Thanks for commenting. It was great to see/hear Martin. There are another 3 uploads from Martin Barre Band @ Cropredy on my channel. I wish I had stayed down the front to record one of my favourite songs (& more) from the album 'Stand Up', 'New Day Yesterday', the other is 'We Used To Know' or as it was renamed on a later release song from The Eagles, 'Hotel California'. I know many do not agree, but when I first heard HC I loved it but had a nagging thought that it was because I had heard it before, so I listened to HC over & over then it came to me, it's not exactly the same but the structure of the song, the solos & the phrasing are so similar. Ian Anderson is very magnanimous when asked about the similarities, if the 'boot was on the other foot' I believe it would've ended up in court.

Thanks for commenting. I wish I had stayed at the front & recorded the whole of Martin's set, instead of just 4. The uploads I have put here have had a good number of viewings. Hopefully, Martin will get invited back to Cropredy field to delight us again.

Hi Pete, I was gonna get in touch about meeting there but we were a 1000 miles away in Portugal at the time. I wanted to go mainly to see this band. They sound great! Check out Tosin Abasi-The Woven Web. One man and a pedal board!

I must admit I was of the same opinion when I saw them, nobody does Ian Anderson better than Ian Anderson, but I was not that impressed with Jethro Tull last time I saw them without Martin.

@@IOW70 agreed Its one thing to sound like the person who originally sang the song, but acting like him is too much. Like seeing a bad Elvis impersonator. I think Ian should have retired when his voice left in the 80s to me what he calls Tull now is a bunch of nobodies playing a greatest hit set.

@@buzzedalldrink9131 Yes to your "bad Elvis impersonator" comment. I guess Martin encouraged him to sound/act like Ian ( his voice may have been a deciding factor in Martin signing him up, I don't know), perhaps not seeing Dan Crisp performing a physical impersonation would be better. As a band, I thought they sounded great especially having Clive Bunker there. I've always thought that 'tribute acts' needed the singer to sound similar to the original singer, after all that's the most obvious sound comparison, but this is the Martin Barre Band not 'Jethro Toe' a tribute act 😁so Dan could tone down his performance a bit, others may have a different opinion.
Perhaps others could give their opinions here.

@@IOW70 A long-time, but not deeply knowledgeable Tull fan who luckily saw the anniversary tour and never saw Martin B. Stumbling on this would make me interested in seeing MB. I did not know this song; to me it could be a Tull or MB in theory. I thought the whole production was excellent. I like Steve Hackett for example and his front man sometimes does not necessarily fit my image of whatever.... but I have learned that if I close me eyes the voice is really spot on and great. This to say I tend to downplay such thoughts. It's the overall intention and attitude to me and here, I get they are into it and my sense of the vocalist was it was just celebrating the song's energy. It added and did not detract for me. I don't know either, maybe it grates on your nerves after a while. I wished the vocalist on the anniversary tour changed outfits somewhat... a military jacket throughout... The fact any of these guys are still performing is a blessing.
