Explorer of the Seas received major upgrades, including the replacement of the inline skating rink with a Flowrider surfing simulator and increasing her tonnage to 138,194 GT. The ship's godmother is American athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee.
In 2019 September, it was announced that the ship will get a refurbishment with $110 million in makeovers before its 2020 summer season. The refurbishment that was to take place under the amplification program in 2020 was delayed indefinitely due to the COVID pandemic, instead only technical refurbishment took place.

I know that no doubt a lot has changed since I 've cruised on this beautiful Ship, I cruised it in the summer of 2001 and I just loved it. The first night there was actually a Mardi gras parade performed on board, it was so very colorful and fun-filled . I went with several family members and friends, I wanted my Niece who was in her teens at the time to have someone there as the same age as she herself was, so I invited her best friend and paid her way, it was both of their very first cruise, I paid for both their trip, plus my own included,wanted to treat her and she and her parents were very appreciative and they both had a ball,( my Niece and her best friend), they had a club for teenagers only ( my Niece kept on playfully reminding me that I wasn't allowed inside, Lol 😂, but yeah I knew that she was just joking and I did venture inside, very nice). and well everything was was very much so well worth it. Loved the cruise, had a fabulous time, very beautiful ship ❤❤🥰
Grab a panoramic ocean view cabin on deck 13 if you can grab one. Fantastic views right out the front of the ship. I was on explorer to Fiji

My wife and I are sailing to Greece on the Explorer of the Seas this October. I am glad I saw this video, though it is a smaller ship, it looks like a very nice ship. I cannot wait until October now.

Sailing on Explorer to the Greek Isles in 2024, the only other ship I've been on was Anthem OTS this year, I was slightly concerned that Explorer would feel a bit small or there would be less to do on board in comparison but your video has put me at ease! Fantastic in depth tour - thank you!
Question, we want to take Trans Atl cruise but concerned it was not renovate since 2015 ? Not sure of real reno time frame ?
I was on the Explorer doing the Greeks and I had the best time ever. I was watching the video so I could remember the good times. Something that's wasn't shown in the video is the teen club. I am a teen, and If you have children around the age of 12 to 17 they can make a lot of friends there.

Great tour. I was on this ship for a 23 day transpacific crossing, then again for a Dutch French Adventure, and it appears it will be the ship that is going to take me through Greece. Great to see some of the refurbishments that have happened since I sailed her last in 2019!!

Considering going on a 10 night Southern Caribbean cruise from Miami next year 2025. Never cruised Royal Caribbean before. I'm just not sure yet because we have to fly all the way from SF Bay area lol

Do they seem much bigger than explorer?
On the deck plans, quantum class looks narrower than explorer.
Quantum ships are noticeably bigger, and there are other differences. I miss the Solarium Bistro and indoor solarium.

is the sauna and steam room free and the pool near the gym free to use or do you have to pay extra to use those facilities as some cruise lines are charging I believe to use.
