I have to say that your presence resonates with my spirit. Your pace, respect for nature/the land, family/mothering, ancestry, unschooling, mindfulness of consumption, joy of knitting, and intentional textile work rooted in your culture are a beautiful reflection of the sacred. It's such a joy to watch your podcast and be in community with you. Congratulations! Thank you, Daki. 💛
Ahhh your words just uplift me and make me feel connected to you in all the right ways! This has been the greatest gift of putting myself out there in this way; resonance and community, it is everything that we're lacking in the world and everything we need to take us into the future. There is kinship between us - I feel it ❤️
I was amazed at the beginning of ur video that u had no sweater on & were doing chores with bare arms. I was feeling cold just watching u lol. I was very glad when u put on ur sweater & scarf. I live in NE Texas & I have just been freezing in this present ice storm going on. I have layers of clothes on & sit or sleep under 3 blankets in this winter. U r very diligent, organized & elegant in ur life & video presentation. I really enjoy ur sharing. I have 8 children all grown now & I homeschooled them for years & years. We all learned many skills.
Oh my goodness! 8 children! You are a champion Kat! Thank you so much for your kind words about the podcast and for taking time to leave me this wonderful message. I have a friend who lives up in the Texas Hill country as well and she's being telling me about the crazy weather you're having in this late winter period. I hope it all lets up soon and that you get some return of warmer easier weather!
Just wanted to confirm that I absolutely love these interruptions 😍 I we'd all allow ourselves to just show these things to others, in work or in casual surroundings, I think it would make us so much more humane. And so much easier to see what connects us, instead of what separates us.
I love the precious interruptions of family...and your beautiful laugh...it makes everything so welcoming and cozy...I am wanting to learn to knit socks this year...that is my goal even at my age soon to be 70! How did that happen?! 😳 it is so comforting to listen to you and watch the snippets with your precious family...thank you so so much😊4 K giveaway!
Thank you so very much! I'm so happy you appreciate the way we do things here. And I'm sure you'll master socks in no time! They really are so much simpler than you'd think. Someone once told me that once I turn my first heel it will never seem difficult again. And it's true! 🙏🏾☀️
Beautiful episode, as always. You are a lovely soul and so generous to share your time with us. Jumper is an English term, very seldom used here in the US, and many people wouldn’t know it means “sweater”. I love to see your enthusiasm for Icelandic yarn. It is so warm and relatively inexpensive compared to many yarns. Be well and all the best in 2023.
Thank you so much Madeline for your very kind and generous words! I too agree about how wonderful Icelandic yarn is in every way including its affordability. Sending you all the very best for this new year and thank you for being here 🙏🏾
It makes my heart sing. You now live and love the small corner of the world I still consider home even though I live 5,000 miles away from it. I was born and raised in the pacific northwest and spent most of my childhood and went to college on the peninsula.
Hello there Jessica! I am so happy that the love I have for this glorious peninsula makes you feel at home even though you're far from it! Thank you so much for watching the podcast, your words have made me very happy today 🙏🏾💕
Hello Dali, I want you to know how much I enjoy your podcasts. The gentleness in your presentation is perfect. I also have 4 children, however mine are all grown and gone at this time. I can relate to the need for interruptions and each time it happens to you I long for the days when my children were young. Regarding my knitting plans.. well, this year I have decided to focus on knitting some garments for myself. After years of knitting for others I think I need to refresh my wardrobe. I look forward to getting inspiration from your podcast and knitting with you.
Hello there Valerie and thank you for coming back to watch the podcast 🙏🏾 I love how you say that the interruptions actually make you wish your children were young again; I am so keenly aware of how fast this time with them is running by me and I make it my mission to embrace every moment, even the ones that are most challenging 🙏🏾
Hi Daki, thoroughly enjoyable! I don't think podcasting made me more of a multi project knitter... but becoming more confident at knitting did! It takes less brain space to start a new pattern, so don't need to focus so much/learn so many new things for each pattern and can pick up and put down and swap in between without getting lost and confused! But I have only been knitting a couple of years so that might be why! (and I used to read several books at once so I suppose it is no different :) ) Love the socks!
Hello there and thank you for answering my question about juggling many projects. I like your take on it, that different parts of the pattern require different things from us so it makes sense to be able to pick and choose between parts of the process. 🙏🏾
Your knitting podcast is like grabbing a cup of tea on a lazy rainy day with some great knitting friends in front of a warm fire. So cozy, comfortable and inviting. Love it…
X2 watch the pattern on the sleeves is just exquisite! Lovely work. No worries . Your life as a Mother who is also working is highly respected. I raised Merino sheep on a large farm raising three children as well and interruptions are life. Take good care.
I just discovered your channel through the lovely Cari of My Wool Mitten, and am waving at you from my little corner of the world by the sea in South Wales in the UK. I thought I would start a few episodes back, but now I've watched this beautiful video I know I will have to go right back to the beginning and watch them all. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful projects and a glimpse in to your creative inspirations I already know that your channel will become one of my favourites.
Ahhhh that is such a kind and sweet thing to say! Thank you so much for your very lovely words and I am a great fan of my dear friend Cary! I'm sure you feel right at home here as well 🌷🙏🏾
I have just recently discovered your podcast and I find it truly delightful. Your thoughts and ideas on intentional thoughtful living are so refreshing. I love to see the world through your eyes. 🙂
Hi there! Thank you so much for your sweet words about the podcast and I'm so happy to hear that you're resonating with what I'm doing here through my videos. It's so wonderful when the work here reaches those who truly feel at home with the experience I'm presenting. thank you so much for your support! 🙏🏾💙
One more thing, a ‘jumper’ is a British term for a sweater, which is the American term for the same. The universal term is, I believe, pullover. Love your socks!!!
Your podcast is lovely and I’m so glad I’ve found you. 2023 is my year of realizing that I have enough. Planning to spend my money on travel experiences.
I forgot to share my knitting dreamings. I am a monogamous knitter. Next 2 projects are planned. The Ripple jacket by Hinterm Stein and the Anne Boleyn by Alice Starmore.
Greetings. This is my second episode with you and I love it. I am interested in knitting with unspun wool and listened to episode 10 because you were speaking on it. I have come back for another episode because I love your calm quiet manner. I find this podcast relaxing and warm, like listening to a friend. I especially like how you bring in the little tidbits of your family and life in the upper Pacific Northwest. Would love to hear more about life in your cottage and surroundings. Loved hearing the baby noises and totally respect how you stopped the podcast to care for your children. You communicate the importance of family, the simple pleasures of life, and joy in nature. I will make one suggestion. I am finding the blinking twinkle lights in this episode in your studio visually distracting from the greater beauty you wish to share in your knitting treasures. Keep up the good work sharing the love of knitting and fiber.
Thank you so much Kristen for your generous and kind words about the podcast and about what I'm sharing here! And yes, I do agree about the fairy lights in my studio; they are LED lights and unfortunately, although they are not set to blinking, LED lights have this effect, called the strobe effect, which makes them appear to be blinking when caught on certain types of digital cameras. I will be removing those lights in upcoming videos and using incandescent lighting only. I love that you said that it is like listening to a friend when you're watching my podcast; so many of my favorite podcast is make me feel the same way 💕🙏🏾
Good morning! Found you through Tyedye Diva and ssooo glad I have!! 😊 Having grown up in Vancouver, BC, I agree that this is a beautiful place to live. Namaste ❤xo
Hello Daki, so inspiring to hear you talk about the land which you come from and the great energy you project to your followers on you podcast. Truly wonderful and will take a second view of it to take it all in. I was just watching Sandra from Cherry Heart podcast and her recommendation of watching your channel, so yes I’m here to stay and I will now enjoy looking back at previous ones and reading the comments. My knitting is for my new Great grandchild arrival in the next few days! Here in Sydney, Australia is our summer solstice and so crochet is my choice and it’s Sandra’s Batternburg blanket is soft pastels that will be finished for this new precious soul coming into our lives. 💗Congratulations on #4Kgiveaway.
Hello there Dawn! And and welcome fellow Cherry Heart Fan! Thank you so much for finding the podcast and for your kind words. I'm so happy to have you here 🙏🏾
Like you, in the UK we still say jumpers, not sweaters. I agree, sweaters are leisure/sports wear, machine knit, with a smooth outside and a looped or brushed fleece texture inside. But I guess in the US they call that a sweatshirt or jersey? Thank you for your lovely podcast and for sharing your creative endeavours.
In Australia, ‘sweaters’ are known as jumpers. An older, maybe European generation may use ‘pullover’, but never sweater. And cardigans are cardigans, but we’ll often say, ‘cardi’.
Birgitta from Yarn Chaos just popped up in my feed and she mentioned your podcast. Had to go and check your podcast. I live in Norway and as you know, we have a long history of knitting. My grand mother was an avid sock knitter. She said that that was her job. It was so important to keep your feet warm and dry and the only way to do that was to wear woolen socks. She had 4 children and they all loved her socks. She knit almost until the day she died (she died at 101 years old). I started knitting socks about 10 years ago and love it. Looking forwards to following you in the future. Congratulations on reaching almost 6K #4kgiveaway
Oh what a beautiful story about your knitting heritage Irene! Thank you so much for sharing it. And handknit socks are truly the best gift. 🙏🏾 Welcome to the channel and thanks for finding the podcast! 💙
Hello Ducky, I hope I spelled your first name correctly. My Aunt's name is Ducky as well. You look like me!!! And, I am so happy to see this. You are Indigenous and I am Black. Your pride shows just as mine shows in who we are. I am 71 years old and have just learned how to knit by picking up a book and reading. Working on my first sweater and loving it! Next project will be socks. I love your colors. Reminds me of beautiful music. Good New Year to you and those 4 babies. My mother had 4 children as well then came along a 5th when I was 19 lol. Please take care.
Thank you so much Joanne for such warm and kind words! Thank you for finding the podcast and watching it. I am a recent immigrant to this country and of South Asian descent and yes I'm very happy that you see my love and attachment to my culture and that you appreciate it too. How wonderful that you have taught yourself how to knit! This craft is such an unending Joy through all of life good times and hard times 💙🙏🏾
Just discovered your channel and I’m so happy to have done so. Your gentle, intelligent, mindful attitude will resonate with so many across the world. And…here in England, we usually still wear jumpers x
Happy and blessed New Year to you and your family. ❤ I just love your peace-filled, encouraging podcasts. My knitting journey started about 6 years ago, and the last 2 years, it has become my peace, my comfort, and stress reducer 😊. I am now starting the spinning wool journey, that is so exciting to me, to hand spin, then knit what I have created. I absolutely love that unspun yarn you received from Germany. So heavenly. Congratulations on the #4kgiveaway. Thank you for your valuable time and wisdom in the fiber arts in sharing with us.
Such kind words and encouragement for me, thank you so much Becky! I agree that spinning pool at the Knitting with your own handspun is an experience like no other. 🙏🏾☀️ A blessed and prosperous New Year to you and your family!
Another wonderful podcast ❤️. I have been watching your earlier shows and enjoying them so much! #4Kgiveaway So happy for you! You have so may kindred spirits here and we are blessed with your calmness and lifestyle choices to guide us forward. My knitting dreams for 2023 are to use more of my handspun yarn in interesting ways….and to get an indigo vat going again once this winter weather turns to Spring. I have been working in the fiber arts for decades and sharing my knowledge with others. Now that our communities are opening up from the past couple of tough years I will be teaching once again. Thank you for sharing your life with us…it is sooo valuable. 💕💙🌟🌸💫
Oh what an honour to have a fellow fiber worker watching my podcast here! I'm thrilled to know that you're tuning in. 🥰🙏🏾 So much gratitude for your support and encouragement. I hope your plans for the vat go smoothly and that you'll be blessed with the pure magic that is indigo this coming dye season. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have knitting to carry me through the cold months without indigo. My whole body aches for the blue and the vat. It is a profound feeling! 💙🙏🏾
I adore your podcast. Thank you for your wisdom and insights. This year I hope to explore unspun yarns and more farm yarns that are in their rustic natural undyed state. I love picking vegetable matter out of my knitting and connecting with the animals as I flick my yarn.
I'm completely with you and your love for wool in its most natural and close to nature form! Thank you so much for your kind words about the podcast 🙏🏾✨
It's such a bliss to listen to you telling about your passion for knitting and your culture. I love it ! When I started podcasting/vlogging, I put pressure on myself to knit several projects so I could put out more videos into the world. But I rapidly realized how unsustainable it was for me. I am a monogamous knitter and it feels a lot better 😄 Now, I publish videos whenever I'm inspired or have a finished object to vlog about. I'm a comic artist and knitting is a hobby that allows me to create in a different way. That's why I'm not putting any pressure on myself anymore to create more content for TH-cam or Instagram. It has to stay something that is enjoyable and soothing after a hard day of work. My winter knitting plans are very simple: a Oslo Hat for me (which I'm currently knitting) and for my husband. Then, it will be a Louvre Sweater by PetiteKnit that I will turn into a sweater dress! 🤞 Congratulations for reaching 4K youtube subscribers ! It is well deserved and I wish you lots of happy moments with knitting ! Big french hugs ! 💕
Hello there lovely! Oh it fills my heart to see your sweet message here today ❤️ thank you so much for finding the podcast and for leaving me this comment, so that I could connect with you as well! I absolutely agree about keeping knitting as the comfort that it is, and not turning into yet another chore and performance for outside validation. It's a fine line to walk and stay conscious about specially when you're involved in making things like videos and sharing them on social media. I absolutely love that you're a comic artist and wonder if there is a platform on which you share your work? Thank you so much for joining in the giveaway and look forward to seeing you around here again. Hugs and best wishes to you and your family for the coming new year 🤗🤎☀️
I am not a podcaster but since I have been watching knitting podcasts I am finding it harder to keep going with the current jumper and not cast on other projects as I now have more things in the queue that I want to do/learn. But I know that if I start something else now the current jumper is in danger of disappearing into the UFO box and might live there for years. I want to wear it this winter, so I am keeping going with it.
This year, I'm hoping to knit more mindfully and make my knitting time sacred. I plan to use fiber and yarn that sings to my soul. The best part of most projects, for me, is connecting with the energies of the yarn and it's origin. Just love your podcasts. I wish we were neighbors! #4Kgiveaway
Oh reading your words, I could not agree with you more! Also witchy bibliophile....could be a twin😄💙 wool has energy! I do so fervently believe it! Real wool is alive in a way that is hard to ever describe 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Hello Daki. Congratulations on reaching so many followers! #4Kgiveaway. It's lovely that so many folks are able to watch your very aesthetically pleasing, thoughtful musings and creations. Your creativity is evident everywhere I look in your podcast. My knitting aspirations include making a couple of colour work jumpers for my husband and myself from the loveliest bouncy, shiny, rustic yarn I have a bale of called Quebecoise. It's Canadian and spun in Quebec. I believe Elizabeth Zimmerman was a big fan of the yarn. So am I. I hope to use it up but like I said, I have a lot!
Thank you so much Ann, for your kind, encouraging, and warm words about my work here on this channel ❤️ I truly appreciate it, and it continues to motivate me to keep doing this. And the yarn you speak of has now peaked my interest, as I'm a fangirl of Elizabeth Zimmerman in the biggest possible way and will pretty much do anything she recommends😂
I just happened on your podcast with this episode and don't know how in the world I have managed to miss you all this time! I love hearing about and seeing your unique creations. As time progresses, I find I am less enamored with processed fibers and more drawn to naturally resourced yarns. My knitting plans for this year include making a sweater with lovely polwarth, possum, and silk for my grandson, and then one for myself out of Letlopi. I can't wait to learn some new skills, including brioche, as well. Thank you for a lovely and relaxing moment today. #4KGiveaway
I'm so happy to hear that you've enjoyed this episode on my channel and that you have found the podcast at last! Welcome Deborah and I hope you continue to enjoy the videos I make here. Wishing you a wonderful new year ahead and hoping you get to cost on that lettlopu jumper!
Congratulations on 4k! I found your channel after Tayler from Wool Needles Hands recommended your videos in her podcast. And now I'm hooked! Your spirit is so calming and uplifting. My husband and I just moved to WA last year, and I love seeing the beauty of the PNW in your videos. Keep up the amazing work! And thank you for sharing your podcast with all of us.
Hi Daki, this is such a lovely podcast! I found you while I watching Megha and I could not be more happy I found another lovely person on YT.. thank you and have a nice start of the year :) Helena
Congratulations! As far as the #4kGiveaway, my goals this year are all over the place. My husband bought me seeds for the spring so hopefully I will have japanese indigo and woad to play with. I have been trying to write my own patterns, or at least gaining confidence in writing my own patterns. I have to test-knit my own hat in a bit and I want to keep improving with that and pushing my skills further and beyond. So... I suppose it's a year of challenges and learning for me. I can't grow otherwise, right? I always love how your lovely indigo dyed yarns are part of everything and it's very inspiring to me! Thank you so much for your podcast!
Oh yes you're definitely right about that! Indigo is very much Central in so much i do💙 it sounds to me that you have some wonderful textile related dreamings for this year, and I really hope working with your own plant dyes will be a fulfilling and fun adventure!
Love the scarf you’re wearing-- so beautiful!!!!! Thank you for sharing your love of knitting, in your so busy life. I’m new here, but will definitely be returning often-- Thank you
Hello! I have got my knitting mojo back after taking some years off. I retired early last January to care for my husband who has Parkinson’s. Knitting brings me so much joy again after having a year full of new challenges. I have recently discovered TH-cam knitting vlogs. Amazing! I love knitting with you and some other fabulous, creative designers. I am following you on YT and IG 🤍🧶. I’m currently making a wrap for my sister that lives by the sea. I am in the upper Midwest IN. I really want to start knitting sweaters in 2023! You are so inspiring. I love your spirit 🤍#4kgiveaway
Audrey, these are such kind and thoughtful words about my podcast and I thank you for taking the time to leave them here for me 🙏🏾 I hope your knitting plans for this year continues to go well and that it continues to give you Joy and moments of ease as you care for your husband. Blessings to you both 🙏🏾
As i sit here working on my project, i am soothed by your voice and the words that you speak. Thank you for sharing your wonderful, gingerbread home, crafts and family with us. Thank you for giving away that lovely project bag that you made. What a treat for whoever wins that and thank you, Kristen, for giving away 3 patterns. This year, i will be casting on socks and also crocheting amigurumi for my new grandson. I also will be making items to enter into our local county fair here in Southern Colorado for the first time ever with a couple ladies that i have met through a knit/crochet group i started at our local library about a year ago. #4kgiveaway. 😊
Such encouraging comments shannon, thank you so much! And thank you for sharing your making goals for this year. I've always wanted to make time for crocheting little creatures 🙏🏾💙
I love your sleeve construction, Daki! Really clever!! Also resonating with your love of rose…I am a huge fan, use it in tea, have essential oil and a rose skin oil for after bath. Just makes me relaxed and happy. You are also absolutely hilarious!🤣❤️😘
Your shawl is beyond beautiful! What a sweet, thoughtful gift. I’m so thankful to have found your channel. Your presence and the vibe of your channel is so peaceful. 💛
Dear Daki, again I‘m enjoying your podcast! Your handmade purse is so beautiful, so I want to take part in the #4kgiveaway ! It is amazing, how fast your channel has been growing since I had found you in autumn! And I‘m so happy about it, that more and more people find you. A big hug from Tatjana!
I nearly forgot! My current knitting plans are actually involving dying with indigo for the first time! I want to dye angora yarns that I got from my friend Claire, who has her own flock of angora rabbits; and then knit with it the Galdor cardigan by Marina Skua, who also has a so lovely podcast here on TH-cam.
Hello there Tatjana! How nice to see you here and welcome back to the podcast! Thank you for joining the giveaway and yes I do love the idea of angora dyed in indigo. I hope it will be a really fun experience for you! 💙🙏🏾 I've seen Marina's cardigan a few times on her account on Instagram and it's absolutely beautiful ❤️
Good morning Daki and Happy New Year! Your video really resonated with me about making. First, just the sound of your voice calms me down. This is how I want to enter 2023. I am a crocheter so I really loved those ornaments. But also I agree with less consumption and knowing that I am enough and have enough to be the maker I want to be. I am finishing a crochet sweater and I put 3/4 sleeves on. I am just over the moon and hope it fits. I am looking forward to more of your very wise videos that convey a certain peace.
Kimberly thank you so much for sharing these words with me - you have no idea how much they uplift me and also provide me with the knowledge that what I'm doing here is finding the people that will resonate with the most. I've never made a crochet sweater before and it remains something that I'd love To try someday 💙🙏🏾
Hi Daki. Thanks as always for the beautiful and peaceful reflection on your current status. In 2022, I came back to knitting for the first time in 3 years; being a naturally warm-blooded person and having moved to Arizona for a time made it difficult for me to consider woolen goods as appropriate clothing! However, I recently moved back to the Upper Midwest, feeling the call of the North once again. For the #4kgiveaway, I would like to share my most ambitious year for knitting. I have one sweater on needles, and 4 sweaters and a "shlanket" in my queue. Needless to say, it will be a year to carefully balance these dreams with my body's needs - and those for my family and household as well.
How beautifully you put that! Balance and all things in their right time and at the right pace. This is the wisdom I try to guide my own plans by as well. I hope your move northern climes will treat you well and that all your knitting Dreamings will give you Joy through the year🙏🏾💙🙏🏾
Beautiful episode: thank you. I am becoming more and more intrigued by unspun yarn and plan to try knitting with some in a small project before I commit to buying a jumper amount. Maybe some mittens? Not colourwork, but a plain and pretty colour. I have found a London shop that sells a spanish unspun which I would like to try. Huge congratulations for reaching 4K subscribers: nearly 5K now! x
Thank you so much Nicola for your kind words, and I very much encourage you to try out something like plotulopi; it's easy to network and a dream fabric! 🙏🏾💙
The shawl is lovely and even prettier as it was made with love for you. We did have snow too, we on the other side of the pudges sound so not to much difference in weather. I was very glad the weather was clear the day my oldest flew home right before Christmas. Congratulations on four thousand subscribers. #4kgiveaway I want to knit my second adult sweater and lots of socks, possibly try cuff down pattern as I’ve only tried toe up last year.
Oh hello on the other side of the sound! Yes all the snow over Solstice and Christmas was absolutely delightful, and now we're back to typical gray and gloom and lots of rain 😄 I must say I'm never complaining about rain on the peninsula again, not after the terrible dry Summers we've been having. Thanks so much for watching the podcast!🙏🏾💙
What a beautiful opening! Love what you're wearing and hearing about your wips. The bag you made is so pretty and well made. Congratulations on reaching a goal!!! #4Kgiveaway. This season I want to try a sweater, for myself. I've been afraid, but, really want to try. And, socks, really want to try to knit some socks. Love, hugs, prayers to you. Yes, be grateful for what we have.
Children are a blessing. I too have 4 children and now 7 grandchildren. It’s wonderful. Love your podcast and your love for nature and the environment. You are such a beautiful soul, Daki. Love your beautiful shawl.
What a beautiful podcast. I have now enjoyed two of your podcasts as I'm knitting along with you! I love what a positive role model you are for a slower pace and how to be a nurturing parent, too! I'm a newer knitter. My oldest daughter has far surpassed me and inspired me...but my mom was a crafter and crocheter when I was young and I have always been drawn to crafting of all kinds. I started my family when I was in my early 20s and never found much time for crafting during those years. It is now a season in my life when I could devote some time to growing my knitting skills. I have been knitting regularly for several years and irregularly for closer to 10 years? Working on my first long sleeve raglan sweater out of some gorgeous Malabrigo Rios Solis. I live in Texas, so I hope I get it done in time to wear it while we still have cold weather! How exciting for you that as I'm typing this you have over 5K subscribers as you are preparing to do a #4Kgiveaway!
Hello there Shirley! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my podcasts and to leave me such a delightful message today 🙏🏾 I'm so glad that you are finding the time to knit more and Hope that you get to finish this sweater in time to wear it this season. I too try to find tiny pockets of time in which tornado row here, a row there, being in the midst of mothering for very small little beings. 🙏🏾💙
@@woolandtheforest ❤Lol. I wonder if that was an autocorrect "tornado" row here, a row there. You are slowing your pace of life in the midst of mothering 4 little "tornados" of beings?! I remember how busy things were with little ones around. It is amazing you find time to craft...and what a wonderful thing you can teach your children to knit and create!
One of my winter knits is Azor by Orlane Sucche, which has a lovely colour yoke. Bought the yarn in Edinburgh, before visiting Shetland with a knitting friend last summer. Hope to finish this WIP before winter’s over, to get some wear out of it. I live in Sweden, and we have snow at the moment. Wishing you and your family a blessed, creative new year! Ylva
Hello there Ylva! Ooh that sounds like a beautiful project and from a designer I have not heard of before. Thank you for that, I will definitely check it out as I'm always interested in color work designers. A blessed and abundant New Year to you and your family 🎉💙
I find your channel so calming and relaxing. For that I thank you. I have more unfinished projects than I would like. So my goal for this year is to concentrate on either finishing or frogging those projects. I feel it so wasteful to just let all that precious yarn sit in a bag and go unused. So I hope to organize my projects and yarn so I can feel freer and lighter with less unfinished items hanging around. My goal is always to learn and grow as a knitter by stretching a little with each project. I hope you and your family have a joyous, safe New Year! #4kgiveaway
Finishing something you have started or revising and letting it go, are such important aspects of the creative process. And I applaud you for having your priorities in the right place with your knitting and making! Thank you so much for your kind and lovely words about the podcast, and wishing your family a New Year full of abundance and well-being!
I'm a new listener / watcher. Thank you so much for such a peaceful vlogcast. I enjoy working with fiber as a hobby, and it is wonderful to have other fiber crafters / artists that I can listen to during my work day.
How wonderful to have found your podcast whilst I knit this morning! I see some bingeing on past episodes during my sewing in the afternoon. Congratulations on your channel #4Kgiveaway. My knitting dreams for this year are all things colourwork. A beautiful fair isle pullover or cardigan will be my goal. I love lopi yoked sweaters (Alafoss or lettilopi) and have knit many, but am somewhat hesitant of tensioning on finer gauge items. Thank you for your sharing as I look forward to watching more.
Hello Carolyn and welcome to the channel! Thank you so much for finding the podcast and for taking the time to leave such kind words. I share the exact same hesitation about fair isle knitting! I've been longing to knit an Alice Starmore pattern for years but keep being afraid I'll get the tension all wonky😄🙏🏾
Lovely to visit you again Dali, so many treasures today. Loved your daughters mitts, they look so cozy and pretty. Fascinating to see the construction of your jumper (yes, it’s jumper to me too ☺️), and hear a little more about that tailoring side. It certainly makes for interesting knitting construction too. I also hate to say it, but I feel it could have been podcasting, or even Instagram that’s turned me for a monogamous maker into one with a few things on the go. It’s awful to think I have changed to suit this format, but I confess it’s true. When I just blogged, I would finish one thing and then post about it. Then on to the next. Here I suppose I feel it’ harder to chat away only about one thing maybe? I suppose I feel I have to have more to show. Here on You Tube and on Insta. Trouble is, I fear I may be in too deep to change back now! ☺️😂
Hello dear Sandra! ❤️❤️ Thank you so much for stopping by the podcast again. And oh how interesting to hear how TH-cam and Instagram have changed the way you handle your projects. I feel too that I'm more likely to reach for one extra project to have on the go now that I'm podcasting. But of course I have the natural limitations on my time and ambitions because of the little ones and I'm so grateful for the check and brakes they provide for me. ❤️🙏🏾❤️
You are just awesome ❤️ Happy new year! Be well! We are just getting winter started, few weeks of snow (20cm) and waiting the minus degrees (-10-25C) really kick in 😊 i love it Love from mother of2 SW Finland ❤️
A very happy New Year to you Teija! It makes me so happy to read your words. Finland has a close place in my heart for reasons that I myself cannot fully articulate. It's an old memory. A very very old memory.... My heart often flies there and wonders whether I'll ever get the chance to see it in person.❤️🙏🏾
I’m so glad your podcast popped up in my feed … I’ve really enjoyed it and your approach to life. I actually have just finished decluttering our house and we are only going to live with what we have/need to live a more simpler life 🏠 I’m a sock knitter but want to have more hand knit sweaters in my wardrobe. I’ve just finished my first color work sweater and really enjoyed the process. I’m hoping to use some of my single skeins of sock yarn to knit a striped fingering weight pullover sweater. I look forward to seeing your unspun sock pattern - it sounds intriguing (but no pressure). I’ve had 2 skeins of unspun yarn in my stash for years now but have never found the right pattern. All the best - Denise
Thank you so much Denise for your kind words about the podcast. I truly appreciate it! I'm always so happy to connect with others who are living by this same ethos of taking less, consuming less and making do with what we already have. I hope I can get the sock pattern out soon enough and thank you for your interest! 🙏🏾
I am so grateful that I have stumbled across your podcast. Your words and ethos for sustainable knitting and consumption inspire me to do better! My winter knitting plans are focused on garments- I hope to knit a few sweaters this season to start replacing my store-bought ones. Another goal I have for this year is to knit a pair of socks each month- every time I put a pair on I think about the work that has gone into them to help warm and protect a body part that is so integral to my mobility. I am looking forward to your next podcast- thank you for all of the hard work you put into producing such a beautiful production. #4Kgiveaway
You are so kind Elizabeth, thank you for your encouragement and support! It really does motivate me to keep producing these videos. I too want to end up with a closet full of only hand knit jumpers, so I'm very much hoping you get a good start on it this year! 🙏🏾💙
My knitting dreaming for this year (or one of many) is to start a Paper Houses coat/blanket/robe with my scrap yarn and single skeins of fingering. Your description of your triangle kimono actually made me think of this pattern which is essentially a wearable blanket knit in modular triangles! #4kgiveaway
Oh wow how interesting! I haven't heard of that pattern; I almost never spend any time on Ravelry and have a tendency to it's making up my own designs so I don't know many of the most popular patterns out there. Thank you for taking time to leave a comment and I wish you a very happy year of knitting! Blessings to both you and your baby for your protection and well-being 🙏🏾💙
Hiya Daki.. I have to share how much your episodes resonate with me. I don't come across too many people who have such an affinity for motherhood, nature and to use just what one needs. When I speak with other people, I often feel like I'm alone in thinking in this way, and it makes me so sad that humanity has gone away from living a peaceful life, in communion with mother nature. You have my made heart so glad because I know, from reading many comments of others here in this community, that indeed there are many out there that live like us. Thank you for your gentle way and congratulations on such a wonderful milestone #4Kgiveaway Looking forward to many more talks with you 🫶
Oh these are the most heartwarming and kind words Tea, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing so warmly with me! And yes I do think this is one of the best things that have come out of me putting my work out there, creating connections with people who resonate with the same things and perceive the world in the same ways. Thank you again for being here with me 🙏🏾💙
As I’m watching your podcast, I’m knitting a shawl for a dear friend who lives far away from me now. I hope that she feels that same sense of joy and loved-ness that you feel from your friend when you wear your gift.
4k giveaway! Congratulations on your first 4k youtube subscribers!! I am so inspired by your makes and style. My knitting/spinning aspirations include but not limited to: 1. Stashdown on both fiber and yarn, 2. Knit the Felix cardigan, 3. A hat/s (probably purl soho and petiteknit patterns), 4. Knit multiple pairs of the drk everyday sock, 5. Knit the Shift Cowl and Sophie Shawl, 6. Colorwork mittens (pattern TBD), and finally, 7. Several of Jennifer Steingass' yoke pullovers. Also, I would like to get into dyeing wool and weaving. It's going to be a busy year! Cheers!!!
🎉🎉 Yay Jennifer! Now that's what I call a real knitting dreaming! All your plans sound wonderful? Especially the multiple yoke sweaters💜 thanks so much for joining the giveaway!
4Kgiveaway: my knitting dreams for this year are 2 Icelandic wool sweaters in Einrum, as well as finishing my Icelandic wool mittens and socks from the Icelandic Knitter yarn club #4. And I know you appreciate Icelandic wools as much as I. Check out her yarn club; it’s been very fun and includes imaginative patterns and stories with each package. All the best to you, Daki. I live your episodes and charming presence. ❤🧶
Oh thank you so much for the heads up about the yarn club! And by Icelandic knitter I assume you mean Helene Magnusson? That is so very exciting as I'm an enormous fan of her and her work❤️
Happy New year. May you and your family be blessed with health and happiness always. Such a lovely podcast. Thank you for sharing your haughty and work with us. Your podcast is such a treasure. Namaste 🙏
Thank you so much Anne for such sweet words about the in podcast and your kind blessings! Wishing you a very happy New Year, made me feel with prosperity and well-being for you and your family 💙🙏🏾
Thank you for creating for the most lovely podcast! I am so glad to have been introduced your corner of the internet! Your enthusiasm and artful approach is really inspiring. I am dreaming of many knitting projects for this year. But perhaps my biggest goal is to find balance and appreciation for all the learning and work that goes into every piece. I have a tendency to be quite critical with myself. For this year, I hope to embrace my projects for all that they are. Congratulations on 4K+ subscribers! #4kgiveaway
Thank you so much Nicole for your kind words about the podcast and for joining in the giveaway! And I do agree with you that it is so important to just love the process of what you are doing and making and not getting too caught up in the results. 🙏🏾☀️
Daki, I am sitting in my sacred space, my studio, surrounded by the things that bring me the utmost comfort in my days. My wool, my pet, the scent of a pine candle, a cracking fire, a huge warm cup of coffee, and your beautiful podcast. The rest of the world is still asleep. So much of what you say and your style of communication resonates with me and there are very few podcasts that I invite into this sacred time as their "vibe" so to speak does not add to my early morning reflection practice, but yours is one that I let out an audible shout of joy as it appears on my feed, and happily invite to sit beside me in the quiet as I watch the sun rise in the east and reflect on my blessings. Interestingly, twice I heard the mention of the word Clarity. A word I hold close to my heart and the word I have named my small fiber arts business. My sweet husband helped me arrive at the name when I simply could not decide by asking one simple question... "What does knitting do for you?" I thought only for a moment and responded "It brings me Clarity" LOL... My eyes suddenly got wide and I looked at him with tears in my eyes and said Thats it!!! We continued the conversation by very roughly sketching an idea for my logo on a napkin (which I have since framed) and that logo was brought to life by a friends daughter ( a tenth grader) who aspires to be an graphic designer. All of this to say that the start of 2023 already feels like a blessing of abundance... One in which people can connect around a common shared love of nature and craft. Thank you again for your beautifully crafted podcast, it brings so much to my soul.
Your message has brought me so much joy to read this morning and touched me deeply! Thank you so much for this incredibly generous sharing; I feel quite humbled and honored that you should feel this way about the videos I'm putting out there. It continues to amaze me how, while there are so many horrendous negative impacts of the internet and social media, that we are able to make these deep and entirely meaningful connections with people we have never met in real life.. it's just a continual source of surprise and wonder for me. Thank you for inviting me into such a special moment in your day and I am grateful for being given the opportunity to contribute to it in some small way🙏🏾 I love the story of how you arrived at your own moment of Clarity 🥰 I look forward to catching up on some of your own videos as soon as I get the chance. Xxx and a very happy and prosperous New Year to you and your family!
Wonderful! I really hope you give them a go. Standard crochet cotton works really well with the pattern I did on Instagram last year, but really any yarn will work as long as you switch the colors every round. The overlay detail really makes them look almost like spiraling Stars! 💞💞
Congratulations on 4K subscribers! It is always lovely to hear you and watch your soothing episodes. My Knitting Dreamies for this season are: make an elegant jumper (in progress) and make some "basic" sweaters so I can include knitted items in my daily wardrobe much easier/ #4Kgiveaway
Good morning Magdalena and thank you so much for your kind words about the podcast! I share your desire to make some basic, wearable items for my wardrobe. 🙏🏾☀️
#4K Giveaway. My knitting dreams for this year is to knit for others. I have plenty of beautiful garments, and things for my home and it is a time in my life to think ahead and knit and give away over the year. So many in my family and friends group do not knit and I want them to know the feeling of wearing or using items that have been handmade. Thank you for your wonderful videos that give us time to relax and cherish the time we are given. Happy New Year and Peace
Oh that is the most wonderful goal to have! And I absolutely salute you for it. 🙏🏾☀️ The gift of giving the results of your hand work, made with love and generous intentions, is the greatest gift in my opinion. Thanks so much for watching the podcast today!
Here in Portland we didn't get much snow but we did get extremely cold temperatures for our area and many people's pipes froze on Christmas Eve, including mine! But it was not a big deal, they unfroze eventually. I am working on my first top-down raglan sweater for another podcaster's knit-along and a cotton scarf for the Rose City Yarn Crawl knit-along. Once I am comfortable with making a sweater, I would like to make another out of some kind of rusty-red-orange-brown lightweight wool. I would get a lot of wear out of something like that. I think it's us Americans who use the term "sweater" instead of "jumper" I hear a lot of other English-speaking folks, from UK or Australia for example, saying "jumper" and I love the term jumper! It makes me think of a jumping sheep :) My friend got me a book of japanese lace knitting stich patterns and I am dying to try many of them. I think lace knitting is what appeals to me most in the craft.
Welcome back Kate! So good to hear from you again! The days leading up to Christmas were just fridgid out here too. I'm sure you'll get the chance to try your hand at a sweater this year. For me lace seems so much more daunting than a garment! 💙 Wishing you a very happy New Year!
Jumper is just the English (as in, England) term for a sweater (US). Pullover is more generic both geographically & style. Pullover is basically anything you pull over your head (turtleneck too), while a sweater/jumper is usually the classic crew neck long sleeved thing.
For me, this coming year will definitely be defined by a great amount of stash knitting. I also sew and am always striving for as much of a handmade wardrobe as possible for both me, my husband and our two children, besides thrifting and accepting passed on clothes for the growing kids. I recently took over quite a decent yarn stash from my mother, who passed away a few years ago, and this - combined with my existing stash - is calling for even more attention to using what I have, and only supplementing with things like appropriate lace mohair or alpaca for doubling up to get gauge with the yarn I already have. I'm always preferring rustic, natural yarns in colors that match the nature of the Scandinavian woods and I'm also aiming to getting some work done - both knitting and weaving - with our own new yarn that we have had spun from the fleeces of our own little sheep flock (we have Spælsau and Gute sheep on our little smallholding in rural North Zealand, Denmark). And also doing som more natural dying with both foraged and home grown plant material on som of it. This past autumn, I dyed some hanks of my white spælsau yarn with Japanese Indigo from my garden and im hoping to make a jumper or cardigan of the sky blue yarn for myself this year. So glad I found your podcast - its lovely and inspiring! ..and so are you! Many congratulations on you 4K - going on 5K ;-) #4Kgiveaway
Hello there Mette! So nice to connect with you here! It sounds like you and I are very much of the same mind when it comes to a handmade, simple wardrobe with as much secondhand and thrifted items as possible. The last Christmas to my husband and I were talking about how more and more finding thrifted, and even sometimes entirely free, clothes for ourselves and even for the little ones is the only way to go, with a little bit of supplementing wherever they're missing crucial items. I love how you plan on using up both your stash and the gift left by your mother. I look forward to learning more about what you are doing with your own breeds and to perhaps see some of it in your weaving and knitting. ❤️🙏🏾 Thank you so much for your kind words about the podcast!
Just love your calming energy in your podcast! In 2023 my plan is to knit a blanket and to learn how to do colorwork! I am very interested in exploring more natural unprocessed yarn too. I am so glad I found you through another vlogmas knitter, your vlogmas blogs were so beautifully made! #4kgiveaway
Oh thanks so much for watching my Vlogmas videos Aimee! I enjoyed the process so much. I do hope you get the chance to try out a colorwork sweater this year; it really is a lot simpler than it appears 🙏🏾💙
My Christmas was beautiful - icy and a bit snowy (I also live in the PNW although further south and east from you.) It was quiet but lovely with just my small family, and while I am battling some health issues I was more well this holiday season than I was the previous two years. This coming season - really, this year of 2023 - my knitting plans are to finish my 9 unfinished WIPs. My dreams are to knit at least 9 other beautiful things, including at least two projects entirely from my own handspun! Congratulations on your four thousand subscribers! #4Kgiveaway
I do hope you start to feel better soon Bekha and that this new year will be one of good health and lots of knitting 🙏🏾☀️ Christmas out here was absolutely beautiful I agree; I wish we would see a return to some more wintry weather!
Thank you for sharing and letting us be a part of your creating journey. It has been so wonderful to join in the community of knitters on TH-cam as I have learned how to knit this past year. Some goals I have for the coming year are to learn how to work cables and colorwork more effectively. I want to do a colorwork sweater, but do not know if I’m ready to tackle cables in a sweater knit quite yet. Perhaps a sampler blanket will be where I start. I am planning on joining several KALs with projects I have in mind that will use up some of my current stash. I also would love to finish a fingering weight wool blanket before my next little one is born. It’s on the needles now and I have till the middle of April before he arrives. We will see how much I’m able to get done after that. Congratulations on getting to 4k subscribers! I’m excited to continue to follow along with you through your videos. #4Kgiveaway
Hello there Emily! Thank you so much for taking time to watch the podcast. And congratulations on your pregnancy! What a beautiful and sacred time for you this is. Thank you for sharing your knitting goals and as for the color works with her and the cable sweater, I say just go ahead first and don't be too attached to the result. I found that this is the best way to learn anything really fast, it's just to do it without getting too hung up on what you'll produce. At least that's how I tend to tackle things. Wishing you and your family a very happy and prosperous New Year 🙏🏾☀️
Thank you! I am enjoying this time and excited to see what April will bring. I’m going to have two under two and will be very busy I am sure. Thank you for your advice on moving forward with cables and colorwork. I’m sure I’m going to enjoy the process, I’ll just make sure I use an easier yarn to learn with than some of the fingering yarn in my stash. May you have a wonderful new year with your family as well 😊
Congrats on this well deserved achievement Daki. I love these podcasts so much. My crochet dreamings are to grow in my knowledge of stitches, I want to be able to create all the baby blankets for my grandbabies like my grandma in law did for her grands and great grands over the years. She can't crochet anymore so I've taken it upon myself starting with my first grand daughter coming this year :) #4Kgiveaway
Heartiest congratulations on becoming a grandmother Laralyn! You are so incredibly blessed to have been given this opportunity. And now you get the chance to shower this new baby and crocheted love! How very precious ️ ❤️
Happy New Year Daki. So good to come across your channel. Congratulations on #4kgiveaway. I put myself on a yarn ban. Plan to use what I have. Hope to crochet a shawl this year!
Happy New Year Dali! Blessings to you and your family. Thank you for another lovely video sharing your dreamings and for sharing your wooly garments. One of my dreamings is to knit a jumper with Plutolopi. I have the supplies I need and just need to pick a pattern. It has been over a year dreaming about doing this. I think I have a bit of fear that it will not come out perfectly. I hear so many mixed reviews of breakage. I guess it is time to just take the plunge and do it! I love the project bag that you made! So many facets to the bag which make it so special. I would treasure it always if I am lucky enough to win. I look forward to your next video. You exude Peace ☮️. Sending hugs 🤗 …Karen (Coco).
Hello there Karen and a very Happy New Year to you and your family! I am 100% behind you in your desire to knit a jumper out of plotulopi; you will absolutely love it and I encourage you to choose an Icelandic pattern as your first design. Something by Vedis Jonsdottir for Istex would work really nicely. Thank you so much for your lovely words about the podcast 🙏🏾
Another beautiful beautiful podcast - so enjoyable to watch (and listen to!!). I so appreciate all your philosophical meanderings as well as the knitting content ~ seriously uplifting ~ we are truly all in this boat together and our knitting community is growing all the time! I plan on working on a scrap/stash blanket with fingering weight wool held double; a long term project for sure. #4Kgiveaway
I found you from Tayler, Wool Needles ,Hands. #4K.. I am planning on making my first sweater for myself. I’m a bit nervous as when I watch all of you experienced, beautiful knitters I fall quite short of the skill. I want this so badly that I am determined to do it. I enjoyed your podcast so very much. See you next time😊
Hello there Sue and thank you so much for finding the podcast and your kind comments about it! I urge you very much not to feel disheartened in knitting your first sweater; my second knitted project was actually a bottom-up sweater following Elizabeth Zimmerman, and she completely demystifies the process by showing you how simple a thing it is to knit a garment. 🙏🏾💙
Another giveaway? You are very generous! And that zip bag is marvelous, too…as I am a quilter and weaver and general fiber artist, I absolutely love it! #4kgiveaway My own desire for a project the next few months is really a dream. I have never made myself a sweater, and I’ve only made one sweater ever (that one from Lopi!) but would like to make another. I’m not a fast knitter, and have many things in my life that demand attention, but this seems a good time as any to get started. Cheers and many blessings to you and your family.
Thank you so much Kim! and I like you also have to work quite hard to find time in my day to fit in knitting with all the other things that require my energy and attention. I do hope you get the chance to quietly work away on another lopi sweater this year 🙏🏾
❤ Love your channel! I really enjoy listening to you discuss your projects and the family. I have 6 kids myself. 4 have moved out. Two came back for the holidays this year and I already miss them 😢 as they returned to their states this last weekend. Only two still live in our state (with us). As my knitting dream this year- I want to STASH BUST! We just moved into a home and I have no room for all my yarn so I am trying to make it thru most of it by making blankets. (I have lots of sweater projects too) but, the faster I get the majority of yarn gone, the better. I am entering your give away to hopefully use the patterns as part of the stash busting journey! Take care and have a great #4kgiveaway
Thanks so much Wendy for watching the podcast and for sharing your plans for this year. I do hope you get to work through your stash and knit up some lovely things for yourself 🙏🏾
#4Kgiveaway This was my first time watching your podcast. I thoroughly enjoyed the way you articulate and express your love for your craft and artistry. My knitting goals for this year are to use many of the special and lovely yarns in my stash to create more jumpers and cardigans and also to use the patterns I previously purchased and from my knitting book library, in line with the theme of realizing I already have enough. Like you, I am a fan of wooly wools that are minimally processed and I have a soft spot for local yarns.
Thank you for another lovely beautiful and interesting episode and for sharing your thoughts and creativity. At the moment I’m mostly knitting on the Effervescent jumper from Pompom no. 40. Ny dreamknit for 2023 is to knit ny first Marie Wallin all over color work jumper. #4kgiveaway
My goal for 2023 is to have a “me made wardrobe” with natural fibers. I have gone through a health crisis that has encouraged me in that direction but was headed that way also. I love putting on something that I have made. It feels wonderful.
Congratulations! I knit a lot for other people but have never knit a sweater for myself. It will be a project I hope to achieve in 2023. Thank you for another lovely episode ❤. #4kgiveaway
I have a few ideas of what I want to make this year but most importantly, I hope to approach each new project with intention. I started my own channel in December and there is definitely a pressure to show off the new and shiny. I have a huge pile of Nutiden as well as other yarns so I'm planning to work through that. I just love your authenticity and calm esthetic. Your celebration of the beauty in simplicity is so apparent. ❤
Such incredibly kind and generous words thank you so much! I say resist the pressure with all of our might, and carefully and consciously work with what we have already 😄🙏🏾💙
Hello, Daki. Congrats with 4K! I’m sure your Chanel will be have more and more followers.I love an ambience and charm of your Channel. Enjoy and thanks for your content ❤️ #4Kgiveaway and wish you soon 100K
There is kinship between us - I feel it ❤️
@@woolandtheforest such a beautiful thing. 🙏🏾
I completely agree Michele ❤️
And the puns 🤣🤣🤣
Love it…
Oh that is the best thing I have heard about the podcast so far, thank you so much! ️💙
What a beautiful podcast! Your honesty and gentle spirit shine, and your knitting is gorgeous. I am so glad I found your channel!
Thank you so much Joyce for these wonderful words and for taking time to watch the podcast 💙🙏🏾
Yes! I always grew up calling them jumpers 😊
Your podcast is lovely and I’m so glad I’ve found you. 2023 is my year of realizing that I have enough. Planning to spend my money on travel experiences.
🙏🏾💞
Congratulations on reaching 4k subscribers! #4kgiveaway Thank you for inviting us into your lovely home to learn about all of your crafting.
Thank you so much!
Hello Daki, i am sitting here with my wooly project, relax and watching you from Germany. Thank you sooooo much for your Videos. Dear Isabell
You're so kind! Thank you so much for making time for me and my podcast 🙏🏾✨
Congratulations on reaching the 4K number and thankyou for the #4kgiveaway .
This episode was as delightful as all your earlier episodes.
I forgot to share my knitting dreamings. I am a monogamous knitter. Next 2 projects are planned. The Ripple jacket by Hinterm Stein and the Anne Boleyn by Alice Starmore.
Oh an Alice Starmore is definitely high on my list of dream nets, but I almost feel afraid to cast on one!
Aw thank you so much Anjali! 🙏🏾❤️
Namaste ❤xo
Hello there Carol and welcome to the channel and the podcast! You are practically a neighbor across the water 🙏🏾💙
I'm so happy to have you here 🙏🏾
Also congratulations on your great grandchild! What a gift and a blessing. Sandra's color choices are definitely perfect to swaddle a newborn in 💕
Like you, in the UK we still say jumpers, not sweaters. I agree, sweaters are leisure/sports wear, machine knit, with a smooth outside and a looped or brushed fleece texture inside. But I guess in the US they call that a sweatshirt or jersey? Thank you for your lovely podcast and for sharing your creative endeavours.
Yes!! You describe it exactly the way I grew up thinking of sweaters! Thanks so much for your kind words and for watching the podcast today🙏🏾☀️
In Australia, ‘sweaters’ are known as jumpers. An older, maybe European generation may use ‘pullover’, but never sweater. And cardigans are cardigans, but we’ll often say, ‘cardi’.
🙏🏾 thank you Ann, it's the same for me as well.
Not much snow here but I can see it on the mountain tops from my dining room window. #4Kviewers. Congratulations.
We are hoping for more before February runs out 🤞🏽
Birgitta from Yarn Chaos just popped up in my feed and she mentioned your podcast.
I love my jumpers to Jane! Thank you so much for your sweet and encouraging words about the podcast; I truly appreciate them 🙏🏾🤎
Thank you! We love your channel so very much. Thank you for filming. K
You so much for watching the podcast and I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying what you were seeing here 🙏🏾💙
@@woolandtheforest sending love and warmth to you during these winter days . ❤
Congratulations for reaching 4K youtube subscribers !
Hugs and best wishes to you and your family for the coming new year 🤗🤎☀️
Oh yes I am knitting a jumper at the moment. I am English by birth, living in Australia for a long time now and we wear jumpers.
Jumpers all the way here too!
Ahh that is so kind Brittany! Thanks so much for your support and encouragement and for watching the podcast tod 💜🙏🏾

Hi Daki, this is such a lovely podcast! I found you while I watching Megha and I could not be more happy I found another lovely person on YT.. thank you and have a nice start of the year :) Helena
Ahhh dear Megha! Thank you Helen for finding the podcast and for your very kind words!
Thank you for another wonderful podcast. I am so glad I found you and love to see when new ones come out. Congratulations on 4K. #4kgiveaway.
You are so welcome! And thank you so much for stopping by the podcast today Carrie!
I’m new here, but will definitely be returning often-- Thank you
Thank you so much for finding the podcast and hope you'll enjoy what's to come as well 🙏🏾!
I just found your TH-cam site. Congrats on a #4kGiveAway. I am dreaming of knitting at least 2 sweaters this year and 12pairs of socks.
Thanks so much for joining in Sandy!
I love your sleeve construction, Daki! Really clever!! Also resonating with your love of rose…I am a huge fan, use it in tea, have essential oil and a rose skin oil for after bath. Just makes me relaxed and happy. You are also absolutely hilarious!🤣❤️😘
😄 Hahaha! Thank you so much Nanette, for stopping by the podcast again. I can't get enough of Rose either!
Your shawl is beyond beautiful! What a sweet, thoughtful gift. I’m so thankful to have found your channel. Your presence and the vibe of your channel is so peaceful. 💛
Thank you, thank you! Such wonderful words of encouragement, I truly appreciate it 🙏🏾💙
Dear Daki,
again I‘m enjoying your podcast!
@@woolandtheforest 😊🙏❤️
I've never made a crochet sweater before and it remains something that I'd love
To try someday 💙🙏🏾
Thank you again for everything you share.
Thank you so much for coming back to my videos Alison! So lovely to have you here with me🙏🏾
I came here on the recommendation of Sandra from the podcast no 126 called cherry heart. And I’m glad I did😊
So happy to have you here Juliet! 🙏🏾
Thank you so much Barbara for your kind words and for sharing your knitting goals for this year! 🙏🏾☀️
Children are a blessing. I too have 4 children and now 7 grandchildren. It’s wonderful. Love your podcast and your love for nature and the environment. You are such a beautiful soul, Daki. Love your beautiful shawl.
You're so kind Linda, thank you so much for these generous words🙏🏾 ❤️
@@woolandtheforest Warmest thanks Daki!🙋🏼♀️
Thank you so much for watching the podcast Angela! 🙏🏾 So glad you enjoyed it.
Be well!
We are just getting winter started, few weeks of snow (20cm) and waiting the minus degrees (-10-25C) really kick in 😊 i love it
Love from mother of2 SW Finland ❤️
A very happy New Year to you Teija! It makes me so happy to read your words. Finland has a close place in my heart for reasons that I myself cannot fully articulate. It's an old memory. A very very old memory.... My heart often flies there and wonders whether I'll ever get the chance to see it in person.❤️🙏🏾
I’m so glad your podcast popped up in my feed … I’ve really enjoyed it and your approach to life. I actually have just finished decluttering our house and we are only going to live with what we have/need to live a more simpler life 🏠
I’m a sock knitter but want to have more hand knit sweaters in my wardrobe.
You are right! The US says sweater. :) I’ve been so intrigued over the years by fiber podcasters who say jumper. I obviously live in the US, haha.
Yes! It is definitely a US thing! 😄
I am sure she will!! Knitted gifts are just full of love!
happy newyear you most lovely woman, Your eyes are shining and so your soul I am sure of,
Such sweet words thank you!!
Thank you so very much for yur time and caring
Thank you, and may I send the same blessings to you and your family for this new year!
Thank you so much Janice! A blessed New Year to you and your family ✨🙏🏾

It should say knitting not haughty. Oops.
Totally a jumper for me!! I'm in the UK. x
Yay!! I too love the word jumper to be perfectly honest ☺️
I'm watching from the UK and call it a jumper I'm not sure what jumping has to do with anything but prefer thinking about that than sweating 😙
Haha! I infinitely prefer the jumping thing too! Thanks so much for watching the podcast Louise!
I absolutely love the baubles! I want to make some for our tree next year but I have to decide which yarns to use.
It makes me think of a jumping sheep :)
My friend got me a book of japanese lace knitting stich patterns and I am dying to try many of them.
🙏🏾 yes!
@@woolandtheforest Me too! I do love the snow and I don't mind the cold. Here's hoping!
Oh that is very good to hear! I hope you find joy in using what you already have for your making this year 🙏🏾
Happy New Year Dali!
Autocorrect spelled your name wrong!! Apologies Daki 🙏
You are delightful! Thank you for your lovely podcast.
Oh that is so sweet Margo, thank you!
#4kgiveaway
Thank you so much Caroline for stopping by the podcast again! I very much hope to meet a Marie Wallin design some day too. It's a dream!
My goal for 2023 is to have a “me made wardrobe” with natural fibers. I have gone through a health crisis that has encouraged me in that direction but was headed that way also. I love putting on something that I have made. It feels wonderful.
It is a truly wonderful feeling I agree! Real wool is an amazing fiber and knitting with it is a delight!
Congratulations! I knit a lot for other people but have never knit a sweater for myself. It will be a project I hope to achieve in 2023. Thank you for another lovely episode ❤. #4kgiveaway
Thanks so much for your kind words Elaine! 🙏🏾
Thank you so much Lolina! You're so very kind and supportive 🙏🏾💙 thanks for being here with me!
