It is very unhappy to see people tease you about your name Professor. However I would like to thank you for posting these useful videos. Have a nice day.
Thank you for this series, Professor Porter. I'm a CS Junior at university, and all my classes conveniently omitted going into any detail about caches, but used them extensively. I gained tremendous benefit from your clear and complete videos. Thank you so much!
I watched all the lectures but what I needed for my exam starts on lecture 5. If youre CSU SM student might as well skip to that lecture. Great lectures!
I've only watched up to 4:06, so I'll delete this if you answer it. I forgot the name, but isn't there a system where you divide memory over multiple hard drives? Couldn't you do that with caches, having alot of them? I mean, obviously, you would need ALOT of them to come close to matching the size of the memory unit

Oh man i bet this awesome Prof. doesn't hear the end of it with his name! lol. Wonder if he enjoys it or hates it..
Often my students call me “Prof Potter”. I instantly turn them into frogs.
Does the diagram used for cache setup for i7 also represent the intel core i5 setup as well or even the i3?
Yes. Only the difference in mb matters.
Perfect
Thanks sir ☺
HARRY PORTERRR YOU ARE THE CHOSEN PROFESSOR
What are the reasons for L1 cache is faster than L2 cache ?
Why only we have two different cache for data and instruction for L1, but not for L1 and L3 ?
thanks
Why L1 , L2 and L3 caches have different sizes and how sizes of caches are determined ?

Caches are VERY expensive compared to Hard Drives, thats why its economically unfeasible to have a lot of caches.
So, why can not we make main memory faster, we can eliminate the need for cache.
you are awesome
Yer a Wizard Harry....oh,maybe not....
Your videos make me understand in 10 minutes; however, I do not get what my professor teach me :(
