of this". Non parlo cinese e quindi non posso parlare con tua madre". ALLORA wouldn't quite work there
Manu, what's the current rule on the use of the passato remoto in Italian? As I learned the rule, Italian uses the passato prossimo more frequently than French uses the passé simple, but its use is mainly confined to historical events or events that happened at least a year ago. Has that changed since I first started studying Italian?
Also, remember that all reflexive verbs take "essere" in the passato remoto (with agreement), even though reflexive verbs are by definition transitive.
Have you ever addressed the differences between "prendere" and "pigliare"? Are they badically interchangeable, or are there more specifically appropriate ways to use them? Grazie!!
