That's a more advanced unit than what I use, having that nifty motion-sensing safety feature. I originally purchased mine to sterilize N95 masks for personal reuse (I work in a hospital) when our hospital could not procure enough masks for one-time use (they were hen's teeth at the time, being nearly impossible to locate and substantially marked up if found for sale). What struck me was the amount of ozone my particular unit produces. I was greeted with a nosebleed the first time I used mine after entering the test room. I didn't know the "burning wire" odor I was smelling was actually ozone and despite only being in the room long enough to see that the banana as well as a UV-C detection card were dark (perhaps 10-15 seconds), it was in sufficient concentrations for physical issues to quickly manifest. Ozone also kills microbes, so in combination with the actual UV-C light, it's a potent one-two punch. However, UV-C lamps theoretically shouldn't produce ozone, so my unit must also produce light in a different spectrum, likely an ultraviolet of a shorter wavelength. No biggie, I just have to wait 45-60 minutes for the ozone to convert from O3 back to O2. I believe your unit may generate ozone as well as another TH-cam review of the same unit had the reviewer complaining of the smell, so just be aware. Ozone is unstable and won't remain in the air long, but while it does, it can cause issues with your mucus membranes, causing respiratory issues... and apparently nosebleeds. Thanks for your review.
Thank you for watching AND thank you for all the insight!!! I wasn't sure if that smell was ozone, but now I guess I can't deny it. I also have a skincare device that creates that same smell (which is now concerning). I'm sorry you had to find out through experiencing the nosebleed. I haven't felt any negative impacts yet, but I'm glad you let me know because I don't want to risk it affecting my cats either. I'll be sure to keep the rooms blocked off longer after using the light. I really appreciate you sharing your experience!!!
I still use it but not as frequently as I would like because I don't want to wrangle & keep my cats out of certain rooms. I do think it helped out in the bathroom. The renovation has taken longer than expected so the wall has been exposed to continue observing. With all the water damage that was uncovered, the mildewy smell that had lingered went away after using it 2 days in a row (2 times a day, placing it closer to the damage area) and there was no signs of mold. It also worked well for curing uv resin for craft projects, haha. But I just learned that the smell it creates is ozone, which can be problematic. But avoiding the room for an extra 45 minutes should take care of that.
@@anashvillegirl Dailytop UV light did not produce Ozone. After using a non ozone ultraviolet lamp, there will still be a smell, but this smell is not the smell of ozone, it is a smell similar to the sun. This smell appears because the bacteria and viruses are killed, and a smell of corpses appears. This smell will not cause any harm to the human body, just open the window for ventilation and wait for the smell to dissipate before entering the room!
@peterwei7367 So following that logic, as you use the device more and more, there should be less and less smell do to less and less bad living things in the air and surfaces.?
I have not had any bad experiences with mine, but I'm aware that it can be dangerous if used incorrectly or around living things (especially pets and plants!). I pinned a great and informative comment above left by @snowdogthewolf , which brings up the concern of ozone. I think the most important thing, other than making sure that there's no living objects around, is to let the room sit for 45+ minutes after the light goes off, just to be extra safe.
Sorry, but unless you use a doseage meter you really dont know if this thing is working. Leaving an odor doesnt really prove much. Some of my friends leave odors. 😨
So after using Uvc. It Smells better. No proof of any bugs Or Mold eliminated. So let's Believe it works because we all Know Smell is Objective. Not. Lab results please.
