“Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours. The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, but a few months after, Dalida covered it and brought it to fame. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad. But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends. Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations. This 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries. This cover from Forestella is the most recent one I am aware of.

Forestella released their Korean version of this song in their 3rd album: the Forestella. 눈물 속에 홀로 (Alone in tears) has lyrics in Korean. Even the words in the lyrics was changed alot from the original Je suis malade, you can feel the deep emotions and vibes of original in it if you try to listen. One of the members of Forestella (Bae DooHoon) contributed in writing some lyrics in Korean as well.
Every country or language has its own culture and sensibility. I don't know any French, but there are translated lyrics so I know what they're singing. But I have a question for those who speak French. Aside from the pronunciation, harmony, and chords of this song, it is how much French-speaking speakers express the French feel of the words they used to sing in French. I'm Korean, so I can't understand the unique feelings of the French language. 모든 나라 또는 민족의 언어는 그들만의 문화, 감성이 있지요. 저는 프랑스어를 전혀모르지만 번역된 가사가 있어서 무엇을 노래하는 지는 알고 있습니다. 그런데 제가 프랑스어 하시는 분들에게 궁금한 것이 있습니다. 이노래의 발음, 화성, 화음 이런부분들 말고, 이들이 프랑스어로 노래부를 때 사용한 단어들을 프랑스어권 사용자들이 듣기에 단어가 가진 프랑스어의 느낌을 얼마나 표출 하였는가 입니다. 저는 한국인이라 프랑스말의 고유한 감정을 알수가 없습니다.
