How to spend 120 minutes watching and listening to a shutter surgeon... At first I was searching exactly for Graphic Synchro Compur and this comes close enough. Thank you for your expertise 👍🏻👍🏻
I just received a 4x5 with a Synchro Compur 1 shutter that is quite sluggish at, and even hangs entirely at times,on the slower speeds 1/10 and under. This series will be instrumental in my servicing of it, thank you for making such detailed service videos!
One spring went flying on me... I looked everywhere. I was stumped. Looked down and it was in my chest hair.. LOL. A Guardian Angel must have placed it there to help me.
Hi Chris. I must have serviced so many of these shutters over the years and I can still on the whole remember where each part goes. I still service the odd camera for my own use and to keep my hand in as they say.
Hey. Thanks a lot for showing us all the details. I tried to service my shutter as well, but at the end you didn't show how to put the Main Ring in, so now I'm lost :(
HI Chris, excellent videos on the overhaul of the Linhof lens , however what became of the large spring wire that was suspicious from very beginning of the video series. I have the same problem with a Graflex Zeiss Ikon lens. What did you do with the loose end.
The 'loose end' was meant to stick up like that. It is trapped under the cover plate of course, but the spring is pushed across by the shutter-speed setting ring when selecting the top speed. The spring provides some tension to the catch to ensure that the shutter stays cocked with the extra force from the high-speed spring.
Hiya Chris, thanks for your brilliant videos! I have sucessfully dissasembled cleaned and reassembled my Syncho Compur shutter (like this one). It works way better than it did however I'm having 25th sticking intermittenly and 10th and slower all sticking. I'm wondering if I need to increase the speeds a bit as they all seem slower than they should be. Have you got a video on how to adjust the speeds?
I have a similar shutter, in black, but the aperture selector doesn’t line up with the scale. Was something assembled incorrectly on my shutter or is it broken?

Oh My God ... You had to dismantle most all of it AGAIN 😱 AND put it ALL back !!!
I doff my hat to you Sir...you are a real perfectionist !
Another epic repair, lots of springs and levers!

I certainly service a lot of the small shutters, but big ones like this I rarely see, as you could no doubt tell.
Going to call this video the 'Linhof infinity spring' 👍😄
Great series 👍 liked this one :)
Thank you so much for this!

Thank you for this helpful video. Could you please write the name of the lubricant that are you using. Thank you again
You can find details in the description of consumables that i use.

I'm sure the cost of this thorough servicing must be the original cost of this shutter, if not exceeding it !!!
