It was a song that Lan Zhan himself had composed and he had only sung it for Wei Ying, no one else. Lan Zhan literally named the song "Wangxian" combined from their names Lan "Wang"-ji and Wei Wu-"xian." So when Lan Zhan heard the song, he knew instantly it was Wei Ying, because he's the only one who would even know the song in the first place.
Lan wangji is the only one who knows wei better he knows when is hurt and when is okay. He just looks at him and know when wei says I'm fine just know his hurt🤗🤗

Wei ying was using his flute to play the song lan zhan sang for him when they were in The cave , this song was special because lan zhan wrote it especially for them, no one know it but them he named it " Wangxian" after them. So he knew it couldn't possibly be anyone, but Wei Ling, who's playing it at that time when he recognized him
What was the point of mask?? Lanzhan was the biggest giveaway for weiyings identity... lanzhan won't carry anybody else or serve liquor to. Clearly, those who know him know that it is weiying with him. Jiang Chang realized it the moment he saw wangji holding masked man's hand. Xichen realised the moment he saw lanzhan react angrily to jinling badmouthing yiling laouzou. Huaisang is extremely smart. Weiying must know that his friend will figure it out within minutes. Guess that's why he ends repeating his observation on the fan. This was more like a test for huaisang.
If you haven't watched the entire series,this might be a spoiler 😅 . . . . Actually Huaisang knows from the beginning about the comeback of Wei Ying as he is the one who hints mo xuanyu about the summoning and sacrificing charm anonymously... He does so, because he wants to take revenge on the real killer of his elder brother but he doesn't have the power to do so.. if you observe the series closely you can see that Huaisang hates training martial arts and is rather playful.. this nature of him actually helps him to get close to Wei Ying and to know his true power... He uses Wei Ying and lan zhan to get his revenge without him actually getting involved in life-risking situations... Huaisang is actually the great schemer of the story... Wei Ying wears the mask coz he's mo xuanyu to the world, when the real mo xuanyu was alive he always wore a mask.. if Wei Ying appears without the mask,it would cause a great turmoil among the clans and Huaisang's plan for revenge would fail... This shows the extraordinary planning skills of the rather 'I don't know' Huaisang... Imo, lan zhan wasn't the biggest giveaway for Wei Ying's identity.. if you observe the series closely, you can see that others are actually confused about lan zhan's closeness to 'mo xuanyu' coz they know that lan zhan never gets close to someone and they also believe that Wei Ying is dead.. though Jiang Cheng doubts that it is Wei Ying, he thinks it's impossible as he had searched him for years but couldn't find any traces and the sword has sealed itself... There are many loose ends for Jiang Cheng to connect the dots..
