  • Heading into enemy territory, looking for an absolute slab of a Snake. After a hell of a lot of fun on the 1000 series, i decided to pull out the classic and try some rather questionable techniques i learned back home in South Africa for BIG catfish. The idea behind shaking the rod tip in the water is a technique that dates back many years, the aim of doing this is to cause as much commotion as possible, confusing the predatory fish into thinking that their is some kind of frenzy going on, basically trying to replicate the sound of fleeing bait-fish. Now, this doesn't work every time, but when it does, its a hell of a lot of fun!
    The set-ups:
    First set-up:
    Reel: Shimano curado 200HG
Line: Mahseer MSTAPI PE 3 (Pink)
Rod: Prince Natural II 8-17lb line wt.
    Second set-up:
    Reel: Shimano Nasci 1000
    Line: UNKNOWN (Guessing PE 0.8)
Rod: Bass one 4-7lb line wt.
Third set-up: (Also the rod that broke)
    Reel: Shimano Cardiff 200A
    Line: Owen C 45lb PE3 Super Nupe
    Rod: Storm Adventure Xtreme 10-20lb

Hi ! Really nice technique ! I was there 4 months ago and I didn’t think about that ! Splashing the top water with the rod actually makes kind of feeding time sound ! Genius !
