This song was ahead of its time.

about 15 years ahead of its time!
@@SleepyT23I listen to this now 10 times a day 😂
The song is amazing and one of the best ever, but this video is just awful 🤣
@@lcsty1017 I think it helps if you have some stimulants in your system haha 🤣 💨
‘I can say I hope it will be worth what I give up’ has been like a mantra for me at times of change. I’ve actually found it really comforting. This album is probably one of my top three favourites ever.
Don't know what you're giving up, but you are worth it ❤
I used to listen to this before missions in Afghanistan. Fundamentally similar reason.
You’re a Legend, keep your head up
its always worth what is given up
I was 18 when this dropped. I'm now 29 writing this comment, time flies.
Tempus fugit
I was 17 when this came out and same 28 now.
@@Sabrina-ln9ky i was 16... Now I'm 28
Happy 30th birthday i'm 7 years senior your age.
@@jesterchester8428 your birthday is in Sept. 15th??
This video is pure art. I've always loved it. Completely underrated song.
Underrated artist, in general, unfortunately. ❤
I see as a metaphor of all the garbage and propaganda the media tortures us with.
this music video is a homage to a part of the film, The Holy Mountain (1973), although, a warning, the film is not for the faint hearted.
As a fact, art is generally underrated by those evil ones in the power, but far from appearence, art cannot go unseen, every one of us can appreciate it, no matter what they lead us to believe
I remember when I first saw it on MTV so many years ago... now I've got 2 kids and this song still makes me feel good. I try to never forget these times.
My mom won a Zune, if anyone remembers those, on the radio in 2008 and this song was on it when she got it. I was 13. I'll be 21 next month. Time fliesssssss.
Omg my bdays tomorrow thanks babes so sweet of you! Have a great day! (:
I know this comment is kinda old but I remember those! Didn’t even think about them until reading your comment. That’s so cool this song was on there already.
Merci Nova ❤
I am obsessed with this song! How the hell has it been out this long and I only just heard it for the first time in Feb. of this year?!
love your JtHM pic :)
I found this song a few years ago. I was bored and I was looking around on Comcast On Demand under music and Electronica/alternative.
Heard this song 6 years. And I finally found it.
same here
Wow, I completely thought this was a Tegan & Sara song for the past 15 years. Thanks the the 17 Again resurgence for sorting this out for me.
dang. i forgot how much i love Santi.
@v_gan who are you?
She's an awesome artist...thank you santigold for steppin out of the box and being true to yourself.
Years later this song still gives me liiiiiffffeee
This sound still sounds like next year. Timeless. This song put me onto her. So glad my life hasn't been the same since.
She's timeless. I hope she comes out with a new album soon!
there is one coming out very soon!
Preorder spirituals on her site
About one of the best music videos ever made, original, surreal and cinematic, and a really great tune that still sounds so fresh.
Chris Bridgeman righttt??
well, it’s a rendition of a scene from the Holy Mountain by Jodorowsky
It is inspired by the Neptune vignette from Holy Mountain
@@fabssta814 wow! that's fascinating thanks so much.
This song gives me chills ♥
alot of her songs do that 😊
So universal true. Depends where ure from. Big respect for ur voice Santigold. This is real art.
I just discovered her as an artist after having a few of her songs in my playlist for years and I'm OBSESSED
This just may be one of the best songs ever made, or is :).
Agreed 🤗
@That's Not My Name a great Dj
ahead of its time...
She is so gorgeous ...
This takes me back to simpler times. Credz to my big sis for always introducing good music.

Had this on repeat since 2015

I saw this video one time in 2008 while on vacation with family, the image of Santi in white on the black horse has been engraved in my brain ever since! Absolutely love this song and visuals ❤️
I seen Santigold live in concert at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon years ago.....awesome live vocals!
I heard this as background music before a concert and I couldnt find this song for jesus knows how long. Finally found it!!!
Santigold is great, has her own sound, I would love to see her live.
Thanksgiving 2022. What a masterpiece song.
In the spirit of listening to Santi's excellent *Spirituals,* I was compelled to revisit '08 and hear her first inspired work.
1) This is giving me “Pray to God” music video flashbacks
2) I’ve heard of Santigold before but never knew who she was
3) How come I am now just discovering her!
I'm a Santigold fan -- just heard this for the first time and I'm smiling!
4.6 millions of views. 💛
Wicked tune, heard it today on radio 6
timeless music
I just discovered this song today & man i didn't know what i was missing 😩.
Santigold? More like: Santiplatinum! This song captures the essence of the best of alternative rock music as a whole.
She's Gorgeous
2022 still Gold
2022 March! Still listening! This song gives me goosebumps and means so very much to me.
Heard this on the radio today, really like it and love her voice!
inspired by the mexican movie The holy mountain by Alejandro Jodorowsky! Love it!

This will forever remind me of my high school days! '09
I got this song randomly in one of my Spotify playlists. Love it! Been checking out other stuff from you now.
I remember watching Holy Mountain and thinking 'OMG THIS IS WHERE THE SANTIGOLD VIDEO IS INSPIRED ON!!!!!!"

i remember discovering this watching the 2008 emas, time flies...
February 2024 still is a timeless banger
I was 19 years old when this song came out. It was part of the soundtrack to my life. I was such a loaner who was okay with the solitude.
why is this bitch not a fucking superstar....her music is better than 90 percent out right now
You're so right

hail2redskins1 she is. I saw her with rhcp a couple years 2
Escuchar esto 14 años después 👁️👄👁️.
Me hace sentir una nostalgia cabrona, muchas cosas han cambiado, con decir que este vídeo lo vi en MTV, cuando aun era MTV... 🥹
When I was way younger i thought this video was funny. Now I'm 30 and I almost cry or sometimes cry by the end.
I've always loved these guys, didn't know I like so many of songs of theirs.
*songs of HERS
@@TheBeezusjoneswell kinda but Santigold was originally a project convinced with Santi and her former band member from the band they used to be in
Remember watching this in the daily top 10 thing on MTV. I still love this song.
Every time I see this music video, it puts me in the mood to watch some Jodorowsky films.
I've always thought the use of fruit and other items to represent body parts and blood was really creative. ❤️
Pre5y sure this was homage to a scene in the holy mountain
@@akskatinchillridin1805 don't know what that is

Vilgot Norén big fucking memories :)
haha thanks!
Yeah there's always a few song you can't forget from nhl games. The ones from the original games were the most memorable.
Me too! Lol
i really like this song.
If i can stand up mean, for the things that i believe. This has been line that has carried me for over a decade in terms of sobriety, spiritualism, and standing firm in my beliefs. Even if that means not everyone agrees with it.
Jesus
How the hell doesn't she have 1 million subscribers by now. You have artists out with no talent and horrible music with millions of views. As the years go by, we are going to miss out on amazing and nostalgic music.
You never know... her songs and videos still work and will for some time to come. Every day is a good day to discover Santigold.
i’ll never stop loving this song
I come back to this couple of times a year. Its a reminder of happy times.
THis woman is a genius
5 24 2022....... amazing
As someone commented on another santigold video, IM SO MAD I ONLY JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT HER
I'm lucky MTV Latin America used to play this video back then. Because since then I'm a huge Santi fan
Wow... 240p... I feel like I traveled back in time.
Too bad ... could have watched it in 360p!
SamTeks 240p was the max quality three years ago
Still bop
this was love at first sight.

oh santigold, tell me the secret of ur coolness
You either is or you isn't. Coolness wise.
The secret is ripping off alejandro jodorowsys the holy mountain :)
@@CaseOfTheCrits it's a music video, get over yourself.
Solid bop. Still boppin.

So 80sish in sound. In a good way. :D
Santogold Is So Slept On Still Here 2023!
God your power fuels my santi addiction
Year 2022! Still f.....ing good
They nailed it…
I remember seeing this video on TV when I was 12... I am now 24 and this track is one of few that I will never get sick of.
After all these years i totally forgot about it and it popped up on a playlist such a nice one
Too much time has passed since I last listened to this song.
Wow 😳 still so good
Classic
My interpretation video wise: We have become so numb to killing, it no longer affects us. We see blood and thats all.. But to see it in a non-graphical way definitely had me disgusted and concerned. cool video
Jessica Rickman it's a reference to Alejandro Jodorowsky's the holy mountain.
"Ultimately were all dead men"
I think the video is making fun of people who think they are "deep".
Magallanes 2540 u every had someone tell u they are deep ? It really fucks me off , I didn’t know I was deep till she starts telling me about the love of her shoes 🙄
The video is about killing each other indirectly not realising that this kinda stuff is the demise of humanity , Cos it’s not real , one day it will be and one day there will be a lot of dead people thinking call of duty will save em, life is a game we can never stop playing it’s very important to play , but dying means nothing
Great interpretation. I am very moved and concerned when I watch this video too.
Takes me back to when I was a broke kid good times
reminds me of 80's music
